1/ I saw a constant rotation of players that usually would not be in he game if Lebeau was still DC, namely Mccullers and Bud

This defense is young and raw (just like NE) but the score was not as bad a I expected, sometimes you have to let players play through mistakes, we will gel together!!!

2/ Dangelo Williams looks more than capable as a secondary back and hopefully gets 5 to 7 touches a game.

3/ HOW ABOUT THAT POWER FORMATION OF WILL JOHNSON AND ROOSEVELT NIX, THAT WAS STEELER FOOTBALL

4/ How much better is the O line under Munchak?

    5/ Antonio is Antonio

6/ The D line front DID get push but Brady gets the ball out quickly, sacks and hurries will come!

I would agree. Defense did better than I expected the offense did about as poorly as I expected with the exception of nobee who was TERRIBLE. Definitely saw some positive signs from the defense.

Positive signs? Young and Raw? They played against 3 rookie lineman and couldn't even get near Brady 98% of the game. At one point he completed 19 passes in a row I believe. He was practically throwing at will. We couldn't cover anyone I saw zero positive signs for the D. In fact I'm more worried then I was before because I thought against 3 rookie lineman we'd get way more pressure on Brady. Look for a very bad year statistically for the D. Hopefully it won't be to bad of a crutch for the Offense.

Actually I thought there were some good signs. The defence will take time like it did last year. So this is where the offence has to stand up. My hates are travelling 60 yards for a field goal. Why wont Haley spread the offense on first and goal, we constantly try to run up the middle against 11 man fronts. This has been going on since Arians, Im sick of it.

I'm not overly concerned about the result tonight. Sure, there were many head-in-hands moments. But things to consider:

    - There was no way the Pats were losing this game. The story was all set up for Brady's triumphant return.

    - I can see why we kept Nix now - to improve red zone running. Good stuff.

    - The offense got into sync more in the second half - why didn't we see more no-huddle?

    - The defense was all over the place, but looked far better in the second half. If Allen recovers that fumble instead of Gronk, the game could well have gone differently.

    - We're not up to full speed, but still had our chances to win.

And what everyone else has said.

Williams was running with fresh legs last night. Without him, this game would have been really ugly. He was gashing the Pats with that draw play. Usually I hate the draw, but it worked last night. Wonder if this is something they'll keep in the playbook once Bell comes back.

We need corners and safeties that can cover. That's the bottom line. The dline and linebackers will not get to the quarterback as quick as Brady threw the ball last night. They either gave Gronk a free release or didn't cover him. He is too talented for either plan.

I was disgusted last night, but after sleeping on it I see plenty of cause for optimism. 75% of the negative stuff that I saw tonight is correctable with our current roster. Really, the only stuff that I dont think our current roster allows for is improved safety play. They were horrid beyond belief. Only W Allen showed anything whatsoever. At the corner spot, Boykin needs to get up to speed and start. C Allen and Blake were very bad, but both could be adequate as 3rd/4th corners if we have Gay and Boykin starting. I also think that Blake will improve. I think we saw something from him down the stretch last year, and I'm sure he's embarrassed about his performance last night and will work to get straight. Also, I am very optimistic about Cockrell. I really liked him in the draft a couple of years ago, and he could be a solid contributor once he gets fully up to speed. He could very well be this year's McClain. We won't be good at corner, but should get to adequate.

KB has a lot of work to do, but I think the defense will be adequate by week 3 or 4, and could easily be an average NFL defense by mid season. With our offensive talent, average would be enough.

On offense it was all about execution and play selection. The talent is undeniable. We will get rolling on that side of the ball. The Patriots had no answer for our offense, and but for our own self destruction on offense we win that game even with the poor secondary play.

We will win the rematch in January.

I expected a BLOWOUT, this gives me some hope for a winning season

the Defense did better than expected,,,yeah Brady threw 4
TDs but they held him to under 300 yrds the Pats had less than 100 yrds rushing and we did get a couple sacks so all things consider ,,,not to shabby for a first outing,,,,

the offence was really not at all bad,,,Ben had 350 yrds and the rushing game was better than expected Williams will hold the fort until Bell is back together they just might be a force to be reckoned with and the receivers,,,,they had 350 yrds what more do you want

The run game in general, the line and Williams played lights out.

Not enough pass rush but I do like a lot of rotation on the Defense. Young Defense which should get better.

Maybe I'm not getting what you are saying here. I am confused about your comment about the offense. Are you saying you thought the offense didn't play well? I mean Scobee was ridiculously bad but the rest of our offense kept us in the game. Our defense was horrendous. Actually, our SECONDARY was horrendous. The line and LBs weren't horrible.

What I'm saying is with a bunch of scrubs and young players the d kept the pats under 30 points when they've put 50+ on us in the past in foxborough.

The offense that has a goal of 30 points per game barely made it to 21. Yeah they moved the ball and the run game was awesome, but we've moved the ball in the past. The issue has always been the ability to score and that continued tonight. It's no secret going into the season that the offense will carry the team this year and 21 points against a bottom 10 defense pretty much spells doom for our season .

I'm optimistic going forward but typical slow start from the offense that we've come to expect.

Make the two missed Field goals- 6 points missed

Don't Step out of bounds for an easy TD- 4 points missed

False start on 3rd and 1 from the 1 (Even if the Pats drew us into it)- 4 points

Recover a fumble on defense- 7 points

21 point swing. If a few things go the other way we win 35-21 perhaps.

I get ya. Our offense has always struggled putting points on the board down in the RZ and it's frustrating. That gimmick play by AB helped no one and stalled a promising start to the game. We fell behind and as others mentioned, Ben started to press some. While DeAngelo Williams had a good game, Ben really had no emergency dump off option in the passing game with Bell out. I think we missed Bell a lot.

Also, where was Archer on offense? They have a stout front seven, but not real fast. I would think putting Archer in there he would cause fits for their LB's trying to cover him. If we aren't going to use him in that situation, are we ever going to? We needed someone other than AB to provide some electricity for our offense, yet Archer stays on the sideline.
