OK I normally can't stand him but Mark Madden about hit the nail on the head for me. Also to prove my point that animals are more important then people or at least dogs over women as one poster said its better to hit a woman then kill a dog toady was Originally women's equality day as today is the day they got the right to vote but everyone is more focused on national fricking dog day.

TTF - You have the perfect avatar for being the overseer here. I'd hate to be in your position but admire the job you do greatly. Keep up the good work and thanks for giving us this forum express our feelings and sometimes vent a bit.

I have a feeling that if Mike Vick comes in and tosses a couple TD's in a preseason game then the temperature will cool off greatly around here.

Of coarse what he did in the past is intolerable to most of us if not everyone here but lets hope that he changed his outlook towards all creatures of this earth. I have to believe doing any time gives that person time to ponder their actions and gives them hope that they can be a better person or at least should have been one all along.

My biggest concern is how he actually fits our system. TH would have to rewrite an entirely new playbook should he be called into regular season action. Every offensive player would have to perform differently and that is why I really don't understand the signing unless it's just for possible PR gain should he win comeback player of the year award in some miraculous way. (gasp) It would actually be about a million to one shot at this point in his career.

Yes, he committed horrible acts in the past but there are far more dirtbag's on this planet and if he can change then that brings a sliver of hope that others can too. I don't have to cheer for him but being a Steeler's fan I won't cheer against him either if he can help our team achieve another successful season that leads us to a 7th Lombardi.

Lol there are just some things that really get under my skin and this thread hit on a lot of them. All that was missing was someone disrespecting the American flag. And I haven't had a smoke for roughly 49 hours now.

I bet I can get under your skin.

If Vick were stuck on a set of train tracks and a dog stuck on another set of tracks, I know which one I am saving. ;)

Yea good luck....... I quit 20 some years ago. Best decision I ever made. Can't imagine how much money I would have blown during that time at 2 packs a day. My advice. Chew coffee stir straws like its nobody's business for 3 months and don't look back.

That's a start. Turn the 5 minutes into 1 hr, then 1 hr. into 1 day, then 1 day into 1 week, then a week into 1 month. Next thing you know it might be 20 years or more. Somebody bet I couldn't quit. Bets bet of my life. May have saved it actually.

As soon as this picture came out we should have recognized Dan for the thug he is....Because I am pretty sure he signed off....as well as the rest of the Rooneys...Tomlin...Colbert..most of the locker room....I cant even imagine how many horrible atrocities they have committed in name of "the Steeler way"

FYI...I realize this was to imply that I have a poor moral compass...and have committed horrible things in my life....and I probably have...Never claimed to be a good man...but I do try...I try to help my fellow man...and I am a huge dog person...I actually have been legally documented as someone "who treats their dog better than most people treat their kids"

But it does not bother me what you think of me....you don't know anything about me...and you mean absolutely nothing in what is my life....at the end of the day....I didn't sign him...I didn't give him money...The people that have been praised for the Steeler Way did.....so either embrace the Steeler Way.....which evidently includes signing Mike Vick....or realize that maybe...just maybe.....no one cares what Joe Message Board has to say....and your opinion means just as much as mine...which is nothing....and they can do whatever they want (run their business how they see fit)......and you can do whatever you want(root for a different color jersey)

Supermans cape is not as clean as it was yesterday...and the people cried.

Trai Essex's disorderly conduct made me a Browns fan for a year.

Seriously though, what does any of that matter regarding how someone feels about the team signing Vick? It's irrelevant.

Because how can you look past all of that and then say well he did this and the Steelers signed him so I'm done. I mean good lord the Steelers had a guy that was actively pimping out girls while playing for the Steelers. Then have the nerve to questions other morals over how they feel about this.

There's no talking anyone down on either side. There's also nothing you can do about the signing that is going to change the fact that he's signed. Either you watch and root for the team or you don't watch. Either way the NFL will make it's money and keep rolling on....

I can't speak for those people personally. I imagine some could easily argue that the list you provided doesn't have anything on the level of what Vick did, nor were the details nearly as publicized. Saying 'you didn't quit the team over player x getting caught smoking and driving, so how dare you suggest doing so over Vick' doesn't really make sense.

Good lord about Seigler? How much significant playing time did he have here? He was on the practice squad when the team cut him after being arrested. Unless I'm not remembering that correctly.

No, it's not torture. It's cruel in the same way that keeping a large hunting dog in an apartment is cruel. All Sea World's orcas have been born in captivity. They wouldn't know what to do in the wild. I agree that they shouldn't be kept in the tanks they're in but, what do you do with them? Before you say, "release them", remember Keiko.

No you are remembering correctly but I find it highly doubtful that the Steelers were blindsided by this. Teams know too much about their players and he had adds on Craig's list

TTF while many of those incidents may be apples and oranges....I know several people who have lost people to drunk driving...or have been close enough to domestic violence.....that those things hit much closer to home than dog fighting....and I believe his point was saying that people are Ok signing Vick are somehow bad people who think dog fighting is ok......is to people who didnt leave when DUI and Domestic violence must be ok..and think driving under the influence and beating your spouse is ok.....Not that I am trying to put words in his mouth...but thats how I took it.

I have a good friend who actually tours the country doing a show about the dangers of drunk driving...because he lost his parents at a very young age....he constantly speaks out against DUI..and feels the penalty should be BANNING THEM FROM THE NFL...since the NFL offers a free pickup service to any NFL player who calls them and needs a ride..
