Steelers are in fact reworking his contract. Won't be taking the $3.425 Mil hit.

Yes they traded a 5th for Boykin and now a 7th (I'm guessing for Scobee)
It's not a huge deal as they were going to have two 5th round rounders I believe in 2016, now down to one.
I'm sure they have multiple 7th round picks, one might be a conditional pick for a player lost in Free Agency.
Also not a huge deal with a 7th rounder very rare you find a great player. 50 percent of 7th rounders never make an active NFL roster ever.

I'm liking this deal if it was indeed a 7th round pick, and if his contract is being reworked. Scobee is a pretty solid kicker who can boot it. He has multiple 50+ yard field goals including a 59 yarder, and had a nearly 60% touch back percentage the past 2 seasons. Probably the best option available to us at this juncture.

Now, let's get him to pre-ice every muscle and joint before Thursday's game.

Maybe they saw how that plan worked out with the secondary...

At this point don't even have him kick on Thursday. Hire a guy off the street to kick for Thursday so Scobee doesn't get injured! :)

According to La Canfora, Scobee will receive his full $3.425 Mil, but the Jags will be paying a portion of it. They wanted to add another year to his deal, but it didn't happen.

Why? Are they done with Sushi and Hartley? Wouldn't extending him have been an overreaction?

The Steelers gave a 6th round pick for Scobee.

Not bad. Ideally you use that 6th rounder on a new kicker, but Swish has some years left assuming his knee holds up, and there didn't appear to be many options out there for a contending team to select from. Smart move to guarantee yourself a quality mercenary kicker to take pressure off the coverage unit and maintain a positive percentage on long field goal attempts.

Kinda crazy how this all happened. Who would imagine that we'd lose two kickers before the season even started?

That's pretty god for the Jags, have a kicker for 12 season and still get a 6th round pick

I like it... Both trades Boykin and Scobee. Seems like we're thinking a little outside the box for a change and getting pretty good talent out of it.

Do you really want to leave 100+ points a season to whatever you can find off the scrap heap?

Still not as good a bargain as the 7th round pick the Skins gave us for Huey Richardson. :)

The Steelers filled a very dire need but my big concern is kicking the ball in Jacksonville Fla is much different than in Western PA come the winter months. Hopefully it's a non factor. What other choice(s) did they have though.

Now that he's a steeler kicker ...I fully expect some drunk pics to show up on line, failed drug test, and a blown knee by mid season. Sorry but jesus. I used to be very proud of the fact that we held our players to a higher standard...and our kickers were awesome. Them were the days.

So what is the future of Suisham then? I can't see how he gets kicked to the curb next year... did we really give up a draft pick for a one year hired gun?
