I seen the colts released him. I have met the kid and watched him play. I know I am alittle bias being a bama fan, but what am I not seeing. he is a good back right? I know he is not a bad teammate. he would be worth bringing in I think. anyone else?

yeah I guess he was a bust there. so he DOES suck? I am only asking cause I will admit I haven't watched him in nfl much. rookie year in Cleveland when they played steelers is it. he was great at bama. never fumbled and ran hard. just wondering what happened

LOL at this thread! I was thinking earlier about coming here and starting a thread called "DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!" and I was gonna talk about how I thought it would be a bad idea to go after Trent Richardson. He has some major demons apparently and he was a healthy scratch in multiple games this year. I figured he would become a hot topic around here. No steel I'd say it would be a bad idea. I thought the clowns were crazy when they let him go but I think this might have been one time they were right. Also I didn't know you were a bama fan! You might get disowned by half your family if they ever read that my friend! LOL.

Disowning would be the best you could hope for from some people. Some people might just kill you for that. LOL. I never had anything against Alabama until they got Saban but I just can not stand that guy. I remember a lot of people hating Gene Stallings when I was little. Although I also remember them hating Johnny Majors, then loving Fulmer, then hating Fulmer, then getting a few games out of Kiffin, and then begging for Fulmer to come back. LOL. I've always preferred Arkansas myself when I did like the NCAA. I've never been a UT fan but I've got family that are religiously devoted to them.

LOL! I figured that would pretty much be the consensus on Trent Richardson. HOWEVER, if this thread were started a few years ago there would be a much different tone to this thread ya know?

Since Cleveland drafted Richardson and was mentioned already in this thread, I wonder what folks would think of an even up trade of Landry Jones for Manzel?? :roflmao:

That would be a steal for the Browns. Jones could legitimatley compete for a starting job there this summer. Johnny Clipboard on the other hand would be too drunk to run the practice squad.

He was a beast a few years ago, to be sure.

A shame, really. One of those 'cases', perhaps.

The kid is missing something. I am not sure what it is, but there is no question, there are some traits making him unproductive as an NFL back. If I had to guess, I would say he lacks vision and running instincts. In college he used his brute power, while running behind a dominant OL, to flourish at that level. But in the NFL, NO ONE is big and powerful enough to just blast into the LOS and produce. It seems he tries to use his same straight line power but everyone is too big in the NFL for that to work. He seems like it is all he has to offer. It just doesn't work on the NFL level - something he is doing just doesn't work. I see no reason why, all of a sudden, his style will be productive. He is a big, fast, powerful guy, but just running straight ahead and trying to run over everyone just doesn't cut it. Even Earl Campbell could move laterally to some degree.

thanks. like I said haven't watched him much in the nfl. I did look at his rookie year and had close to 1000 yards and 15 tds in 15 games. I don't know what happened after that though.

I read earlier that he struggles with conditioning issues and doesn't want to put forth the effort it takes to stay in the shape the team would prefer. I think it was on NFL.COM and they even said they fully expect him to clear all the waivers. He must have a really bad reputation among GM's and coaches.

This guy is a real head-scratcher for me. I have no idea how he went from productive as a rookie to a journeyman back in less than three seasons.

If he really does have a poor work ethic I'd say that explains it. Have you ever seen any videos of guys like AB or Timmons working out? I saw some on youtube and I was out of breath just watching it. I think that's the secret to playing at a high level. A lot of people aren't willing to put that kind of work in.

No doubt, BFT, the guys you mention are beasts in their offseason work. But with Richardson, I read that the Colts wanted him at 227 and he weighed 230 so they fined him. As a casual observer, he doesn't look out of shape or overweight so I can't figure out how what his problem is.

They fined him for 3lbs??? Dang man that seems pretty hardcore to me. I know there was a late game this season where he was a healthy scratch for "personal reasons" but surely that wasn't it. They must have been going to extreme lengths to try and get rid of him. I'd say if he does clear the waivers it will prove that there's some major issues with this guy.

According to Richardson, he missed a Saturday meeting because of a scare with his girlfriend's pregnancy so they suspended him one game. He is also said to be appealing the suspension with the NFLPA. I am paraphrasing, of course. I think I read that on PFT at lunch today.

He needs to visit the soon to be opened Gary Roberts UPMC sports facility in Cherry Hills and let a real work out warrior show him how it is done.

Remember what Quadry Ismail used to say? At the beginning, they write traits of you in pencil. Then, as trends continue, they start writing about your traits in pen, in the NFL. Obviously, Trent's traits are now written in pen. Whether he is lazy or just not productive, it is apparent the word is out on him. I guess he needed a crazed Nick Saban around to keep him in line. Got to say, this is one of the few calls that the Browns actually had right.

You're right about that, and I can remember thinking when I heard the Browns had traded him, "that's why Cleveland picks in the top ten every year, what a stupid move". Looks like I was wrong on that one.
