Willie Williams was 5'9 ... but 20 lbs heavier.

 

I have a hard time thinking the steelers had only maxx Williams or Rowe on their draft board for the 2nd round and when they were both taken that they panicked and picked golson. This is the NFL and the draft. Teams don't go into this with months of preparation to just make a panic pick.

I'd have to believe that Golson was our second best prospect on the board. I'd have a hard time believing that we didn't have a back up plan haha just because you didn't like our back up plan doesn't mean we didn't have one

 

This is obviously a response to the NFL cracking down on blows to the head. You put short guys like Golson and Shamarko out there you don't have to worry about that kind of thing as they have a difficult time reaching the head of the average NFL WR and TE. Brilliant move.

 

Exactly. They have a huge list of the players and have them ranked where they would feel comfortable drafting them at/etc.

If McCain and Blake showed anything it's that a small corner can still play in this league of big receivers. Hell, the best receiver in this league is 5'10".

Give the guy a chance. He succeeded in a tough college conference. He has better naturally ability than McCain or Blake when it comes to coverage.

 

Tomlin sucks. He should've anticipated this and traded up ahead of Baltimore

fire him immediaty.

 

Actually, I love this pick.
Golson has speed, awareness, isn't afraid of tackling, has great hands and is definitely a ball hawk. Can stand coverage on short patterns and go routes.

This team needed playmakers on D, well, here's our playmaker. He has the ability to be a game changer.
Now, we still need another DB. Wouldn't be surprised if we grab another DB in 3rd or 4th.
