as far as 2 point conversions go since MT has been here, we are like at 80% with ben. they talked about it in the preseason. that's a great percentage. why break that up?

I wouldn't as long as it is still working. How many attempts is that 80% because it seems to me we have a lot of trouble near the GL and on Short Yardage . All I am saying is have the package ready just in case you want to use it or have to use it . At the very least this would have your bu more prepared , he would have at least a set of plays that fit his skill set in case of emergency.

Why not bring in Jason Campbell or Christian Ponder if a generic backup QB was all that was needed? Surely Vick was brought in for some larger reason other than Tomlin simply being a fanboy.

No, I don't like Vick, I think hes a vile disgusting human being but that has no bearing on how I feel about pulling our franchise QB off the field, I'd feel the same way no matter who it was, even a saint like Tebow.

If other teams can have a good redzone percentage with non running QB's, then so can the Steelers with all their weapons, I'd rather they figured it out instead of resorting to silly gadget packages that takes the ball out of the best QB's hands.

Doesn't matter if you think its a good idea, its a bad plan that will never see the light of day. Only way Ben is coming off the field is if he is hurt. Bank on it.

No way to know if it's a bad plan or not until you try it. Vick might go 100% on 2 pt. conversions, who knows ? The point is it is safer to use your #2 QB to run with. Do you Agree ?

If the QB is a non run threat it's like playing 10 on 11 in short yardage situations. Do you agree ?

It's harder to throw when the field gets tighter .Do you agree ?

After you agree with those which I am sure you will those are the merits for installing such a plan . Now as a former Coach I will tell you the biggest merit of all.... Time. Coaches never have enough time . So anytime you spend time planning to stop an attack that's time taking away from something else.

So if you just show the Vick , zone read stuff once or twice a game you will force a Defense to spend 4 or 5 hours to be ready for it . It will take the Steelers like 20 minutes to install it that's a Coaching win any way you look at it.

Vick isn't even a good QB, has a terrible QBR since 2011. This is such a bad idea, IMO.

BULL you don't take out your #1 QB period unless he goes down and even then I would put in a cheerleader form the opposing team before Vick would get on the field he is a piece of CRAP and should not be in the NFL let alone on this team .................

He is a slap in the face to every Steeler fan,,

I see we won't see eye to eye , but I would also consider Tyler Murphy in that role . So it's not really a Vick thing to me it's a win by any means thing to me .. If we had a better Defense I wouldn't be looking so hard for every single point as much . Again a guy that can run and throw is harder to stop in short yardage situations.

You will see the trouble we have with the zone read on display tomorrow , why should the Team not do that to other Football Teams situationally ....

As far as playing 11 on 10 that is a fact if the QB is a non run threat . DE'S and LB'S have to play extra run lanes when the QB can run, watch the game tomorrow..... When you cover the QB'S gaps you have no help for the RB'S gaps , there is a reason the zone read made it from HS Football all the way to the NFL . The reason it did is it's very hard to stop ,the reason more Teams don't run it is most Teams don't want to risk their Franchise QB ....I agree with that , but it is just plain dumb not to use that package if you have the talent to do it ....

What you gain in legs you sacrifice in throwing. Vick is not a good QB, don't know how he is fooling some of you.

It's 11 on 11 PWP, no matter how you slice it.

I agree that we won't agree though ;)

I never said he was a good passer and he need not be that great in Zone Read . Can he make a 5 yard throw ?

It is not 11 on 11 at all. On every running play the object is to gain an advantage .The Defense's job is to cover all the running lanes. If you can create extra running lanes then you gain that 4 on 3 advantage or 5 on 4 advantage or 2 on 1 advantage or 3 on 2 advantage.Simply put a hat on a hat if the QB stays on his side of the LOS he is not a part of that advantage .

Simply put when you game plan for the zone read you have to assign Defenders to the QB as a runner those same defenders also have RB responsibilities and they also have pass responsibilities. This spreads the D a lot thinner gives the RB extra space to run and it gives your Receivers more 1 on 1 chances and more space to work with ...

Can we wait until we have Bryant back before we start complaining about our red zone offense. We are kind of handcuffed right now.

is there physically 11 men on each side of the ball? Yes. Scheme doesn't change the laws of physics. You try to create mismatches throughout the entire game but that never changes the fact that there is 11 men on each side of the ball. Unless you're the Steelers and try to do it with 10.

We already have enough playmakers on the off side of the ball. Unless he can play corner ...leave him as backup

I really can't understand how some are OK with dogboy on the team and pulling Ben to put him in,even at his best he was a mediocre QB at best,,,to put it simply without his running ability he would have washed out his first season,,
