if the Steelers don't beat the Pats on opening day the rest of the season will mean nothing

That would be awesome! Then if James Harrison could chime in and say "If you wanna bang heads with me I can show you what it's like. TIL YOU'RE BLEEDING!" That would rock so hard!

Yes, and I believe "having their #" comes down to they have better coaching and QB play. It mostly all comes down to that. Tomlin ain't in Belichick's class. He just isn't.

Other coaches have had their miments. Ryan outcoached him in the 2010 playoffs.

Yeah, and the Giants HC Tom Coughlin out coached him in not 1 but two superbowls, and the truth is he would have lost last years superbowl if it wasnt for that last second pick in the endzone, Belichick can be beat, in the regular season and in the biggest game of them all, and we are going to beat him at his own house September 10, count on it........And how about a little repeat history:

    HOME SWEET HOME

The Patriots improved to 82-15 (.845) at Gillette Stadium in regular season games. With today’s victory over Oakland, New England has now won 31 straight games at home against AFC conference opponents. The Patriots last loss at home against an AFC opponent was a 33-10 loss vs. Pittsburgh on Nov. 30, 2008.

I think the game will come down to who ever has the ball last will win, we have more weapons on offense, DeAngelo Williams wants to prove that he still has a lot fuel left in the tank, he'll be more than enough to open up the passing game. Who knows what will happen on D, and seeing how the cheats love the short game, the pass rush won't mean much, it'll be about closing up the running lanes after the catch.

    1. Without Bell, the Steelers become one dimensional, and the Pats eat up one-dimensional opponents.
    2. Gronk will eat that secondary alive.
    3. Unless Butler gets creative and gets a pass rush, Brady will (as usual) have all day to throw on that 3-4.
    4. Steelers D will need to create turnovers. This is unlikely.

    Expect a blowout.

I doubt that, NE doesn't hit their stride right out of the gate, I'm actually glad we got them this game, I like our chances better.

You could be right. For the sake of balance, though:

    1. We have an entire camp and preseason to prep Williams and get the offense in sync. A few years ago we had an issue with ToP. Now we don't - we just don't take enough points from the possessions we have. So hopefully Haley's got a fix for that.
    2. Cortez Allen's strength (pre=bizarre turn of form) was sticking with the bigger TEs. Shazier is also a weapon we've got in that respect. We have some answers to him, if they're on their game.
    3. We've stopped him before...
    4. Turnovers have been a weakness, but with a settled backfield and improved safety play I could see this improving. I could also see the safety situation being an utter pain all year, swapping guys in and out... but this was meant to be an optimistic post.

Yes. Last year they lost their opener and 2 out of the first 4 games.

Me too. The Pats are always much weaker at the beginning of the season. Remember when they lost the opener to the Dolphins last year, then got blown out by the Chiefs? I do. Not having Bell hurts a lot, but the Pats defense lost Browner, Revis, and Wilfork... I think we have a pretty good shot at beating them in this game.

So there is no reason to believe that one team will be blowing the other out. Plus the Steelers have a better record opening day.

Lets not forget this is also the first reg season game for the officials, are they going to show partiality to the pats like they seem to do in every home game played at NE????
