It will blow over after a while. If the team is winning people will be there. If they don't win you will see a lot of no shows.

I seriously think we have less back lash from the fan base, had we signed ray rice as a back up RB.

I know there are plenty out there who throw out "People get all bent out of shape because he killed dogs, yet players who have killed people in drunk driving or have hit women get to play and they don't get mad." They lose sight of how heinous what was done to those dogs, not just the fighting which is grotesque, but the electrocution, starving, and just outrageously cruel treatment - like something out of a satanic cult. We would be disgusted and shocked if he did the same to kids, women, or other people - but then again he would have been put in jail for life or even had faced the death penalty....i.e. its not that he and his cohorts killed dogs but the methods he used on a living completely innocent animal.

I guess Vick has shown efforts to atone for his sins, but I don't like the signing and it smacks at another reason that I just have never really dug Tomlin as a coach...because this has Tomlin's hands all over it. There had to be plenty of other options to consider besides Vick.

Not sure I would characterize HugeSnack as not being a fan. You should know better than that.

Sorry but no matter the situation or what was done a human life is more valuable than a animals.

If someone was causing my dog harm, I would kill them. I don't like violence but when you see a hopeless animal crying and scared, you change. That being what can we do lol.

I'm not saying a QB run option is what the Steelers run. Just pointing out the fact that many are saying he's lost a step as a reason he "sucks".

Apparently, the Steelers believe he's the best option and fit and his skills and abilities are definitely better than Jones at this point.

No-one is saying that the team makes a switch to an option offense if Ben goes down.

Hahahahha I'm not taking the high road here. He messed up whatever... only in sports can you get a second chance to make big bucks. I was never a fan of him regardless of the commercials or hype. He was a flash in the pan that never panned out and none of whatever is left in his demenished bag of tricks are an asset here. I don't wish him I'll will I just wished we could've done better.

Honestly the only time Vick ever registered on my radar was the tie game against us with tommy gun and last years poor excuse for a loss. He was never a good QB in my opinion.

I do get that and I am not trying to equate a dog's life with a human life, but the difference is this. If a guy is drunk and kills an innocent person it is terrible and inexcusable - but in all likelihood it is not done with intent. Even the Ray Rice situation which was disgusting and inexcusable in itself happened more because he lost his temper, not because he planned on cold cocking his fiancee.

But what Vick did was not just wrong, but it was cruel - that is the part that is different and why I think so many people have such a visceral reaction to Vick.

A lot of companies don't hire convicted felons, especially someone with such a public and polarizing history and background.

Wait I just thought of a better jersey number for Vick. Square root of -1 because this doesn't feel quite real. Can someone do a mock-up?

A good friend I work with is a patsies fan - Yeah it is a source of conflict and debate as he hates the steelers as much as I hate the patsies. Anyway, he and his wife love their dogs like kids they never had and he could never ever forgive Vick no matter what. I guess I'm more on the forgiving side when it comes to Vick and we have debated this topic for the past couple years. I never dreamed that the Steelers would sign Mike Vick and now I'm going to have to listen to untold amounts of crap from him. I can't defend it either.

He did beat the Steelers last year as well. So saying he doesn't have the skills to win in the NFL is not true.

Look, I was upset with what Vick did....but that was years ago, and he did his time. Since then, Vick has been on the straight & narrow. He was even the voice of reason in that Cooper ordeal in Philly. I mean you and others seem so upset with this signing, cause you all think the steelers are above such things as bringing in someone like Vick. But on the other hand, you have no problems with allowing Bell a second chance....or what about Harrison ? You think what Vick did was so egregious...but, beating the living S H I T out of the Mother of your child right in front of him is Okay huh ? Please, stop acting like a Hypocrite. I love dogs and animals as much as anyone. And Vick deserved the prison time he got. But, in this country...he also is allowed the opportunity to prove he is a changed man. And he has. If Bell, and Harrison can be steelers...then so to can Michael Vick.

He didn't beat the Steelers. The Jets defense did. The Steeler's offense should be able to score more than 20 points, let alone 13.

Ryan Leaf won his first two NFL regular season games. Didn't stop people from questioning his skills to win in the NFL.

For all the talk by some about Vick being a good, veteran player, his play last year doesn't inspire confidence.
"Of bigger concern for the Steelers is Vick's unwillingness to prepare last year when the Jets faced off against the Chargers. (Geno Smith was yanked as starter and Vick looked lost when he went in.)" - CBSSports

This is a bad move for a myriad of reasons. He's an awful human being and no longer a very good football player. Tough day to be a Steelers fan.

Also, could we please stop using Ben, Bell, or Harrison (and any other Steeler who has gotten into trouble) as a finger wagging tool to shame people who don't like the signing. We're better than this. I know it.

Good luck steelers and when you hoist that trophy, know that we all despite this latest news , are with ya. tried and true.

And to our God of defense Troy. Where ever you are, know that the fans wanted you on that field for 2015 !!!! Newbies do him proud!

Acting like a hypocrite? You dont know what you are talking about. Bell smoked pot and JH smacked his fiancee, how the hell does that compare to what Vick did?

Lot of people "love" dogs but that doesn't stop them from dumping them in a shelter the second having one becomes an inconvenience. If I have a problem with people who do that, you can imagine the problem I have with what Vick did.

I don't care how many years ago it was, I don't care that he served a measly 2 years, I don't care that he lost every penny he had, I don't forgive him. You have a problem with my post, put me on ignore but keep your snarky comments to yourself.
