That was the obvious answer . I think big Doug will be the starter he plays the Center position very well .He played above the line last time then they just kicked him out when Pouncey returned . If he plays above the line again then the Team should kick Pouncey to Guard....

I seriously doubt that he starts, but he's a great backup to have around.

I always liked Legursky.....but he hurt his knee in October last year and was placed on IR for the chargers... He injured a knee in 2013 also in preseason for the Bills....hope he is healthy enough to be serviceable...

Me too but I'm not unhappy about it. He was who I thought about when Pouncey went down.

If he is healthy he can beat out Wallace . Wallace would be the better bu as he can play the Guard spots better than Doug .

Craig Wolfley will be happy he can say his "The big Legursky" again, on his sideline radio broadcast.

I am a little apprehensive since Legursky missed 4 games in Buffalo in 2013 (left knee injury) and 14 games last season in San Diego (torn ACL).

Maybe he is only meant to play healthy football for the Steelers... :) We can hope!

I disagree that Legs should play ahead of Wallace on the depth chart. He should be more of an emergency option if Wallace goes down or if a starting G goes down, Wallace could slide over and legs play C. We'll see what happens but Wallace should get the nod at C. Your delusions about Pouncey being moved to G are still as ridiculous as they were in years past. Why would you move an all pro C to G when you have guys at the G spots that are getting it done? just doesn't make sense.

Makes plenty of sense to me . In a Zone blocking scheme the Guards have more value period . Pouncey is best when on the move and against 3-4 Defenses the guys who get to move are the Guards not the Center . Also the Guards get to help the tackles on inside moves. I simply value Guards higher than Centers I don't care if they make a meaningless pro bowl or not.

The key to a great running game is balance the best way to have balance is to have great pullers at Guard this is what Pouncey does best . He blocks in space a lot better , plus this will get his head up and allow him to see which will keep him out of the trash and could very well extend his career .If he can help the Team more at that spot and have less chance of getting hurt why would you not do it ?

Centers get hit from both sides by multiple players there knees and legs take a beating . Pouncey is now beat up and the Team should do what is right , so he can try and stay on the field. There is your answer and it is a very solid one .......

I can get behind this PWP. If it keeps him more healthy then I'm all for it. He should be just as good of a G as he is a C... as long as we have a solid C to replace him in his move to G, I think it would be a fine plan.

When I saw Legursky was free, I almost presumed this was what they'd do.

I'd still have preferred De La Puente, but still.

I may be in the minority, but I still think Legursky is junk. I will never forget his missed block in the super bowl which led to Mendenhall fumbling.

I don't think he was the best alternative. There's a certain thing about familiarity with the team, though. We tend to bring guys back that we know, and it's not always for the best.

It certainly seems that way. Several people mentioned Legursky after Pounce went down, and I thought 'they're not going to bring Legursky back, there are better options...' D'oh.

Legs is a known commodity. He is very smart, knowing what line calls to make and rarely made mistakes. He's mobile enough to play ZBS. His problem is he isn't stoudt enough to handle BIG NT in 3-4 schemes. Cody is Legs but with a little more sturdiness to his blocking NT, but can and will be pushed back by them.

Make no mistake!!! Neither are as mobile or strong at POA as Pouncey, losing Pouncey is a big deal, but with adequate B/U's and scheme/playcalling adjustments we should be fine and still contend for a SB.
