i think we need to make some moves for the o and d lines while we still have a couple of weeks to do so.

    adams hasn't practiced at all.
pouncey even if it's 8-10 weeks won't be the same by week 11 or probably 12 or beyond this year.
tuitt just made an already slim d-line even thinner, and now we are looking at cam thomas having to start for us.
    timmons with turf toe.

kev, please make some moves for some more veteran players. yes i like finney and av, but we need some vet depth at this point.

fort may help in timmons absence. i'd like to see someone with a little expierience brought in as a tackle and a center and a de like that. why wait until they count? are there any vets sitting out there unsigned? the first round of cuts may not produce much either. isn't munch's johnson out there? keisel? velasco? are these guys even options now?

Cam Thomas doesn't seem to have got any better.

Flagged for offsides on a play where he was still several steps behind everyone else, and negating Dupree's sack? Ugh.

The FO can't be happy with their depth at o-line at the moment, given how porous they were in the second half. The blitz pick up did improve a bit in the 4th, but I didn't see who was in then. The run game was destroyed, though.

I doubt Keisel would be able to play. Velasco is with the Titans. Don't know about Johnson. We could do with a Tackles and a Centre quick sharpish.

Wesley Johnson is with the Jets
Legursky is prob available and may be cheap, as the cap room will have to be taken into consideration for signing any vets.

Mauro is doing good for the cards but not sure where Nick Williams is at

I'm sure Colbert will bring some in for a look see. They have a few weeks and cuts are coming.

Cam Thomas should be a cut, but won't be due to injuries. Why they even signed this lump still baffles me.

Keisel. If his tricep injury is healed might be an option. Cam Thomas or The Diesel? Common.

Tuitt's injury is not severe which is great news. Out a couple of weeks.

DL? Well, just plug in Walton and Kruger/Hemmer and let them get their feet wet. Almost everyone is predicting our defense to be the weak link anyway, so now is the best time to get our young guys some valuable in-game experience and growth. I probably wouldn't even bother with bringing anyone in for the DL.

OL? Well, our offense is supposed to be top-3 in the NFL, and Big Ben is our most valuable asset, so we better make sure that our OL is solid as possible. If that means making a move for another guy that can play center then so be it. Wallace will start, but he needs a backup in place now rather than waiting until Wallace gets injured, too. Haven't seen any action of AV, so not sure if he is capable yet of manning a tackle spot, and we all know that Gilbert will miss some time this year. Might be worth letting go of one of our 45 WR's and brining in another OL.

Damn I can't believe what I am about to write. Cam Thomas did make a couple of mental errors ,but when he played in the 4-3 looks he looked good . He is like night and Day from a 3-4 to a 4-3 .If Cam plays in a 3-4 he is not even practice squad material, if in a 4-3 he is Starter material . He is a 1 gap NT only type guy , doesn't look the part at all at DE .

Not sure about being starter material, but he is looking like a legit NFL player when he 1-gaps.

This close to the season, who are you hoping to find? Good luck picking out of the garbage dump.

We have players in place, time to knuckle up!

weren't you on record as saying that we need to stop signing these old washed up veterans because it's costing us young talent?

This is definitely out of character for mac, whose MO is usually anticipating HOF play from every one of our UDFAs (that's an exaggeration), but I love it and applaud him for it! I agree, the two starters we just lost are at positions of little to no depth, and we need to keep our head up and our eyes peeled for a half-decent available veteran at C and DE. Our young OL is particularly disappointing, and I'd have no issue at all cutting any one of them outside of AV.

am i on record saying that glenn? this is quite a different scenario than keeping some young talent behind 2 or 3 starter quality players. man you just can't get that i didn't want will allen kept over say a guy like ian wild or darby which by the way last i checked they were playing pretty well. will allen has never been next in line starting material here. he also has about one year left in him, so why wouldn't we want some younger talent to take over in line? get over it glenn. jeez man.

av has looked good or at least as good as your boy mr.4 weeks adams. (< see how that feels) i can twist what you say and mean around too. behind him we have nobody worthy except maybe vandyke. i don't want him protecting ben this year.

wild and darby have been playing well but we have will allen so we may lose one or both.

at least 3 young undrafted wr's have looked pretty good so far if i'm not mistaken.

hemmer has looked alright and probably could play in a supporting role giving starters a breather. i just don't want cam thomas as one of the starters if tuitts ankle lingers on past the preseason.

we really have nobody past wallace that is capable of being a go to guy if he goes down. signing someone with some nfl expirience doesn't mean bringing in an old washed up player. only in your mind to make you look like you have confirmed your point somehow.

I think Big Doug is the answer. As another poster referenced he is not great for a zone blocking scheme , but he is a good power blocker and a good pass blocker. I am still of the mind set that we should have kept him and moved Pouncey to Guard . I love the trap game with pulling Guards and DD and Pouncey would have been the best set in the NFL. Plus Doug is stronger and holds up better against Big NT'S....Oh well maybe they will sign Doug and make this move a few years late. Better late than never .

Velasco may be available. See if Tennessee tries to cut and slip him back after week one again.....

That would be the best solution. Worked with Munch, played well in this line already, starter quality, stronger and able to handle the bigger NT's lined up over him.

Legursky missed most of last season for the Chargers with a torn up knee. Dunno if that has healed or not.

Free agent C Chris Meyers was a salary cap casualty with the Texans but at 33 he has never missed a game and played well last season. He's definitely worth a look if the price is right, which it might be since he is currently not employed.

I think he was a Munch guy and he wanted to keep him, but they had a nice new draft pick and tried to get him through the first week to not have to guarantee his salary.

Fate just so happened to plop him down to the Steelers and he was key in teaching the line some outside zone technique.

Remember he's played for Much most of his career.

No idea Meyers was still available. He was a mainstay in the middle of their ZBS when their offense was strong. Worth a look.

He will be 34 next month. Perhaps that's why he hasn't been signed.

That is what I remember as well. I think is was Schwenke when he was a rookie. It seemed like they kept some other young guys too so Velasco was odd man out and they actually released him. I don't know if they were hoping nobody would sign him and they could get him back if one of the young guys flamed out because I don't think Velasco was eligible for PS any more. they list him as #2 C on depth chart now.

I saw earlier today on PFT that Meyers has retired. Legursky should be sound for us if he can stay healthy.

Ya know, there is an upside with having Wallace out on the field and maybe a revenue opportunity. Wallace can offer reduced cost prostate exams for the opposing DL. I hear early detection is key in treating it.

Wallace doesn't give the athleticism that Pouncey does, but he's a grinder and may be better against the big NT's that line up over him.
