Not me. Jones could end up a guy who can jump far and high but nothing else. I think we needed another pass rusher. This draft is supposed to be CB heavy. 2,3 and 4 may find us good DB's

He had 10 receiving TDs his senior year in high school playing TE ... and he also had 10 sacks.

 

I was looking at the CBS Sports commentary. Normally they are bored with Steeler picks: BPA in the later part of the round. I was a bit surprised that they gave the Steelers the only A+ grade of the 1st round.

 

Dupree will be LOLB. I think with his size he can stand up to RT + TE double teams much better than Worilds did. Locks up that spot long term likely and let's be real ROLB isn't getting it done.

I guess the tradition of our d running through the linebackers will continue in to the Butler era. I really wanted a CB asap but we still can probably get one quick. I guess when I really think about it I would have probably been more surprised to see us take a corner first as opposed to a lb.

I want CB as much as anyone but this pick just made sense.

 

Its a good pick because of what this kid can do. Partially disappointed because of the CB and OLB controversy but yeah..

 

Um, a 6-4 270 pound 3/4 linebacker that puts the hammer to the run, likes the edge, can motor, and is even effective in drop back cover.

Lets see, where does he fit in the NFL (queue jeopardy theme now) ?

Without guys like Dupree, teams would be drafting CBs every round every year, and all for naught.

 

I hate to say but I see the comparison. Yet I would have NEVER have gone with choice 2 or 3.

 

Dupree is an amazing athlete. He had a better long jump and vert than either of the WRs taken in the top ten.

There is an article on Bleacher Report that said Dupree scored higher as an explosive athlete than the other great pass rushers, and that the best pass rushers score high in vert and long jump. Higher than Mario Williams, Cam Wake, Aldon Smith etc.

 

Dupree is the opposite of Jones: Bud is a physical freak who is raw and Jones had a poor combine but great production and instincts.

 

For the record I am really happy with this pick. Dupree is going to be coached up by Butler, Peezy AND Deebo- could not have gone to a better team. Love that Dupree was lined up to cover slot receivers at times at UK.

My take is he was the BPA at a position of equal need to CB when the only CB's left on the board were probably of equal quality to players we can get in the 2nd. To me it was an absolute no brainer and a very good pick. Now if we don't go CB in the 2nd, my take may change.

 

Ha LOL here is hoping not.They did get a heavier LB which I was glad to see, OT won't just push him to the outside.
