Hit Brady early and often then hit him some more, get him off his spot or he will dink and dunk the whole game. Jam those midget WRs Edelman and Amendola at the line of scrimmage, none of that 10 yd cushion crap that LeBeau ran use double coverage on Gronk. I could see Wheaton having a big game, if they cover AB with two defenders, Ben needs to throw the ball deep even without Bryant playing let DHB use his speed to take the top off the coverage. If Ben throws it deep to DHB he probably won't catch it :roflmao:but he may be able to draw some PI flags.

Agreed. Hell, risk the big play and bring the house very damned play. Put Tommy Boy on his derriere often enough, and he cries to Mama and goes into a shell.

Too bad most teams don't have the cajones to do just that. We have no choice. It's that, or play our patented soft cushion, catch and chase defense and watch Brady throw for 600 yards and 9 TDs on us.

Pressure. IMMENSE pressure is the only way to beat him.

So, here's a question. Would you as a defensive coordinator tell your players to hit him even after he gets rid of the ball? Maybe take the PF penalties early and hope you get him off his game? Do the Steelers really have the horses for an effective pass rush, aside from Harrison who can't play every down? And, let's face it, you know he'll be held on every play anyway. Which makes me think, would it behoove Harrison to start falling on the ground when he's held to make it look more like a hold?

If Butler continues the 10 yard corner cushion, we have LESS than zero chance of winning. Jamming the WRs is essential. Otherwise, Brady will dink and dunk at will...and will get NO grass stains on his pants. The dude is gonna have some serious venom and very well could break records Thursday night.

Any word on Timmons? Who is gonna attempt to cover Gronk?

Cannot believe Golden Boy didn't at least serve a 1 game suspension. And how the heck did his case get expedited, whereas other court cases take years to be heard. I respect his talents...definitely in the GOAT conversation, but I loathe his arrogance.

Everyone knows you have to hit Brady, knowing it and doing it are two different things. He gets rid of the ball so freaking fast it's almost impossible to do and it's not just a matter of jamming the receivers to accomplish it because plenty of teams do that and still can't get to him.

Hope Butler has something good up his sleeve.

If we let mediocre QB's dink on us, imagine Brady? Lol. Plus he's a deep threat too, and you can't sneeze his way. I hope refs are on our side

if they don't get to Brady ( sacks really don't matter ) and put him on his butt so he starts worrying about it,,,,,,,it's going to be a long-long day

The good news is that their D is just as questionable as ours is. The bad news is that our D is questionable. I think it comes down to a shootout and the fact that we should be able to run the ball effectively.
Even with Bryant and Bell out we have a chance at this if our D doesn't totally stink up the place and fall apart.

Need to play press coverage first and foremost. We need to hit all of their TE'S at the LOS zero free releases. Play a boxing 1 on Gronk ,man him up no matter if it's man or zone . Go for the ball not the hit both on sacks and the passing game.

On Offense keep running DHB deep if they refuse to cover him then throw it . If they respect the speed then hit Wheaton and Miller underneath . Score TD'S and go for 2 we will need all the points we can get .

Yes I would indeed have a player take him out of the game regardless of the consequences .. Sorry but that's really how I feel

    Play through the whistle :)

The Pats run the ball plenty. A bigger concern might be how well the defense is able to stop or slow down the Pats run. If the Steelers DB's simply worry about the passing game or play press coverage the front 7 will have little help containing the run.

Sorry folks but NFL games don't play like Madden.

Actually press Coverage gives you more run support . When you press DB'S become the force on outside runs which allows your LB'S to run inside out. If you play off then you have to widen the LB splits to help cover the outside which opens up more room inside to run....

I get my Madden out of my own playbook ,I don't like their defensive schemes so much.lol

Press coverage does not necessarily give more run support. It would depend on different variables. Down and distance, which press coverage techniques are being employed, ect. Not only that, but it's very doubtful that the Steelers have the CB's necessary to play press coverage well consistently.

One reason the Steelers were so good at stopping the run in the past was due to the fact that they expected DBs to help in run support. Playing off often allows the CB the advantage of not giving up the big play and recognizing a run play sooner.

Press coverage isn't necessarily the answer. Seattle is the best at that, and the Pats beat them in the super bowl...

We can win playing our own game, we just need to eliminate mistakes on the defensive side and score TD's in the red zone when we have the chance. A turnover or two would help as well.

As long as we're not giving up tons of big plays and we do our best to limit Gronk, I don't see why we can't hold them to 20-24 points. We do that, we will win the game.

If they're going to score, make them take their time to do it. Dink and dunk? Fine. Keep rotating the LBs and see their o-line wear down as the game goes on.

I agree with SGSteeler, the key is not give up the big play, and not be chasing the game early on.

Pressure up the middle is key. Brady hates pressure in his face. If you only get pressure off the edges, he will either get rid of the ball before the edge rush can get there, or step up in the pocket.

I would risk the PF penalties to get some hits on Brady, make him assume the fetal position Butler needs to send 6-7 guys on the blitz. Blitz Shazier up the middle the Patriots starting FB is on IR. When the Steelers beat the Patriots a few years ago, LeBeau changed up the defense they weren't giving the WRs cushion.

D.L. showed the blue print a few seasons back. Should've been the same blue print against the pack in the bowl! Only problem is we don't have the talent we did then. Either way, jam their receivers! Chip Gronk coming off the line EVERYTIME! Disrupt their routes and hope that's the extra second is enough to knock Tommy on his duff! If we don't get to him, were screwed... But if we can disrupt route timing we might be alright. If the cushions dominate our d layout for this game it's gonna get ugly quick.

I would also adopt a philosophy like the Seahawks in that even if they do call PI penalties or defenseless receiver penalties they aren't going to call them all. I think it is a foregone conclusion that the Pats will move the ball in dinks and dunks down the field so the occasional 15 penalty isn't going to be much different so why not jam the receivers hard and hit them hard at every opportunity. I would rather them take a beating than giving them a free release. I don't think it is going to be the blow out everyone thinks it is. Despite Darth Hoodies magic their offense is in disarray. Lafell is out, Blount is suspend for the game, the cut Gray and released Wayne, they have two undersized slot receivers one with a bad leg and the other is a James Harrison hit away from being a vegtable(or at least shelved for the season. The lone bright spot is that Brady is playing and Gronk is his primary target but he also has a weakened shoulder so high low him and drop him on that shoulder. plus like everyone is saying get iin Brady's face and hit him let Cam Heyward just get nasty on him or let the Mountain push the center into him that will disrupt his timing.

    And protect Big Ben..
You know Bellicheat is gonna send his boys hard after our qb, too..

Play the Craven`s game, and launch a few balls deep, to get the inevitable pass interference call..

or get the deep completion... either way, we can get big gains against them..

Haley is smart enough to set these plays up, early, with his short passing game...

to me, this game is gonna be more about outscoring, them, than, stopping them...

And we still have the talent to do it, even without Bell, and Bryant...

Yes, we wanna rattle Brady, but, it`s gonna take more than that, to win the game, imho...

Our offense is gonna have to get in the endzone.
Preferrably early, and often, and not settle for fieldgoals, in a hostile environment...

I still believe we can beat this team, but, it`s gonnna take a lot of points to do it, and no stupid mistakes/penalties, from our side, to do it!!

Focus, and don`t make stupid mistakes/ back ourselves up, when we are moving the ball,

And we still have plenty of talent to beat the Cheatriots in their own house!!

    GO STEELERS!!!!:herewego!:

It's a nice idea, but let's be serious here. If Brady realises they're going for the hits, he simply calls quick release plays and makes sure the ref is aware of every time he's even brushed by a defender.

The guy is out to prove a point, he isn't going to fold. Instead, we need to go over their weaknesses, try and exploit their slow starting, and try and make him hold that ball for a second or so longer by disrupting some timing, putting guys where Brady doesn't expect them to be etc.

The lowly Jets under Ryan seem to give the Patsies fits at times, so I would look at what Ryan did in the past and try to glean what I could from that tape.

Agree about pressure on Brady being a key.

On offense, we need to get ahead early and keep scoring. If this is a win, it will have to be like the game against the Colts last year.
