You read those texts and don't think they were being pressured / bribed / cajoled by Brady???

    Really?

Yeah that is why I didn't buy BB's explanation when the news originally broke. He claimed he made the footballs they practiced with as crappy as possible and if his players complained he made them worse but then he claims he gave no thought to actual footballs used in games. That just stretches believability a bit much.

:lolol: Seriously? Alright then, throw him in the pile. Guilty.

In all seriousness, if this was a court of law, I believe there's plenty to convict. Ever watch Dateline? Juries convict husbands of killing their wives because the cop goes on the stand and tells them to, even with no evidence at all.

But this is a situation where there's no law and no jury. It's just one guy that has to be convinced. And if he's not convinced... scratch that, of course he's convinced, because he has a functioning brain. The problem is if he chooses to do anything about it or look the other way like he did the first time because 1) it's his pals doing this crap, and 2) he thinks it looks better to sweep things under the rug than expose and end them.

It doesn't matter what I think. It is what they can prove and the assumption that Brady "Probably knew" about the deflated balls is very susceptible to open interpretations. It's virtually an attorneys dream.

Look, I believe he is as guilty as the day is long. Thought that with OJ also. It doesn't matter what the perception public opinion is when it comes down to facts. I don't think they have any facts in the report.

If it said that Brady knew without doubt about the deflated Footballs then there would be something to suspend him over.

This isnt a court of law, it doesn't need to be proven beyond a reasonable doubt for punishment to be meted out.

But this isn't a court of law.

Ryan Clark made a good point. If players get suspended for PEDs (which is considered cheating) then we should see a suspension here.

My guess: 2 games, dropped to 1 after appeal.

So what are they going to base the punishment off of? Where is any proof that he did anything wrong? Text messages?

I could text my wife and say I think my neighbor is a thief. Still doesn't make him a thief now does it?

Look, I'm not defending Brady whatsoever. I just think the wording in the report is completely scripted to where he can deny everything until he's blue in the face.

I still hold my beliefs that he won't see a suspension no matter what the general public perceives. If he happens to receive a one game suspension it won't be the opening game after a Championship performance.

But Brady said he didn't know McNally and didn't know his position with the team. Those texts suggest otherwise. And they were sent months prior.

Ben got four games over nothing but a he said/she said. There was no evidence of anything. No arrest. Dropped charges.

The NFL doesn't need a strong burden of proof. The only burden of proof is "probability" which is why te report was worded the way it was. It basically said Brady was guilty.

Where was the proof for Bens suspension?

Sean Payton was suspended an entire year with no wrong doing, just because ignorance isn't an excuse, in the words of the commish.

Ben was under accusations of rape and while still under those accusations he was then reported to the police for sexual assault. He was acquitted of both but Ole Rog wanted to show his might to which he did by a 6 game suspension which was later reduced to 4 games.

Hardly the same as a few low inflated footballs.

Trust me. I wish that they would suspend Brady, Belicheat, Kraft and everyone else in that corrupt organization but the buddy buddy relationship between the team and the league has me believing otherwise. The joke of report makes me believe it even more. There is nothing to go on. The text do not prove any knowledge that Brady had anything to do with it. I know he did, you know he did but what actually proved that he did.

When I heard on the radio on my way home from work that Brady "Possibly knew", I just laughed cause I know they are now pulling the rabbit out of the hat right before our very eyes again.

I guarantee that if the Pats would have lost the SB this would have all been resolved by now and Brady would be thrown under the bus with a lengthy suspension but since they won, it is being swept under the rug completely in order for the NFL to save face.

    This part we agree on.

Not sure he won't get some token slap on the wrist. But it won't be anything significant.

See that's where everyone is wrong. He was never charged with anything, so he could never have been acquitted or have charges dropped. I love how people can be "under allegations" now days.

The guy Brady said he didn't know and didn't know what his job was, somehow getting told the balls weren't to his liking and to fix it. Also, was able to get gifts from Mr. Brady to give to another random guy that supposedly wasn't doing anything for him other than carrying balls. Yeah, that's plausible.

*EDIT* back on topic. There's going to be a real telling on how this is handled with the SB MVP on opening day!

The words are critical "more probable than not" - specifically because that's the basis by which the NFL establishes that a rules violation has occurred per the NFL rule book. It's the NFL's equivalent of "beyond a reasonable doubt."

I took a low level flight over the Patriots Message Board. A lot of people there hate Goodell and think he is out to get them. Hmmm, where have I heard that before? Hmmm.

If the gray cells still work, I believe Bens suspension came not from anything he was proven guilty of but rather for bringing bad press per se to the NFL. Or something like that. Is this situation with Brady any less?

Suspend him for 4 games. Make him go to his room and go to bed. With Gisele. That should straighten him out.

Ben was never acquitted because he was never CHARGED. He was under suspicion of rape and it was dropped due to lack of evidence. You're right, its not the same as a few inflated footballs, it was far less.

And as I said, Payton was suspended just because the buck stops with him, even know it was decided he had no awareness of the situation.

We're just trying to point out to you, that you don't need the same level of proof as you do in a court of law. That seems to be what you are basing your thought process on.

With the amount of traction this is gaining on ESPN, I'd be surprised if he isn't suspended or fined. He should get suspended but given its the first game of the season, they may fail at doling out the proper punishment.

The word probably has been thrown around way to much. But the text messages seal the deal as well. John Jastremski and Jim McNally are singing. Guilty...

He should be suspended for a minimum of 4 games. And draft picks taken away. No fine.

Protect the Shield? :lolol: The best way to do that is to get rid of the Worst Commissioner ever in Professional Sports.

And the Patriots fans that are complaining about the Liar Goodell is laughable.

We will see what Goodell is made of. This is his opportunity to show that he's not going to show favoritism just because of his friendship with Kraft. If he doles out a harsh suspension, then I will gain a little bit of confidence in him.

And yeah. .. the complaining by Pats fans is laughable.

I heard that this morning. The league has to do something just wonder if they will do it to the golden boy or the team. I'm sure they will find away not to suspend Tom

Is that true about smoking in the offseason being legal? I did not know that. I thought it was illegal by the league all year round.
