So because you saw some torn up cushions on the weight benches you come to the conclusion they are cheap? Do you do regular inspections? I only ask because I'm curious as to how long they were torn, were they fixed shortly after you saw them or not at all?

Do you have anything else to support your argument that they are cheap besides torn cushions?

Blast, you are ignoring the fact that they only had a budget of $100 for the entire year for the weight room. And, yes, it was OBVIOUS the padding had been torn for YEARS because of all the aged duct tape used to fix it. You could see it was obvious that the benches had been like that for many years. There was broken equipment laying around. And even now, in their new digs, they choose their weight systems based on who gives them stuff for free, instead of by which systems/machines are actually the best. To me, that is CHEAP. You spend $143 million on player salaries but go for whatever is cheapest on training them? And trust me, these conclusions were not based on seeing one torn bench pad one day and nothing else. The whole gym was a mess. I have seen high school football gyms far more impressive.

I'm not ignoring anything, I'm not aware of their cost to operate a football team. Where did you get your figures from? Also when did you view the weight room? If you're talking about a weight room you saw in the 70/80's, you probably described the weight room of every NFL team. I'd be very surprised if you saw that today.

    Ummm, you kind of are.

    http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000475775/article/nfl-salary-cap-will-be-14328-million-in-2015

That's the salary cap. Pgh will end up right near the top of it. $143 million.
    1999.

Not at all. The vast majority of other teams weight rooms were far superior to the Steelers. Today, they gym LOOKS better than that, but they still make equipment decisions on the basis of what they get for free, as opposed to what is best. I would call that cheap.

    No, he isn't.

    That doesn't support your argument.

    Neither does that.

How do you know how it looks today? You claim to have seen it in 1999. And how do you know how it looked to others' in 1999 - did you make a tour of NFL weight rooms? If so, do you have picture evidence to back it up? How about a published article?

Um, no, lol. Even if your $100 budget claim was true, I don't know what their budget is.

You posted "Blast, you're ignoring their 100 budget..." There was never any mention prior to that so how could I be ignoring it?

Where is the 100 budget link? You gave me a cap link which doesn't support your argument at all. I'm not trying to pick on you Llyod but this has become your MO, throw a bunch of stuff at the wall and see what sticks and hope no one fact checks you.

And as for getting free equipment? Good for them, called maximizing your profit. And while we are at it, link us for that claim too please.

    Thank you.

You want to compare first hand knowledge of NFL/Div 1 weight rooms? A one-time observation. If you had any idea how foolish you SHOULD look, but don't know it.

If it was public information it would be public information. Do you know how silly your stance looks? So, which NFL teams make their various budgets public?

Well, the salary cap is public, but that is it.

That's two in less than a minute. I'll take how to make enemies and alienate people for $1,000 Alex.

I'm not the one criticizing something I haven't seen in 16 years. If you have a better basis for judgment you're not doing very well in presenting it.

Yes, I'm sure my stance looks very silly to those following along.

So if its not public, where did you learn about it?

In a non public forum, of course. Oh, don't worry I will photocopy their corporate budget from 1999 and have pictures of tore up bench pads for proof. <GIANT ROLLING OF EYES>

Just because you say they're cheap and claim to have insider info isn't proof.

Really? Wow, ok, Llyod, we'll just drop it since you don't have a shred of proof and the discussion has turned beyond ridiculous. Forgive me if I don't accept your intricate expertise knowledge of the Steelers budget as fact.
