Embarrassing attempt at the game of football last night! What do we see as fans they don't?

Ben don't throw deep in the rain, Tomlin use the damn clock, run DeAngelo they couldn't stop him, forget about the headset issue - we were getting schooled by Marsha and Gronk!!

Tomlin doesn't show "fire", chew some ass once in awhile as we really are almost a Hoover on defense!! Blake, C. Allen company suck let's face it!

Put Villanueva on Gronk at the line of scrimmage, he's 6' 9" and 340, used to be a tight end, at least slow the Gronk down!! The stupid "trick" play at the start of the game was idiotic! Run the damn ball down their throats, keep Marsha off the field!! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagggggggghhhhhhhhhhh!!

I'm 47 so I have seen my share of games like last night over the years, especially in the 80's. It's just week one so you never know how things will turn out. The 2008 Super Bowl team looked completely clueless against the Eagles and Titans.

Really wasn't a bad game. Steelers put up 464 yards. Yhe secondary is bad but we all knew that.

Losing by 7 against the defending SB Champs at their house in week one causes THIS sort of reaction? Just wow...

We have a large population of people who wear their hearts on their sleeves. Sadly, they also tend to be perfectionists.

I may or may not be guilty of being among them at times. ;)

Don't let it bother you. They're just venting. ;)

This pretty much echoes my feelings as well. Not to say this team is SB bound, but staying with the theme, the '06 team looked pretty unimpressive the first half of the season as well. While there no doubt was some awful football on display at times the other night, one would think that educating the secondary against losing track of players named Gronkowski multiple times in a game will come rather quickly. I also don't see Scobee having many games like that.

Of course, whether the units that did well continue to hold the same perforrmance is another matter. Inconsistency is a personal gripe of mine with Tomlin.

    This right here.

There's a lot of positive to take away from Thursdays game. Definitely doesn't feel like it was a "bad loss."

I had actually prepared myself for a blowout so I was somewhat pleasantly surprised that we hung in there. We actually had opportunities to win that game and just didn't capitalize.

I have no problem with venting. I kinda find it hilarious sometimes. But to want people fired and to be down after the game thurs is kinda ridiculous.
The offense looks unstoppable. I know the red zone problems beat us but it's week 1.
When the defense gets on the same page, and they will, they look fast and that is what we have all wanted for years.
As far as Tomlin how in the world can he be blamed for the lose? Just because u don't see him chewing butt doesn't mean he isnt. the camera isn't on him the whole game. I have been to games and seen him meet players coming off the field and follow them to the bench

The NFL put us in a NO WIN situation. The defending Super Bowl champion rarely loses the 'Kickoff Game' - unless you are the Ravens and the Orioles force you to play in Denver. Ha ha.

Anyway, when we saw the schedule, the vast majority of us knew we were screwed. In fact, many members on this board predicted Goodell would make us the Patriots victims.

We rarely have success against Golden Boy. Especially a scorned Golden Boy. I wanted a W just as much as anyone, but I knew it would be highly improbable.

A loss to the Patriots is not terribly upsetting for me. However, if we choke against SF next week, I'm jumping off the cliff with the rest of the lemmings.

And don't forget we didn't have two MAJOR offensive weapons in Bell and Bryant. We've got some amazing depth on offense and if our OL plays like it did on Thursday we should be unstoppable on offense. Unfortunately, our defense may not be able to stop anybody either so we'll have some 41-38 shootouts this year. Hey, as long as we score one more point that's all that matters, right?

The loss of Bell and Bryant didn't hurt us quite as much as it could have. We moved the ball very well but...it didn't translate into points. It wasn't that the Pat's D kept us from scoring though it's that we didn't execute at crucial times.
Bad play calling and poor execution at crucial times are the reason we lost the game. yeah, the secondary ( and pass defense as a whole) is horrendous but we could have overcome it.

If we go 2-2 we will be okay as long as we beat the Ravens. I've followed the Steelers for a lifetime and this team made many stupid mistakes in the game, but a lot of them can be fixed. So I feel the same about their chances this year as I did before the game. I think they will beat the 49'ers and be 1-1 after next weekend. It is going to be an interesting season.

I'm one of them. We can win by 24 and I can still find areas we need to improve.

Also, we may have lost by 7, but I don't feel the game was that close.

First game or not, I think they should have gone no huddle for at least 4 series. Was very disappointed that we allow the snap count to nearly expunge on almost every play during the game. First drive the Steelers owned the Pats on right up until the gadget play. That was the turning point in the game. Keep running the ball right down their throat and we come out vitorious with almost near certainty. Shanked FG right there and a short field for Brady just put the dagger into the Steelers and they could never recover. The communications problem didn't help and may have attributed to the loss even but I'm not excusing that. We know they cheat at every opportunity so they should be prepared to deal with it better.

The Steelers will be alright even if we do fall to the niners but they let an opportunity slip away. I'm disappointed but not losing my fandom over this one game.

Ben has never been able to snap the ball with more than 4 seconds on the playclock
and with the pats cheating it allows them to adjust their defense and Ben can't audible

Yep, I completely agree with you BobbyBiz. I was really hoping for a win, but it didn't feel as bad to lose this one based on a number of factors.
