You do know Sean Lee is injury prone don't you? He hasn't finished a full season in 3 or 4 years.

Yes I do. Just trying to illustrate that I've never thought much of Worilds as a player.

I was shocked when I heard the news this morning. I've never really felt that Worilds had the passion for the game of football that many players have, James Harrison, Ike Taylor and others come to mind. He just seemed to me to be going through the motions a lot. I know this is a retrospective view, but that has been my observation.

I'm actually excited. Means we're going to see some more change this year! Maybe they'll keep some of these guys that flash in preseason around and not try to slide them to the practice squad.

On the bright side I think Howard Jones will get a shot. Really want to see what he can do!

    Small school stigma got him.

I think he may be ready this year. I really liked that he had bend and swim moves already in his bag. His size isn't horrible, but I think they need his run stopping to get better. I don't care how you get him on the field.

Can he drop into coverage and play in space?

Well they're going to have to see now won't they? Even if he can't, would that be any worse than Worilds? He wasn't that great dropping either and JH got abused dropping into coverage...that one SB INT being an exception.

Yeah Lizard, I agree. We need our OLB's first and foremost to apply generous amounts of pressure on the QB. If they can do that well I think we can all live with whatever coverage skills they have.

And then there are players like LaMarr Woodley who signs a big contract, and ends up getting cut halfway through his 56 mill deal, signs a big contract with the raiders and gets cut after his first season and now is a cardinal on a 1 year deal for vet mini 800K, yeah, they get the big money and then dog it on the field, congrats to Worilds for being honest and not defrauding some team out of millions....

Nonsense. For most of his career, Harrison was great in coverage. His last few years (2012, 2014) not so much, due to age. And early in his career, he didn't have the mental side down, which kept him off the field and off the team. But he was great in coverage. Not the best in the league, like he was against the run and rushing the passer, but great nonetheless.

Worilds was also good in coverage, for the left side. Before him we had Woodley, who was good for a man of his size, but still not that good, and spent most of his time rushing.

HoJo is pretty athletic I think, so he should be able to pick it up this year.

    I agree.

Yes, I'm sure that was Worilds thought process.

With LeBeau here, it took about 3-4 years until a defender gets playing time, so that doesn't help in cases like this. That was of operating was beyond retarded. We get to use a player for 1 year and then they are free agents. We had to use the franchise tag on JW to even get 2 years of play out of him. We got a total of one good year out of Lewis before he bolts. How can the Rooneys not realize this or do something about it (perhaps they have, finally).

For most of DL's tenure here, players didn't get on the field sooner because of the talent in front of them. The last couple seasons the rookies have been getting on the field much quicker.

So what do you guys think? Is it Derick Morgan or bust for a FA OLB? Who exactly is left?

I think moats is gonna open some eyes with more playing time. I think he feels like he has a home here, and I believe he will improve as a full time OLB not bouncing back and forth from inside - out.

I totally agree about Moats. I remember a lot of times this season where I felt like he was our best shot at getting to the qb. I know Heyward led the team in sacks but I'm sure his snap count was quite a bit more than Moats wasn't it?

Indeed it was his faith & one should admire such a guy. At least I do anyway. All I've ever heard about Worlds (off the field) is that he was a always such a nice guy. I see this as a big loss & am very sad to see him go. However, I totally respect & admire his decision.

So ... if Worilds knocks on your door, would it be bad form to get an autograph before slamming the door in his face?
