Everyone is already surrendering to the notion that we will struggle immensely while Ben is hurt and Vick is under center. But what if, much like D. Williams resurrection, that Vick comes out and is good? I guess that's what we are hoping for, but I think it is unwise to completely write him off until we see a full game in which he prepared for (even though he only had 3 days to prepare for the Ravens).

3 days isn't enough. i don't think vick has ever been the sharpest tool in the shed and i'm guessing next week he may be better if he survives this one. we will have a longer practice time for them to rep him for the next one.

Yep, gonna need a colossal defensive effort to win this game. If Vick is going to shine, it will be next week and going forward.

I'd like to know what the Vegas odds are him even surviving this game, Ben normally takes a beating in this rivalry, Vick will be broken like a twig if the line isn't in top form.

If (and it's a big if) Vick comes out and wins 3 or 4 games, keep Ben out a few extra weeks to guarantee his knee is 100%. Imagine going to the playoffs with a fresh Ben!

By the time Ben is hopefully ready to come back, it will coincide with the most brutal part of their schedule. We will need him to get through that to make the playoffs, Vick wont have a prayer of navigating that.

Deangelo Williams has performed above expectations, but I think expectations were still high - he's always been a good RB.

Vick's performance against the Rams was woeful, and his performances since returning to the NFL have been utterly unimpressive.

So maybe lightning strikes and he has some good games. But all evidence points to the contrary.

Keep in mind those games had a Colossal Suggs, HGHNATA, and good secondary that allowed their pass rush to kill Ben. Their pass rush/coverage is as bad as ours is if not worse.

Vick has pretty much sucked since 2012. I'm hopeful that he has a few good games, but there's been nothing to indicate that.

Now I still think we will beat the Ravens. Our defense is playing much better and progressing each week.

Considering Vick had his best year with the Eagles... I have to disagree.

The line was garbage after Vick came in Sunday. He barely had any time. They were blitzing blitzes to get to him. How do you expect him to come in and "shine."

I don't see any logical evidence.

If the Oline can hold the Ravens and Bell can keep them honest. Vick will torch their defense.

If the defense can stop Smith, this game is won. I don't think Vick can win a shoot out.

    I'll say this.

If you're a backup QB in this league, I can't think of very many teams that are as good or better of an offensive situation to come into. Usually good line. Outstanding weapons in 2 RBs and2 (soon to be 3) WRs. And a TE who although not flashy, is as solid a security blanket step down as they come.

As long as Vick prepares and doesn't try to get greedy or foolish in the game, he'll be ok.

Yea, I don't thin we can judge Vick by his past recent performances - he did not have lots of weapons, certainly not like the ones he has today. Playing the Ravens will tell us a lot. Win this one, at home, and confidence overall will likely be soaring.

I think a lot of the keys to success will be Haley - can he design a game plan to take advantage of what Vick can do and not expect things he can't do. We still have offensive firepower - it wasn't all Ben.

Even Vick should be able to throw a bubble screen.

Vick showed against us last season that he still has some wheels when he went down the sideline and juked Brice McCain. I look for the Steelers to have a limited playbook with a lot of roll-outs, screens and a few heaves downfield that'll be like punts if they get picked. Bad year or not, Flacco scares me more than anything because he does well against our D and threw 2 TD's in all three games last season. Throw in the infamous 'chunk it deep and get a cheap interference call' play that always seems to work against us and he could do a lot of damage.

    This is true.

I can't believe I am the optimist here. I think Vick will be fine. The Ravens are a bad team, doing some serious soul searching, and they have to go to Pittsburgh on a short week.

If this game were being played in Baltimore, I'd be singing a different tune. But I think the Steelers win this.

Not a real big Vick fan. Loses a bunch of balls. Carries it like a loaf of bread. Holds the ball too long but unlike Ben, he usually has to pay for holding the ball. Ben finds ways to make that work

Why don't we give him a full game as a Steeler before passing judgement

I pretty much know what vick can do, but theres that little nagging thought in the back of my mind that there is a good vick and a bad vick, and he will be playing with maybe 15 scripted plays out of a playbook with 500 plays, then the Oline isnt used to his cadence so expect some false starts along with the other dis advantages such as fumbles and picks that comes with a bad vick, add in he hasnt played a game in over a year and he didnt have a training camp, so his first start in a long time doesnt bode well for us, short leash this guy, I'd rather go with LJ........

If you think back to the last times Vick played before he came here, you cannot be optimistic. You would have to hope Vick takes his career more seriously all of the sudden. Also, I remember how Ben plays when he is not 100%, such as when his ankle was sore his play was downgraded, so the expectation to "struggle."

Hope for the best, but expect all losses while Vick starts and if Ben is back for the Cincy game, probably lose that one to start before he gets up to speed and get better.

The best part about all of this is that any QB can come in and win a game with this offense.

The only thing I am worried about is the defense. Not Vick. Hell, I even picked him up in my fantasy! As for the Steelers D? Not anytime soon.

We didn't just turn into the Jaguars people. We lost 1 piece to a massive puzzle.

If they don't win one game I'll be absolutely shocked.

While I'm only cautiously optimistic with Vick, I am floored that some people think he's garbage. Would people actually be more confident in gradkowski? He's definitely past his prime, but Vick at least gives us a chance. IMO he's the back up QB I've had the most confidence in since I can remember outside of Batch. Leftwich? Maddox? Dixon? Gradkowski? I'll take our chances with Vick and all of our offensive weapons. Go Burgh!

Couldnt disagree more strongly with this, Grad is much better suited for this offense. Vick really is hot garbage but you'll have to find that out for yourself, I'll be shocked if he does well. But besides that, he's left handed and because of this, Haley had to reverse the jugs machine so the receivers could get used to the way Vick will be firing the football, so thats a negative right there and on top of that, this offense isnt remotely tailored to Vicks game.

I feel the opposite of you, I was totally comfortable with Grad filling in for a few games.

i'd be just as happy with jones. he has improved and i think with the starters around him to keep him grounded, he would do just fine. he's got a cannon too.

Have you been watching the games?!?

This defense has way over-performed, to MOST of our expectations!

The loss of Shazier, is the only real downside I see to our D, this week, at least...

McCullers is out, too, but he didn`t get a lot of snaps anyhow...

He has a future here, I think, but he ain`t "ALL THAT", yet...

    VICK?!?!:eek::facepalm::rolleyes:

Good Lord, Man, even putting aside my feelings for him as a person...

Look at his track record since he got outta jail...

    Not too impressive...

And to try and get in the groove with our "weapons", on a very short week...

Not inspiring much confidence in me.

IF... He can b a solid #2 here, it`s gonna show next game, against San Diego, when he has a solid week of prep 1st...

The ONLY thing he has going for him this week, is we are at home, and not in Baltimore, where the crowd noise and environment would make his job that much harder, on a short week..

I am truly hoping we can find a way to win this game, but, I have some serious doubts that we can.

I can put on the Black-n-Gold glasses, and look at all the positives we have on offense, but, the realist in me, thinks we are about to find out how much Ben helped our "star" players, become "stars"...

    I hope I`m wrong..

I will be rooting my heart out for us to win, but think it`s gonna be more on our "young" defense that gets the job done, if we do win, than that Damn Dog Killer!:icon evil:

If he shines, more power to him, for helping us...

But he should still rot in Hell!!!

I`ve never looked forward, LESS, to a Steeler game, than this one...

Thanx for taking Vick, Front Office!:confused1::maintete::mad::thumbsdown:

Gotta root for him to do good... He`s on my team!
Even tho he wouldn`t be, if I was the one to make the call..

    Go STEELERS!!!:herewego!:
