After the Mike Wallace trade he was expendable, would you want the Steelers to sign him for the veteran minimum as a 4th WR? He could fill the role that Lance Moore was supposed to. In 2014 Jennings had 59 catches 742 yards and 6 TDs playing with crappy QBs in Minnesota.

I'd go for the other Vikings WR Cordarelle Patterson who is reportedly on the trade block. He would solve our kick return duties as well as the 4th WR. A 5th rounder, yea I could go for that.

Why is he on the block? I wanted him in the draft. There was some concerns about his work ethic I remember.

I havent heard anything about Patterson on the block.

But I was waiting for the sign Jennings post.

While D is the biggest concern I think bringing in a vet WR thats OK with being 4th or 5th would be fine. I even thought of Reggie Wayne the other day...not sure who all is out there but at some point be it soon or before the season I think they bring in 1 vet WR.

They have concerns about Patterson learning a pretty basic playbook and he has trouble running routes. Sound familiar? Big play ability but runs sloppy routes and focusing on the play.

People here in town were always aggravated at him. I've been told that he's physically capable of being great but apparently he's lazy and has a reputation for being kinda dumb.

I'm not sure why anyone would just dismiss Jennings out of hand. We really only have 3 experienced receivers, and 2 of them have very little experience. A vet would be good to have - money dependent of course.

Trade for both Patterson and Tavon Austin, and our return game will be unstoppable! :lolol:

I think he has trouble spelling his own name ... which explains "Cordarrelle".

Guys that are used to starting and getting lots of targets tend to make lousy #4 WRs. They get frustrated and create issues. Besides, the dude was making $9,000,000 per season, so I doubt $1,000,000 is going to look very attractive. I'm sure he can do better.

I would agree that what we can offer him dollar wise won't be attractive, but I'm not sure that anyone will offer him attractive money. He turns 32 in September, and I doubt that a big multi-year deal is headed his way. Also, if we did find a way to pick him up, I wouldn't put the #4 receiver spot in ink. I think he'd get a lot of snaps as a #3 in 2015, maybe even time as the #2. Perhaps I'm not as sold on Wheaton as a starter as some are. Bryant has huge upside, but is still learning. We're a "now" team, and a stable, experienced vet like Jennings could help quite a bit. Again - money - dependent.

If we retard Bryant's development to play 32 year old Greg Jennings, I'm asking Tomlin to step outside. :club:

I'm not worried about Bryant's development being retarded. In the NFL, 11 personnel is pretty close to a base offense. We'll have 3 WRs on the field a lot. I might be a bit concerned about Wheaton's development. However, as I said earlier I'm not fully sold on Wheaton. Bottom line - we currently have 3 WRs. Two of those WRs have 1 year of experience. I think a vet presence would help, and Jennings is a guy who has seen a lot in his NFL career. I'm not sure that I want to go into the season with someone like a DHB being 1 injury away from playing a huge role.

Another thing about Jennings release...it had a failed physical designation.

So who knows what that might be and such.

That's the last thing we need to upgrade; see we have this Brown guy who is actually one of the best at his position. Stop wasting time considering things that would be a luxury as opposed to areas that are beat to hell and stink, like CB, OLB and S.

Just because we need some defensive help, doesn't mean an offensive add is a bad thing. Why do you have to ingnore one side of the ball to help the other?
