I thought he slowed up a little as well.

Goodwin would have to be DHBs closest competition right now imo.

Coates did appear winded a bit at that point. No I didn't count the long ball DHB is known for bad hands so i only count catchable balls not targets.

So, we are only going to have one thread a month about a #4 receiver with bad hands? Now I feel better.

Will all you DHB haters get on board now ? Or will you still root for him to fail ? DHB is now the #3 for a few games at least . Do I think he will drop a few balls ? Yes I do . I also think he will catch a lot more than he drops and he will contribute to this Offense . His speed is still great and he will still stretch the field .

People need to start judging him as a 4th. string WR on a vet minimum contract instead of a 1st. round bust . He is here for exactly these types of situations . This is exactly what I have been saying about his value to this Team all along.

He has earned his check on ST'S and blocking as a WR. He will now be called on to do just a bit more and he will answer the bell just the way me and Coach Tomlin believe that he will. With above the line play .

    Here's hoping, PWP.

It stings if we lose Bryant. But we are looking at some good talent in the WR corps at the moment. I'm not as big a fan of DHB as you are, but I can see his ability, and the potential he has to step in if we do, indeed, lose Bryant for a bit.

But when you say things like DHB is a better option over Wheaton, your points about DBH lose validity. At this point though, I think he will do fine at the 3 while Bryant is suspended. Or we can thrust Coats in for more experience. If we did that and IF (big if) he shows talent similar to what Bryant did last year, would we explore possibly trading Bryant after the suspension? He already has two substance abuse offenses, a third would be 10 games right? Is it worth it? I don't think personally that it is.

Regardless, Brown's value increased even more, so he will command an extra large contract. Pray he doesn't use this as leverage and doesn't hold out. Wheaton's value is also increased. He has been having an excellent camp and seems to have a much better head on his shoulders than Bryant, if the reports are true that this is his second positive drug test.

When I talk about DHB being better than Wheaton I mean as a complete WR. Wheaton was very poor with YAC last year he was also a lazy route runner when not the primary target. His blocking was suspect for half the season , but the Team continued to give him lots of reps. At that point DHB was indeed a better option , but I do see the plan of getting the more talented hands WR to step up the rest of his game.

To his credit he improved greatly in route running and in his blocking, he still needs to do better with his YAC , but he is now a more complete WR than DHB , but not by miles because DHB is still the bigger, faster, and better blocking WR . Everyone in the World knows if DHB had hands like Brown he would be all World just like him , but he does not not to many do .

As to the trading of Bryant I don't think anyone will want to touch him. Some great Football players just can't seem to not do dope, hard to risk a future pick on a guy in the midst of such a personal battle. Chances are just as good he washes out as he becomes the star he was looking like he was going to be at this point.

Ok.. Wait a second PWP. This whole DHB - one thread a month promise is a scam if you use any and every opportunity to bump it to the top when everybody else has stopped talking about him. That's false advertising man!

I still say he gets cut. Even more so since Bryant is suspended. They need guys who can catch. DHB was ok as a ST guy and an emergency back up at WR, but now that the Steelers know they are without their #2WR for four games they'll go with a guy who can actually catch the ball. JMO

Oh no you don't. There are no loopholes here. What do you think this is, the federal tax code? :roflmao:

We should probably have an informal poll in this thread. Is PWP's shameless bumping of his "one thread a month" legit, or is it the equivalent of "I didn't inhale?"

The tax code should be so fair . Stated the fact of only 1 thread a month and have stuck with it. Better to bump than to hijack another thread . Had a perfect 1 in talking about WR'S , but I kept my response focused on them as a group and refused for Important DHB info to leak out into that thread . When DHB comes looking for his hate mail and his fan mail I intend for us to have it all nice and neat in the appropriate 1 Thread a month folders.

Other players are requesting you guys do the same thing to help streamline the process......

Seriously though, I think DHB keeps his roster spot. Coates, in my eyes, hasnt done much to have a spot on the 53 but he will get a pass due to his draft position and supposed potential. I like Goodwin and Murphy better right now than Coates but DHB is ahead of all 3. Not for receiving ability but for his other contributions.

I like the guy. The story about the high school lights last year was great. I just hope he gets to be that guy in that super bowl that makes that play. Not mvp but like a pin deep punt play, a fumble recovery play, a hustle play that will entrench him into steeler lore for years.

For the record, I like DHB and would like to see him do good things for us. I just haven't seen anything from him as a WR that would justify putting him on a pedestal as a future star. I like having him on the roster as a 5th WR and S-teamer, but if I ever see an important pass headed his way I'll be yelling "please, please, PLEASE, don't drop it!" I also wouldn't keep him over a promising young player.

I'm not sure I buy into the whole several years behind other WRs thing. Plenty of guys develop quicker than that, many of whom make position changes from other positions like QB. Heck, if we needed a big catch I would trust former QB Murphy's hands more than DHB's.
