I want to see what Jesse James is doing. Also, Cam Thomas with Clifton Geathers. If Geathers beats him out I'm sure there will be some hootin' and hollerin'!

Yeah, HoJo for sure. I saw a picture of him from minicamp and he looks stout. Like he's growing into his length. I'm looking forward to seeing how he progressed from year 1.

Also, pretty much the entire DL, other than Heyward since I already know what he brings. Tuitt's progress is intruiging to me, also what Walton can bring. I'm all for Cam Thomas being gone, based on his play, but I saw a video on the Steelers page about Heyward, Tuitt, Thomas and Hemer going to some theme park together. I bring that up because if he fits in better with the locker room vibe, better than Geathers or someone else, that may be enough to keep him around again. I hope not, becasue he flat out stunk last year, but meshing with teammates seems to be important to Tomlin sometimes.

Also, I'm looking forward to Antwon Blake becoming our #1 CB. I have no doubt that he grabs that role.

Basically I'm looking forward to seeing all the young guys on defense, like usual!

Bud Dupree of course! I usually try to focus on all the draft picks primarily to see how they are performing against those wily vets.

Others I would definitely zone in on would be Jarvis and Shazier to see how they look. Shamarko would be another good one to keep an eye on. Cortez Allen too. So much of our defense is going to hinge on those guys figuring it out and/or staying healthy.

With a guy like Cortez Allen, unless he has massively deteriorated in some way, I think he'll look much the same in camp. It's when it gets to an actual game that we'll see if he's back to form or better. Which, as others say, we really need him to be.

I think I'm most interested in Holliman, of all the rookies.

I want to see every one of these guys work hard but key guys Im focusing on are

The entire DL-------- Because how they play will determine our new scheme

Cortez Allen---------- His play is crucial for our resurgent Defense

Shamarko------------ His play is crucial for our resurgent Defense

DL is the one place I feel real confident about on defense. I think it's safe to say that the DL will be the strongest part of our defense for the next 5 years at least. Heyward is already a budding superstar and from the looks of Tuitt, he is going to be a heck of a player as well. Nose Tackle is the only somewhat questionable position, but that will depend on McCullers. He may develop into something special or he may not. Even if he doesn't I think McClendon is a very serviceable starter.

The reason Shazier was put in parenthesis is because he is the chosen one for me, He is the next one in line that can be a superstar. Will the Steeler coaches be fair and let the best CB play regardless of experience/money? Will Shamarko Thomas be able to stay on the field? Will JJ be bigger, stronger?Ho Jo Can't wait to see if he has
improved his self from yr 1 to 2. I will be watching him extra close.

Same here. Not flashy, but he looked solid and just came off a National Champion team that had to play some really good passing offenses.

Hi guys. Well for me, this Camp, and season comes down to Jarvis Jones. This is my opinion that if he fails this season, he goes down as an All-time Steeler 1st round BUST!!

All the DB'S . We need our CB'S and Safeties to step up in a big way . We need to change our bend but don't break mentality . We need to attack the ball , we need to be striping the ball, we need to be working on tip drills .

Basically anything and everything to increase the chances of creating turn overs.

This... OLBs mostly JJ, mainly to see if he has improved and hold his own against NFL linemen
Moats, to see if he is what I think he is (a good outside linebacker)
Dupree to see what he's got in case Moats or JJ can't cut it.

CBs Cortez Allen to see he still is a head case and lacks confidence ie Limas Sweed

I would also want to see what Shamako has and if he can last a full season off the injured list, along with overall better safety play from all the safeties.

HoJo, Harris, Archer, Jesse James, Golson, Coates/Bryant/Wheaton, Zumwalt, Mitchell, and Shamarko. Glad Pittsburgh gets an extra preseason game so these guys can get more reps and opportunities.

It appears Jones is what he is ,maybe someone will beat him out. I have huge concerns about Cortez . I have never seen him play at a level that would make me believe he is a #1 or #2 CB , he showed some good play against 2nd. tier type WR'S and slower TE'S , but has always been beat by big and fast or precise and fast . The bottom line to me is I don't think he will ever be able to line up outside and the more we try the worse it is for everyone.

His problems are poor hips , lacks recovery speed , and confidence . Can't get confident when he knows the player he is guarding can beat him consistently and he lacks the skill to stop it. Best thing the Team can do is just move him inside ....

Not sure about the second pick but the first one was a tipped ball by Coates. Not like he pulled a NOD or anything. To put things in perspective Ben threw a TD and a pick. Jones threw a TD and two picks. First day of camp and it was a redzone drill let's put the pitch forks away

I was at training camp yesterday. It was the first day so it was pretty low key. Harrison was in a sweat suit and didn't practice at all (not to mention it was in the 90's yesterday!). Cortez had some pretty decent coverage that I saw...although he did get beat by Bryant. Not a ton to report. I was just kind of observing. Jarvis gave his gloves to my daughter so that was pretty cool.

I've read more than once about cortez being abused by AB and MB, and it doesn't worry me nearly as much as it does others..
Let's face it... No one in the league has figured out how to stop brown and Bryant, so all this can do is make cortez better.... we won't truly know anything until pre-season starts
