if the Steelers don't beat the Pats on opening day the rest of the season will mean nothing

this game can set the tone for the rest of the season a loss will put doubt in the players minds and snowball for a few weeks.

Im sure blunt already gave them our playbook. we can only hope brady gets hurt in the preseason and misses the opener thats are only chance

If I owned the Steelers, this is the letter I write:

Dear Mr. Goodell:

It is our understanding that your office has decided to schedule the Steelers on opening night, for the 2016 season, against the defending Super Bowl Champion Patriots. This is unprecedented for a team that has played five preseason games. Our tired football club will have three fewer days to rest for its season opener. However, the bigger issue is that you have also decided to schedule this game knowing our premiere running back, Leveon Bell, has been suspended. We understand and acknowledge the reason for Bell's suspension. However, we do not understand your office's decision to place us in this game, which may have substantial playoff and seeding implications. It is a decision that reflects the best interests of the New England Patriots over those of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

If this game goes through as scheduled, it will be our decision to accept a forfeit and rest our players for their week two contest. You will have to explain to NBC why they will lose millions in television revenue as a result of this attempt to damage our season, immediately, and put our team at an intentional disadvantage. I am sure NBC would not take too kindly to our refusal to play the game. You are more than welcome to schedule another team for that opening night game.
