Although I love the Boykins pick up as a response to Goldson's injury. We need all the help we can get in the secondary. A big, fast safety in need of a fresh start in a place where the setting is steeped in great secondary tradition, could not hurt.

Having played in Pete Carroll's Cover 1 flex, where he was versatile in a cover 1,2,3 or m2m, he should be able to acclimate to our transition to a Cover 2. I have wanted to see us go after this guy a few times, so i am somewhat bias and would like to hear other opinions. Granted I know he is not the next Lake, Woodson or Blount.

He has never really played good as a pro with that said we have 2 Safeties at least that will not be on our roster next year . If Colbert would swallow his 3 QB crap and cut Jones we could take a look at him with nothing really to loose .

IMO Mays is just as good as anyone we have at that spot . Damn that statement scares me as he has been 3rd. string mostly.

Mays couldnt cover your grandma, in 5 years he has 78 tackles 1 sack 0 picks 1 safety and only 7 pass deflections and everything else is zeros, the bengals ran him off because they got tired of him being out of position on every play, the only time he is big and fast is when he picks up his pay check....

    Hmm.

If it were Taylor Mays as a rookie, with all that potential, I would be really wanting us to take a look at him.

Having seen how he's panned out, I'm less enthusiastic.

I'd pass, he is a bum. I'd like for us to get a safety, but Mays isn't an upgrade over any of our top 3 IMO.

I'm definitely concerned about our safety play. I think it is the most questionable unit on the team.

Not interested, Mays looks like Tarzan and plays like Jane. If he was any good the Lions wouldn't have cut him, their secondary isn't that great.

Shamarko is more like a LB than he is a Safety , Mays seems to be the same way we need a different style of player back there so I say no.

We're truly not good at Safety. I'd have said the entire Secondary but thankfully Boykin was added. Injuries and the Safeties are all I'm worried about now.

I know scheme wise we like our DB'S to be great at run support and good at making open field tackles. The problem is if we can't stop a pass then who is even going to try to run ? If our DB's are in another zip code when the pass is caught who cares if they are good at making open field tackles. It's time to swallow the pride and try the non tackling Safeties with the 1st. units.....

    It can't be any worse.....

No thanks always thought that guy would have made a better hybrid LB than a S in the NFL...

Not a big fan of Mays at all. I'd spend the dough on some off line help.

I'd rather sign " TAYLOR SWIFT " for our secondary then " TAYLOR MAYS "

He asked for his release a few days ago and they obliged. It's the second team he's been released from this preseason.
