    Yep.

I doubt the Pats would bring in a new QB. If the suspension is hefty, maybe they start looking at some more depth. But at the moment I expect them to stick with Garoppolo, who will likely morph into Matt Cassell mark II.

I suspect that somehow, someway Brady starts the season against the Steelers. IMO there is no way that the NFL lets the SB chumps start the new season on national TV without the SB MVP. No way.

Disagree with this theory, suspensions normally start from the top of the season and i don't see the NFL cherry picking the week or weeks due ones status. I predict 2-4 weeks in.

I could see some type of appeal filed at the right time so he is allowed to play while the appeal is pending...which will be during the opener. Just a hunch.

Superbowl MVP is somewhat of a hollow award. It looks good on a HOF resume but really has no bearing once the game is over and done. Remember the Steelers traded away one SB MVP for a handful of beans, and cut another one because of salary cap reasons, they also were ready to cut a DPOY if he didn't retire and cut another DPOY because of poor cap management. I mean the league had no problem with having its two time back to back MVP admitting he was addicted to pain medication and had a drinking problem. If anything the SBMVP makes what Brady did look even worse since it says hey I won this award but I also cheated to do it.

Even without Brady, I don't think NE can be looked at as an inferior opponent but I like our chances better against Garoppolo. Steelers almost never lose to rookies, yes, I know that DL is no longer coach but I would think Butler learned a few things watching.

I don't think the timing will allow that. A suspension will be handed down next week, the start of the season is 4 months away, don't think NE can wait until then to appeal.

I'd have to look this up. but I think there is a time frame for when the appeal must be made. I don't think the league will allow him to file an appeal 24 hours before the game so that he can play. Goodell would have to rule on the appeal before the suspension is to take place. I would guess that whatever Brady's suspension is, it will be reduced upon appeal, but Brady will still be out for that opener. My guess is he will get two games, reduced to one...maybe three reduced to two.

    BUT...

Here's the caveat. It's also possible that Brady could file suit, backed by the NFLPA, and that that process could drag on. I do not think he will do this, but given that Brady's arrogance rating is right up there with Roger Clemens, it's a distinct possibility. Here's why I don't think this approach will be taken: a trial opens Brady up, and all those text messages he tried to cover up will indeed become public. I think he's guilty and he knows it, and a trial will only make him look like the liar he is.

No, I think that given the circumstances, Brady will take his suspension like a spoonful of medicine and go on his way.

The Steelers will win the opener convincingly, and throughout the rest of the season, we will have to hear Pats fans chant "Playoff Rematch."

I know the Steelers and many fans would prefer to face the Pats at their best, but not me. The Steelers need the effin' W. Period. Bell's suspension puts them in the position of needing some breaks, and this is a huge one. I also think the 2015 Steelers will be a much better team in November and December than at the start of the season. I think the defense will get better, barring serious injuries. So damn straight, I will gladly take a September win over the Brady-less Pats, thank you very much, and would then love to see the Pats go back to Heinz in January for an AFCCG. Even WITH Brady at that point, I think the Steelers will be the better team.

LOL that is really reaching in order to call it cheating. Some of those in no way are conscious attempts to circumvent the rules in order to gain a advantage during the course of a game. I think I snorted while reading the James Harrison ones. Huge joke.

What a pathetic false equivalence. Obviously written by a Patriots apologist to boot.

Really have to love the "hey, it wasn't against the rules then, but it's still cheating by today's standards" line of reasoning.

Then there's this, why was Ben suspended for 6 games later cut to 4? When no other NFL player not charged with a crime was ever suspended? Considering Brady lied and refused to cooperate in an investigation it would seem he is a very serious offender, deserving more severe punishment than Ben ever did?
Roethlisberger is the first player suspended by Goodell under the conduct policy who hasn't been arrested or charged with a crime.

Yeah, that always bothered me. At the same time, I think the Rooneys had a hand in that and lobbied for a stiff penalty to give their QB the message. From that standpoint, I liked it, and Ben has gotten his act straight. So it worked.

On another note, going back to my post about Brady taking legal action, there is another path he can take. He can sue, be cleared to play as the suit awaits a hearing or trial, and then drop the suit and serve his suspension at a time in the season that he and the Pats think is more advantageous. Depending on the length of the suspension (let's assume three games) there is no lull in their season. The best three games to miss might be those first three. After Pittsburgh, the Pats have two winnable games, without Brady: Buffalo and Jacksonville.

I think you only have so long to appeal that is why Bell already has. I think its only like a week.

Yeah if that were the case instead of giving the old retired guys money Goodell would be fining them for illegal hits to the head and roughing the passer. Hey it's not legal today.

Yup by that line of reasoning, they should have a few more on the Patriots as well. Non-eligible lining up outside and all...

I read earlier today that Don Shula chimed in against Brady too. Said Shula has referred to BB as Bellicheat in the past! I love it!

Unfortunateley, this time, we don`t have "compelling video evidence", like we did with Ray Rice, to get him, to "rethink" his original punishment..

Personally, I really didn`t think this "deflategate" thing was that big of a deal...

Then, I learned it was an ongoing thing, not JUST the Playoff game against Indy...

Then, I saw NINE pages of this forum devoted to it, and never once, saw BFT, come to Brady`s defense!!!;):roflmao:...

That means it must really be some serious stuff!!!:hmmm::lolol:

Actually, it appears, there is more to this, than I first thought...

Just one playoff game, where they crushed the Colts by about 40 points...

Now it looks like "Herr Goodell`s" credibility could be called into question, if he doesn`t levy a significant penalty, against his buddy`s team...

    We will see what happens...

I`m betting he doesn`t care about his credibility, and comes up with some cheesy rationale, for no swinging the hammer on Kraft`s team...

    But hopefully, I am wrong...

    GO STEELERS!!!

LOL! Meh. I've been at my home away from home since last Friday and got home today and really hadn't even cared about this. I'm sorta desensitized to the Pats and drama. They are sorta like the cowgirls it seems and they can't just get through a season without melodrama. If it were any other team I might actually be interested in it but since it's them I'm just like " what else is new?" Ultimately, we should all be appreciating Brady since we play Seattle this year and he showed us that you can papercut them to death and maybe laid the proverbial blueprint to beat them. If he cheated and knew that he was cheating then he should be suspended. If they can't prove it I could see why they wouldn't want to suspend a guy of his status from a business standpoint. It would be like the NBA suspending Jordan or the NFL suspending the forehead or the MLB suspending McGwire or my guy Sosa during the home run race. They generate massive revenue. Do I think Brady is a good GUY? No. Do I think he's a great qb? Absolutely. The same goes for Pete Rose. I try and separate the personal from the business. Ironically, I have much more in common with the forehead than I do Brady but I enjoy watching Brady more. I can acknowledge both are great at what they do though. It's not the Jedi way to let emotions cloud your judgement. That's just the way I see it IYSWTRIC.
