I'm kind of in the "whatever" phase now. The Patriots cheat constantly and have for years. No one wants to or is able to do anything for some reason. I wasn't surprised at all that there was some kind of drama. With Bell and Bryant and working headsets, we win. We didn't so time to move on to whoever we play next.

The NFL under the absent Goodell has been a joke and is getting worse. It amazes me that the owners who put him in and stand by this bafoon aren't embarrassed.

It makes me wonder this NFL. I don't like the direction. To much show business...

They lost the game. That's all I know. Was there an unfair advantage? Yes. But this issue did not miss 2 field goals, have no answer for Gronkowski, stall drives. As bad as the secondary played there were a few bright spots. Sort out the secondary and press on.

I heard on Mike & Mike this morning but I couldn't verify: An article on the Steelers website stated that when the officials went over to turn off the pats headsets, all the headsets started working again. They figured everything was all good. Then as soon as they left, the steelers headsets went bizerk again.

The NFL better hope this is just a funny coincidence. If the Pats really did decide to cheat on opening day on national television immediately after the deflategate court trial is plastered all over the news then they have decided to say "**** it" and go nuclear. Nothing will be off limits at that point. Anthrax in the showers, player's families held hostage, laser listening devices aimed at the windows of opponents meeting rooms, nothing is off limits.

I'm listening also and heard the same thing. And just because the NFL supplies them doesn't mean the Patriots can't easily tamper with the signals. Maybe this was a way to get back at the NFL a little, knowing that they can say their the ones who supply them, hoping they get the blame. Or it could just be another way to keep people talking. Nothing would surprise me anymore.

It's not Steelers.com went into detail of what happened last night. Every time an NFL rep would come to check the headsets or shut down NEs the problem would disappear only to reappear once the rep left the sidelines. That's not a coincidence.

On Mike and Mike it was reported that they turned NE's headset off as soon as the problem was known. Still doesn't look good for NE that this happened, not that they care, they get away with everything.

How many asterisks do we have to put next to their name now? I've kinda lost track.

This is what the Patriots were doing...to the league, to the other owners, to the media...

They are the most arrogant, scumbag organization in the history of professional sports. They make Davis, Madden, and the 70s Raiders look like choir boys.

Bill said the Pats had problems with it for most of the night too but that still doesn't cover up the fact that Tomlin said it "always" happens there. Does it "always" happen for Bill?

Look, even if it was all innocent (in doubt), there has been a clear, persistent history of these "problems" for YEARS in Gillette. Opposing teams have repeatedly filed complaints to the league about it.

And just days ago, we get that ESPN report listing tampering of communications among their alleged misdeeds.

So is it any wonder people doubt their integrity?

I'm sorry (not sorry), Massholes. You made your bed. Now lie in it.

(We would have lost regardless. Make no mistake. That doesn't excuse bad behavior)

What he failed to mention was that when it happens, a signal man throws his hand up telling the sideline to "go dark". They practice and game plan for communicating without headsets all summer so it's virtually business as usual. :sneak:

Yeah. Hours after the game was over we hear about it for the first time. No mention made while the game was being played.

    Forgive me if I'm skeptical.

Yeah I should have clarified my statement to say that "NFL.COM went to great lengths to point out that Bill said that but DIDN'T say if it 'always' happens to Bill". I wasn't meaning my statement to sound like I believed Bill because I don't. One thing that DOES annoy me though, from our standpoint, is that if it "always" happens there then why in the crap have we not thrown down on this already? We've been absolutely walloped by these guys before and if we had communication problems then why have we not went off about this before? Maybe they have but Tomlin almost seemed a little desperate in mentioning it if you think about it because maybe that's sorta his way to get the media to dig because OBVIOUSLY the league is not going to.

You make it sound like this bothers the Pats. Bill is probably in heaven. Every second opposing coaches spend thinking about this kind of stuff is a second they aren't thinking about important stuff like how do we cover Gronk in the red zone or how do we keep Eldelman from catching all the third downs.

I disagree that we would have lost regardless. The miscommunication on the first Gronk TD more than likely was a result of the headset malfunction which is the difference in the score.

I agree that it's convenient for him to make that statement last night. Tomlin, regardless of what people might say about him, has never struck me as a crybaby and I feel like if he's mentioning something he must feel very strongly that something is amiss.

I don't know man. I mean it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that you keep your eye on 87 every second of the game and you get up on him. I know that sometimes assignments are gonna be blown but THAT assignment is top priority life or death. I do think the headsets played a part in at least frustrating our coaches though.

He didn't seem desperate to me. He seemed angry and like he was having a hard time censoring himself. Blaming other teams or external factors and chastising other organizations publicly isn't really Tomlin's MO. Usually he's pretty much 'we own it, it's our stink. We're forced to smell it.' :lolol:

Yes! This is coming from a guy that doesn't like to make waves for fear of being fined by the NFL!

I meant more desperate in the sense of trying to get people to dig in to this story. Like a last ditch effort or something. I agree 100% it's not his style and that's what I was saying above to Ray. I just feel like teams as a whole are fed up with these guys having so many unfortunate incidents on their turf but they feel like the league turns a blind eye because of the incredible monetary draw of the pats. The love of money is the root of all evil and all that.
