He is one of only 3 QB to beat the Steelers twice in the post season- Bledsoe (whom I'm giving credit to for the 2001 AFC championship game, not Brady who was hurt early) and Elway are the others.

I felt really sad about him dying also. He is definitely a part of our history. I can't stand the raiders but I appreciate what the rivalry has meant and he's a huge part of that. He was also a colorful character indeed. I actually have a buddy that collects classic sports memorabilia that met him in a restaurant once in Alabama and said he was extremely nice.

Yep, much respect to him, even if he played for a hated rival.

Always thought of him as one of the best of that time, and at least top 20, ALL time.

One of those guts, and gunslingers, like T.B., Farve, and Ben...

My condolences to his family, and even his fans.

I might quibble with Steeler JJ, tho, about respect between the "TEAMS"...

MAYBE among their fans, especially as we grew older, but as for the actual teams?

I dunno... Madden hated us for 20 years or more, after he was done coaching, and on the field, we tried to kill them, and they tried to kill us...

That`s what made it great to watch!!!

Regardless, I respect Stabler for what he did on the field, and it`s a shame he`s gone.:flag:
