I don't like grading draft picks to much cause nobody knows for sure how they will turn out. its a popularity contest with these grades anyway. I also laugh every year when some kid that might be drafted lights it up at the combine and BAM he is a first rounder.( Byron jones) I don't get into the measurables to much either. I mean for every 5'8 kid that doesn't make it there is a 6'1 who doesn't.

I look at tape. it don't lie. I get to watch the sec play every week and try to attend as many games as I can. I have watched Dupree and seen him in person. when you watch Kentucky play, you notice him. he is far and away the best player on the defense if not the team. he is still learning the position and I still cant believe we landed him.

golson is a football player. plain and simple. I know he isn't tall or he wasn't projected to go in the second by some but I haven't seen many better at high pointing the ball. when he gets his hands on it, he catches it. he gambled a lot but from what I understand he had free rain to do so. he seems to have a sense of where the ball is going. I think he will end up being one of the top corners coming out of this draft

now coates. when bama aint playing I like to watch auburn in hopes they lose. this kid can be having the worst game of anyone on the field but when they needed it he performed. I have seen him block and put people on there backs. I have seen him run by some of the fastest dbs around and make a play. I have seen him go over the middle, catch the ball, and then he delivers the hit. the only thing that kept him from being a first round is his drops. I know that is a big deal but he had a qb that couldn't put the ball on him. I think he will end up being the 3rd wr by the end of year.

I don't know a lot about the rest but I think from what I read is that they are high motor, high football IQ guys. you cant have enough of them. we got younger and faster on defense. not to mention deeper. I love the draft but I know some don't. I think some wouldn't if we had 8 first rounders drafted. they would be the wrong 8. that's just the nature of a fan.

I just wonder if I am in the minority when I want football players. I don't care much about times, size, or school. I think we put a huge value on character this year and wanted to make sure we got players. I think we did

If the guys grading the draft knew more they'd be making not the picks not writing about them.

I get yer point about "measureables", vs. "football skills"..

    And I tend to agree...

I want "football players", whether they can shine at the combine, or not...

I had to laugh at a qoute I saw in my local paper..An "anonymous" source, from a generic Team`s scouting department, said "If Hannible Lecter could run a 4.0 40, we would say he had an "eating disorder"...

Personally, I dont want people with "character issues", on the team, because we, (The Pittsburgh Steelers), hold ourselves to a "higher standard"...

And on a side note, I doubt if Bell would be suspended for the first 3 games, if he hadn`t met Blount...

But, the reality is, these are kids with a lotta money, for the first time in their lives...

    They are "kids bein kids"...

Some of `em are gonna get in trouble with it... I sure would have...

We ain`t gonna know which of these kids pan out on the field, and rersist temptations, `till they get on the field and play...
(Ben was a "good kid", until early success went to his head, arguably...)_

I will judge them when they play some games on the field...

Looks like we got some good ones, tho... For now!

    GO STEELERS!

Absolutely agree with this! Bell is responsible for his own actions but there is no doubt that Blount-head had an unhealthy influence on him. That's why Blount was released after he walked out on the team. The theme of this years' draft was high character with no off field issues.

I agree with this. I really like the ballhawks we got. However, I was really hoping that they would take a shot with IFO in the 6th or 7th and the OT COllins as well. I mean why not? If he gets in legal trouble then we know a lot of 6th and 7th rounders don't make it anyway and if he doesn't get in legal trouble then we have a round 1 talent. IFO is coming off an injury, but he too had round 1 talent, why not take a shot?

I think the Collins thing is very serious. I don't think anyone wanted to touch that.

First, the Steelers are not on a Higher Standard then other teams. The Rooney's have been every bit the Hypocrites that many other owners have been. Sorry to say that but it is true. Look, I have nothing against a person who has messed up. I mean that is Human. And as much as I love hearing about Sammie Coates own Religious convictions, and the great deeds he does in his community...the bottom line will be what he does to become the productive player we need him to be. I praised Coates and his Character as it went to him being a great and committed worker on the field to be better. Not what deeds he does off it.

But make no mistake, the Steelers and the Rooney's are not above everyone else when it comes to morality and ethics. They have been as egregious with their Double Standards as any other team, and their owners.

Well Kiper says the rats won the draft. I really hope we slap the dog chit out of them both or all three games if needed.

I agree I would have loved to take a chance on Ifo but oh well we got 2 other guys this year. As for the Collins thing I could not disagree more with you. First Collins had said he wasn't gonna sign if not drafted by the second day. Another thing to consider we have become a very young team why would we want that kind of circus/distraction for these kids?

The Steelers have always been an under the radar kind of team. It don't matter if Collins did or didn't do it there would be way to much attention everyday to this team. JMO

I've been impressed with the last three drafts, there has been a noticeable effort to take high character guys, I like the approach. Obviously it doesn't mean they are immune to screwing up off the field but I like the odds better that they don't. It's not like the bad seeds are the only ones that can play football.

They are taking talented, smart football players who have low risk to having off field troubles.

Why not? I think we need to continue to attempt to bring in high character players . Call me a snob but this organization has had enough bad press as of late with the latest being the Bell/Blount debacle.

Collins is NOT a suspect and today they discovered the baby was not his. He was not involved at all apparently. He is not eligible for next years draft, so he has to sign this year in order to play. Bring him in and see what it would take to sign him!!!! He is a first round top 10 to top 15 talent.
