The Steelers had former Browns DT Phil Taylor in for a visit today. When healthy, the dude can play. He had at least two knee injuries last year. He asked to be released and the Brows obliged. Thoughts?

    What spurred this visit exactly?

My initial thoughts would be..lets bring in some safeties. Never opposed to bolstering the lines on either side of the ball, but the safety position is the weak link right now imo.

Safety is definitely a concern but I'm curious if maybe Tuitt's ankle might be worse than they thought OR they have seen the light on Cam Thomas??? LOL!

Oh I hope Tuitt's ankle is not worse than they thought. That would be tough to hear.

As soon as I saw that he was released I kinda hoped against hope that they would bring him in. He is coming off some injuries but solid run stopper the likes of which we hadn't seen since Big Snack. I hope they pick him up solid role guy.

If he's on Casey's level I would absolutely take him. We've not been able to make teams one dimensional in a long time.

i first thought, i hope we talk to him, but never thought we would. maybe we can get rid of cam thomas now and move mclendon to a Pt Nt role and a backup DE role. we could save a spot by only keeping 5 DL.

Sounds like he would be a good depth signing.

    My thoughts...

    I don`t usually like taking Clowns` cast-offs...

Where would he fit, on the line, and rotation wise?

He is a hell of a player, if healthy...

    How healthy is he?

Before his surgeries, he was a pretty damn good player.

Who would he be knocking off the roster if we sign him?

I like looking at him as a possibility...

Not sure if we NEED him...

Pretty sure he will get a chance somewhere...

Would he be an upgrade over who we cut to get him?

That`s my thoughts. Looking forward to answers/opinions...

    GO STEELERS!

I'd love to roll the dice on him and see if he's healthy. He was dominant pre-injury.

You wouldn't take LT Joe Thomas from the Browns? The Steelers need DL depth, who cares if he played for the Browns.

Ive never seen us so active in an offseason....

I think it is less Tuitt, and more Mccullers and Cam Thomas have not impressed in the past few weeks.

True. True. There are certainly a few that would look much better in a Steelers uniform, though. :)

Great post! I suppose adding Alex Mack or Joe Haden would also be frowned upon?

The Browns imo as of right now have the best defense in the division, if we can plug in a spot for Phil Taylor i'm all for it. He may have more too offer here than in Cleveland plus a little insight to the Browns playbook.

He may want to stay in division to get back at the Brownies.

My thoughts? First Danny Shelton must be really impressing the coaches, which means Wallace better be ready. As you know I was a fan of Shelton ,,,,......

Next is how healthy is Taylor and is his head/attitude where it belongs. The Browns are paying his guaranteed 5mil salary yet cutting him.

According to Dulac, his knee isn't ready and the Steelers won't be signing him. Couldn't pass the physical and sounds like he needs another surgery.
