You chose to ignore part of what I said for the sake of your own point. I specifically said they weren't flawless. It's BS like this signing that make me think to the cheatriots. I could never be a NE fan because they've cheated their way to most of their titles. Winning isn't everything in my eyes.

People love the Steelers for different reasons, but the Steelers fans I know and grew up with loved them because they represented a hard working blue collar style that got things done the right way.

Someone that wishes harm towards someone isn't good.

All we can do is hope the Steelers spent a million for someone to just ride the pine for the season. Signing Vick tells me it is a no confidence vote in Landry.

Oh, quit calling it "mistakes." I'm so ****ing tired of hearing that from Vick apologists. It's about the dumbest thing one can say in defense of that piece of ****. Harrison made a mistake. In a moment of rage while arguing with his girlfriend over the custody of his children, he lost his cool and slapped her.. He instantly knew it was wrong, turned himself in, and owned up to it. That's a mistake. Vick was caught red handed.. Had he not been caught, he would have been doing the same **** to this day. It was his sadistic way of life, not merely a "mistake." What choice did he really have, other than to "find himself" or whatever BS reform talk we've all heard about? His career and millions of dollars were in the balance. He was backed into a corner because he was caught doing something bad. Something he'd still be doing to this day. **** him.

That is team talk for I have my own opinion but I choose not to share it because I want to be a leader for the team.

He is a veteran QB that has never been consistent in anything other than pulling the ball down and running instead of going through his progressions and sticking with the play. He doesn't have elite speed anymore and unless they changed the rules throwing a ball 60 yards from your knees is still an incomplete pass cause your knees are down. What Vick bring to the table football wise is nothing that couldn't have been had by looking at other QB's that has fewer character issues and were younger

What's is Ben going to say, I mean really is he going to say I can't stand the signing and I don't want the guy here? I am sure there are guys on the team that will welcome him with open arms and there will be guys that don't want ot be in the same room with him but you won't hear that because that is how locker room issues start

Sadism is NOT a mistake. He did what he did over and over again ... and he did it for fun.

If you wanted threads to go longer than the L Jones threads.....you've hit the jackpot!

Obviously they have zero confidence that Jones can be the primary back-up this year.

Actually, if he hasn't been touched, he's not technically down and the play is still live unless he's giving himself up......

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. No need to waste time on which is the greater sin, as they are all sins. Vick paid his debt to society and is not the first Steeler to have been convicted of a crime. I believe in forgiveness. Not for Vick's sake, but for my own. It does me no good to harbor all this hate and vitriol to someone who does not wear a Ravens, Patriots, or Cowboy's uniform.

Now, if we could talk about this in terms of a football move, it makes perfect sense. Grad is hurt and we need a guy at #2 who can come in and lead the offense. Veteran QBs who can win games stay around for a reason. I can only imagine the vitriol for KC that there would be if Ben went down and LOLandry had to start a game.

I can totally understand where you're coming from. I'm not even sure how to feel about this. I won't stop rooting for the Steelers because of this, but understand that some probably will.

I simply could not disagree with you more, I didn't become a steelers fan and love the team because they win or won championships. I love the team because of what they represent. That blue collar hard hitting, power football the that grew out of the teams of the 70's. You are absolutely correct they have had players that had character issues and the Rooney's stood by some of them because it was the right thing to do, while others they cut ties with because that to was the right thing to do, even if it put them in a difficult position. In 96 wen they cut Bam Morris after his arrest in Texas for drugs, I said that was a good move. When they gave Mike Adams a second chance I said ok lets see how he handles it. This I can't even begin to understand because it is something so far beyond me that I struggle to articulate how I am feeling. I said in the other thread that this just seems to negate all those times they passed on talented but trouble guys in the draft and in FA because it seems like a win at all cost type of thing. Its like something the Pats would do and just leaves me feeling sad.

I keep trying to wrap my head around this move and keep coming up empty to how this benefits the Steelers. There are so many better choices out there yet to be found with cuts coming up in the next few weeks. I'm really speaking from a football perspective here and not even a moral standpoint. If he were to join the team straight out of jail I would understand it better. Still wouldn't agree with it but at least he would offer the physical ability to perform. I'm not a big fan of has beens.

It was a mistake. A mistake that was defined by his culture. What's acceptable in one culture may not be acceptable in another culture. There are those still living today who believe it's "ok" to lynch a black man. That's another story though.

Vick paid the price. He lost almost everything. He seems to have evolved and become a better person because of what he's experienced. He appeared to learn from his mistake.

Make no mistake, dog fighting is still taking part in areas of this country because it is culturally acceptable. What's ironic is the Vick exposure to this probably did more to curb dog fighting then anything the law enforcement or animal rights groups did in the past 50 or so years.

I just hope many of the people on this board don't have an individual in their family commit a crime and seek forgiveness. People can remember what someone's done but to not move on and forgive is........

You make a solid point and while I can forgive anyone their past, it doesn't mean I want them to be associated with my Favorite team. I'm a steelers fan not a saint lol

NO ONE will. Guaranteed. Everyone is popping off right now, but in the end nobody's going anywhere. My Facebook newsfeed is full of people claiming to be bailing. Im considering taking names and calling them out in 3 weeks.

Hardly anyone will. Oh, they'll posture and rant for a week or two. But come September 10th, they'll be waving their Terrible Towels like everyone else. Because in the grand scheme of things, the signing of a BACKUP QB - regardless of how repugnant - isn't enough to throw away one's fandom or enjoyment of the game.

We'll boo and hiss whenever we see him. We'll pray he never takes the field. But that's about as far as it'll go.

And if anyone truly will walk away from the team, feel free to send your tickets my way. ;)
