I'm with you on this one Mac, this is clearly a pet project that Tomlin has wanted for some time but KC and Art had to approve of it. Thumbs down for all 3.

It's not even a good football move let alone all the other crap.

The moral side of this debate aside, I still can't think of why this is a good signing, given Vick's declining skill set. Wouldn't it have made more sense to bring in an Arena League or CFL guy? Hell, why not have an open tryout for QB3 and roll with LOLandry? I think I'd almost rather have Jamarcus Russel than Vick.

And then re-retire, and then comback, and then re-re-retire, and then comeback, and then re-re-re-retire, and then comeback just in time for the playoffs.

Still a much much better option ... and better QB.

Stay out of it.........stay out of it..............
Nope! As you can tell by my avatar, I'm a dog lover. I volunteered for a local Lab rescue group for a couple of years. I bought the chocolate to the left as a puppy. One of the reasons we did was because someone had offered the backyard breeder to buy the whole litter. Now, who buys 7 mixed breed puppies? Dog fighters who need bait dogs! I have been to Sea World many times (boring) and have a nephew who works there. Their animals are not tortured. "Black Fish" was just propoganda.
A human's life is more important than an animals? Is Scott Peterson's life more important? (He killed his wife and unborn child and dumped them in SF bay, Remember?), or David Westerfield's (He molested, killed and dumped Danielle Van Damme of the side of a backcountry road)? I'll take the "animal", thank you!
That said, I'm extremely disappointed in the Steelers for this signing and HOPE that he never gets any playing time. I'll never forgive Vick for what he did.

The thing that bothers me right now is those members who have no issue with the signing but yet seem to think those of us that do object are so mercenary that once the wins start happening all is good. I'm more than a little offended by that. To me winning means nothing if you have lost yourself in achieving that goal. That is why I feel so strongly about deflategate. Because winning at all cost and cheating are just wrong. I will never be happy that a win happened at the expense of principle.

Here is the thing though Steelhurtin, studies have shown the links between sadism and serial killers. So while you maybe right that animal life is slightly less valuable than human life it is not a huge leap to say that serial killers start out torturing and killing small animals and as their thirst for it grows so does their lack of respect for all life not just animal but human as well. If you as a person are wiling to hold a dog's head under water and feel that life slowly pass, how soon before you think what must a human be like.

Setting aside the off the field controversy, I'm having a tough time seeing how anyone can say that it wasn't a good football move. Even with his declining skill set he's far more ready to actually win NFL games than Jones (or even Grad for that matter). With our deep threats, he would be viable as an interim starting QB. He still has a very good arm, and always threw a good deep ball. While I hope (and think) that a more viable backup will appear on a waiver wire before the regular season, I think he was easily the best option available from a football perspective. Go out and look at who is actually available (and not officially retired), and tell me who is a better option. I think Campbell is the only guy that's even in the discussion, and I think Vick is substantially better. That said, when factoring in the off the field stuff, I probably would have grabbed Campbell instead, but Vick is the better QB on the field at this point.

Mistakes? You mean he didn't intend to set dogs to maul each other? Like he set his dog down in the pit without realizing what was going to happen ... over and over again? He mistakenly tortured and starved dogs to get them to tear each other apart by mistake, and then when they didn't perform to his liking, he killed them by mistake?

He set up and ran an entire dog fighting operation by mistake?

His "mistake" is that he got caught. That what he's sorry about. And his PR campaign isn't about trying to make anything right, it's about making himself employable in the NFL again.

Anybody want to wager that when Vick enters the preseason game in Buffalo that the PA announcer plays "Who let the Dogs out"?

Did you see Vick last year? I'm not sure he's easily the best option. Bring back Tajh Boyd. He was going to take Ben's job anyway.

I will be there and I REALLY hope that doesn't happen. I still don't know how I will react when he enters the game.

Well, my statement is not implying that Vick is good. It's that the scrap heap is incredibly thin. I'd also point out that Vick had a pretty mediocre receiving crew to throw to. He can get the ball down field, and we have serious down field weapons.

I think a more viable option will be cut before the season, but if Tomlin loves Vick we will probably pass on a guy that we shouldn't pass on.

I would expect a good portion of fans will boo if and when he takes the field. It will be a strange feeling for sure.

It would be highly unusual to sign a player in the middle of the week and put him in a game 3 days later, especially at QB....

Yeah I feel the opposite of what some are saying. If you think this is a good idea then you're probably just a band wagon fan. A true fan looks past the color of laundry and more towards what the team symbolizes. To me, this move goes against of what I'd like to think of my beloved team. I'm not saying I'm no longer a fan, I'm just saying that I may not look at this team the same way. A bunch of mixed feelings for sure.

    That's really weird.

Over here in the UK, somebody phoned the emergency services (999) because they thought it was the government. They wanted to let the Prime Minister know that he was doing a good job, even if everyone was being unfair to him.

It was released as an example of people wasting emergency services time, but I thought it was quite endearing. They sounded quite old and confused.

If you think that Vick has changed his stripes, then I have a bridge to sell you. Every move he has made since he was caught was done on purpose to rehab his identity. It comes down to money and he lost a lot when he was caught. There are mistakes and then there is a way of life. His was clearly a way of life and I don't believe for a second that he's remorseful for what he did, only remorseful for losing out on all his money.
