Yup, Federal prison is far from a picnic.

It's not what "White Collar" crime people go to. http://www.businessinsider.com/take-a-tour-of-americas-cushiest-prison-2012-10

But if you're convicted of misdemeanor tax charges like Wesley Snipes, you get sent to a medium security Federal prison..... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_Correctional_Institution,_McKean

Vick will forever carry his Scarlet Letter and is branded for the rest of his life. At the time of his crimes, he was young and dumb, failing to make good life choices. Perhaps he has matured and prepared to make better choices in the future...which I am sure he will since he will always be heavily scrutinized by the public eye.

It is interesting to me how some people show more vile and venom for him as compared to rapists, murderers and pedophiles.

Anyway, I predict that Big Ben stays healthy ALL season and dominates. Therefore, Vick remains buried on the bench and barely even noticed. So really not much of a story.

And FWIW, I don't understand Tomlin's man crush for Vick. His recent completion percentages have been atrocious. Maybe we should have waited for more camp cuts. Oh well.

I like many other fans was disappointed with the signing of Michael Vick. I was a fan when he was in Atlanta as he was exciting to watch. As an animal lover/dog owner, I was absolutely appalled at his dog fighting activities and the brutality he was involved with around it. If/when he does see the field, I like others, may have a hard time routing for him.

This has forced me to look deep inside myself as a Christian. While I may not forgive his actions, I must forgive the man. We all make mistakes we wish we could take back. Unfortunately, some mistakes are more atrocious than others. In Vick's case, regardless of NFL status or everyday joe, his was atrocious.

I'm going to say, I forgive Vick and hope that he has learned from his mistakes and hope he is mentoring others not to make the mistakes he has made.

Show me one on the team and I'll show you the same venom. I'd personally throw the switch on the chair for any of those crimes if I was allowed to.

And no, Ben didn't rape anyone but lets not beat that horse anymore.

I don't give a **** about forgiveness. My problem is with him being associated with the Steelers.

And I'm not sure what you are forgiving him for, since you are not the one he wronged.

Actually I don't take you're post seriously at all since it follows the pattern of all Vick apologist posts. "What he did was horrible but ..." and then a couple of sentences later the horrible act morphs into a "mistake". Hey, we all make mistakes, don't we?

For example, Jeffrey Dahmer made the "mistake" of drugging, raping, torturing, killing, and eating, a string of victims. It was all very horrific, but we all make mistakes. Surely we should've found it in our Christian hearts to give the man a 2nd chance ... if the law of the jungle hadn't cured that particular disease on its own.

A mistake is giving someone $90 dollars change for a $100 bill. Industrialized evil is not a "mistake".

If Vick deserves forgiveness, I'll let god handle that. As far as I'm concerned he's a soulless piece of crap who only became acquainted with remorse when his actions cause him pain.

I'm sorry, but Vick is now a permanent part of Steelers history. You can't bury a player deep enough on the bench to make this disappear ...

Yeah, I remember when I was young and dumb and tortured and killed dogs for kicks.

This freak set up a kennel for the sole purpose raising dogs to be tortured and fed to other dogs ... for his amusement.

Maybe people should stick to defending Vick's actions by speculating that his herpes damaged his brain.

So, we're going to reign this in a bit today. If you want to voice your opinion on the signing in a way that's congruent with the board rules- awesome- please do. If you've already got dozens of posts in this thread, it's probably safe to say that everyone knows your opinion on the topic, and you're not going to change anyone's mind. If you're looking to argue or discuss something completely unrelated to the Michael Vick signing, please don't. No whales, Christianity, Nuremberg, pot, pedophilia, etc. :)

New threads that are basically a reply to something in this thread will be merged.

I posted about the emails that I get yesterday. Oddly enough, I got a phone call last night. The caller left a scathing message about Vick. That's never happened before. I've gotten a couple other calls before, but nothing where someone was just sounding off about their feelings on a topic like that.

Reaffirms the fact that Mike Vick is one polarizing dude. Sad that the owners and FO of the Steelers were willing to drag the franchise and fan base into the mire lIke this. They had to know what was going to happen, they are smart folks. I really hate to see our fans torn apart like this. Rooney, Colbert, Tomlin - is all this worth it for an arguably washed up backup QB?

At this rate, you'll have grounds to sue Vick for third party harassment. Or something like that.

TTF, just out of curiosity, what is the biggest/longest thread minus gameday threads on the MB since you started it?

It looks like a Steelers vs Ravens gameday thread in 2012. It had over 1,650 replies. A lot of other gameday threads were up there.

Tomlin wanted to bring Vick here as soon as he got out of prison but the Rooneys wouldn't allow it to happen. I wonder why they changed their minds?

I gave you a friendly warning by telling you to take it easy yesterday, I hoped you would take the friendly hint.

You are accosting Jim about measuring sins but you sure seem to be measuring James Harrison's in this thread. Let's put it to rest.
