Have our D coaches ever heard of man defense?

The Steeler way: draft large, physical corners who presumably should be playing man and/or jamming wide receivers then play them in a soft zone scheme where a sizeable cushion is allowed.

Also, have two quick ILB but do not match them up against top TEs.

    Repeat.

Did anyone see that part of Hard Knocks where O'Brien was telling players how to respond to media? I suspect that's what we're seeing here. Boykin is probably well aware of what's going on, but doesn't feel the need to broadcast it to the world.

I think the coaching staff is afraid our corners will get beat for a big play, hence the big cushion. We don't have anyone besides boykin probably, that can jam a receiver and turn his hips fluidly. Our pass rush will never get there if they keep having big gaps. I say let them jam, be physical and hope the pass rush hits. If we get beat for a big play then we get beat.

Exactly. Also, the Steelers have a really good offense now. If they get beat then the Steelers O gets a shot. If the team still had a mediocre O then play to keep it close. Plus if the ad gets beat fast at least they are fresh haha. Playing not to lose on D seems foolish.

If I were Tomlin, I would have been trying to suit up the equipment manager and sneak him into the game to play corner. It's absolutely ridiculous that Boykin did not play a single snap. Maybe Tomlin was trying to make some kind of point, who knows.

He was hurt in practice this week. It's my understanding that he was perfectly healthy as he watched our secondary get carved up by Tom Brady last week.

Not saying we didn't look bad, especially communicating, leaving Gronk uncovered but Brady carves up a lot of secondaries.

I'll be more worried if Kap does the same to them.
