Patience is the key. I strongly doubt that Dupree will come in and light it up. He has learning to do, and some techniques that need correcting. However, I firmly believe that he will be excellent down the road. I see his trajectory being like Robert Quinn's. Quinn didn't start as a rookie and had 5 sacks. In his 2nd year he started and hit double digits. In his 3rd season he blew up with 19.

It's going to take some time. I'm sure folks will be out here after 3 games tossing around the B word, but so be it. JH will be a key guy in 2015 to bridge the 1 season that it will take for Dupree to be the man.

What a surprise his college coach giving him praise.

 I would take that. My hopeful (but realistic) expectations are more like 4 sacks in limited playing time as a rookie, then 8 sacks, then 12 sacks. And I could also see it being even slower, with him topping at around 10.

Pass rush is the one area I have some concern with Bud. All potential, little production. A lot of people seem to think that means he'll either blow up like Quinn or Justin Houston, or completely bust. I'm thinking it could be right in the middle.

Still, with his run defense and experience in coverage he's a well-rounded player, and that's something of importance that everyone is overlooking.

Most Steeler LB's don't develop like that, most of them get plugged in their rookie year and go on to excel.

I can't remember any Steeler LB's that developed into great players, most were good from their first pre-season.
I can still remember saying "who the hell was that?" the first time Porter, Gildon, Lloyd, Kirkland, Merriweather, Nickerson, Lambert, Cole, Dirt, and many more first stepped onto the field.

We gonna find out about Jarvis Jones and Dupree real early. Jones wrecked his wrist, so I'm willing to give him a fresh start, but if he don't make you take note quick, he wont be making you take note later.

The parts that standout are that his coach isn't saying that he is great at everything but rather that he did everything asked of him and did it well even without proper coaching. Let's face it Dupree could have said coach I don't want to switch or he could have tried transferring but he did what was asked of him. His coach admits that switching schemes probably hurt his numbers but he still found ways to shine. That to me says alot.

His tape absolutely screams of limited coaching. His outside pass rush is just scratching the surface of what it will be when someone teaches him how to bend and shorten the arc. Right now he makes it so easy on the tackle because he sets himself up to be pushed past the pocket due to poor technique. You can see that ability flash on tape, but it's only there occasionally. Also, when I had noted in pre draft evaluation that I saw a lot of hesitation, the coach's explanation of Dupree calling blitzes based on formation puts that into perspective. The kid was playing an edge rush position and having to take responsibility for calling other players' assignments. Here he will be able to focus on taking care of his business, and that will translate to faster play with less hesitation. I feel really confident that we've found our next Batman.

I totally agree and the article even points out that he didn't have a position coach.

Not worried about his pass rush at all, give this kid some coaching, skys the limit.
