The point is that is how YOU choose to deal with this and, presumably, other situations and that is fine. Some are going to need to deal with the Vick thing in another way and you getting pissed about it isn't going to change anything either.

In 2 days though, this one has gotten some legs vs. threads that span years. Lots of opinions. and you know what they say about opinions...

We are dealing with it, by venting. Moving on will come in time, stop trying to tell everyone how to live. Really don't know what your problem is.

Yeah considering I'm still brooding about the front office thinking Carey Davis having more upside than Dan Kreider this one will take some time.

I was trying to be nice by calling you annoying. If I called you what I really think you are I'm sure TTF would not be happy. I used the disagree button because I'm getting tired of dealing with someone that can't do anything but repeat themselves over and over so I was trying to avoid having to even communicate with you. By the way I never said anything relating to the Steelers bringing Vick on board. I said something about Vick period. And you telling me how much of a man you are simple tells me how much of a man you are not and probable never will be. You can respond if you need to but I'm done wasting my time with someone like you.

Just a random thought, but some times freedom speech gets stretched a little bit. Non the less, I'll still fight for that right.

But I will admit, having Vick on the team nauseates me. There was a time, about 2 days ago, when my favorite team was thought of as a class act.

Maybe it was all a big set up ? Not a bad way at all to get Vick in turn up the heat then throw that heat on Bryant ......I bet Vick had to supply the weed ....

Success does not come quickly or easily. Through those steps we make mistakes. We all come from different places and learn. What is ok with your friends is not ok with your mother. It takes mistakes to understand the line.

Some people come from different ways of life. I will not expect an infant to understand politics. The norm is the norm based on social and environmental influences.

We don't like the actions of some but I expect them to learn.

There has, apparently, been a increased awareness by Vick. I congratulate the perceived growth and understanding.

I however dont like the attention that has been received. The attention is not needed and may create a lack of focus. That's my issue.

I love my Steelers, for at least 40 yrs I been unwavering and dedicated and Loyal. I'm not going to.leave them now, but Vick sickens me. He just couldn't fight them and just couldn't kill them. He had to torture them till they died, the heart that beats in that man is disgusting and Honestly... I will most likely boycott any game he plays in. I just don't think I can watch him play. I'm getting old and want # 7 before I pass but I'd rather lose with Landry.

@TheSteelHurtin2188 I had a thought occur to me this morning and haven't had time to ask you about it. For the last few days you have been sticking to the belief that it is very much the culture in the south where Vick was raised that dog fighting is acceptable and there is nothing wrong with it. You even came examples of being told racist things your how life would you know that they are racist and that you were in fact a racist. So accepting this premise that spending most of your childhood, preteen, teenage years thinking that there is nothing wrong with dig fighting or torturing dogs would mean that you would see nothing wrong with it. This doesn't account for the time he spent in college where I am sure he would have had interactions with people who didn't feel this way nor to say anything about his life after college in the professional spheres. I'm sure Arthur Blank didn't show him how to set up a dog fighting ring but I digress. So anyways in order to accept the premise that he had no idea that this was wrong because of how he was raised, how did he change?

See to have something like that so ingrained in who you are to the point that you can not find anything morally wrong with treating any life as cheaply as he did would mean that any change would be hard to achieve since you would be unable to admit that its wrong despite all evidence to the contrary. To be desensitized to the point of doing this for seven years with out feeling the slightest bit of remorse and yet after you're caught, arrested, vilified, imprisoned, for it you have some sort of life altering epiphany that allows you to suddenly walk away from years and years and years of programming that told you that you weren't doing anything wrong stretches what is believable. How did he change?

Easy 500 and some odd days in jail and working with PETA and the Humane Society. There haven't been plenty of cases where gang bangers have gone to jail and had time to sit down and actually review their lives and do their best to turn it around. I know its few and far between but sometimes prison actually does what it is supposed to do. I had a really close friend who started smoking weed with his parents at the age of 9 and selling for them by the age of 10. When he got arrested at 17 with a couple of pounds on him and went up state he had time to actually sit and reflect away from all of his bad influences(his family) and really turned his life around. He said sitting in a cell with nothing else to do other then think will really open your eyes up to some things. I talked to him a few weeks ago and he has had zero contact with his family since he got out of prison and still harbors a lot of anger towards his parents for opening his life up to that. Before he got arrested though he thought nothing was wrong with it. I don't care what anybody says your upbringing molds you into the person you are either good or bad it just depends on what is instilled in you at a young age.

I will take your word on it never having had anyone I've known had that kind of serious life altering jail time experience. I do know plenty about being raised a certain way and it molding you and I agree with everything you said. I think there are positives and quite obviously negatives. I also know that patterns are very hard to break. My wife hasn't smoked in over five years but if I were to give her a pack of Marlboro reds and lit one for her I am almost sure she would smoke it rather than say no, just because the habit is so strong. My older brother quit drinking for almost 16 years and then one day when he was feeling down started again and fell right back into old habits. So that is why I asked the question because it occurs to me that in order for him to completely change, Mick Vick would have to remove any piece of that old life for fear that old habits and patterns would seem appealing.

I would assume Vick has cut all those people out of his life but I can't say for sure if he did or not. The things I have done and people I know is why I'm always willing to give someone a second chance and believe everyone deserves a second chance at life. Now admittedly I even I would struggle giving a chomo a second chance so maybe I need to just view this as some people see what he did is as bad as molesting a child even though in my head that makes no sense.

TTF is it wrong that I don't mind the accosting. You see, I tend to let's just say "irritate" my wife and for that reason any affection I receive is well received!

As for Vic...it was probably a smart decision to sign him but the question remains...was it worth signing him and to that end I would have to say, NO! I think that sums this thread up!

The good it does probably outweighs the bad. I'm sure he donates a bunch of money.Plus I doubt that he's a spokesperson or the face of their organization.

I believe it started as part of his restitution....

I think they see it as look at what a monster this guy was. Now look how he's helping these poor animals after realizing the error of his ways.
