I don't think it's quite like putting your dog down; I just did that not long ago. Troy will still be alive after he is no longer a Steeler; my dog no longer is. I find it far easier to let Troy go then watching that needed penetrate your dogs leg, and watch him lose consciousness. But, yea, it's not fun seeing Troy told to get packing. But, like I said, he isn't dying or anything.

Wow, what a pile of :bscow:

Theres more conjecture in that article than an entire year of court room cases. I think that is how that writer feels about Tomlin and not even remotely close to how Troy feels about him.

I just hope Polamalu gets better treatment than Arians or Lebeau.

Well, I didn't mean it LITERALLY. Just comparing the uncomfortableness when you know the end is coming and inevitable. Im in that dreaded zone right now. Dog will be 14 at the end of the month...if she makes it that long. Last few weeks there's been a noticeable decline in her physical health. Mentally she's great though and that makes it harder.

If Troy really felt like that about Tomlin why would he even want to play for him ? If the vets hated Coach T the way the article suggest they would all be asking to be released or they would all retire .

I'm not so sure that article is 100% off base. Embellished for sure, but the core is still fairly straight.

What I find humorous is that the article written by a fan on a fan site has about as much truth behind it as the Bouchette article and no one is batting an eye at that one before every major sports media outlet ran with it.

It also flys in the face of the poll taken of what coach players would like to play for most, Tomlin was amongst the top choices.

Not sure your point but thank you for pointing out who wrote it, I hadn't looked but now I know why it reads exactly like a fan wrote it, it was.

As for Bouchette, I make fun of him from time to time but he is light years ahead of steeldad in the credibility dept, the guy is around the team every day and actually does have sources, Steeldads source is the guy sitting at the corner of the bar.

But Bouchette's job is to sell papers and while he is a more credible source than Steel dad it wouldn't be the first time he has taken some assorted facts and made a story out of it. IiRC he was the one responsible for the Harrison turning down more money to play in Cinco drama. In the end it's all speculation till it actually happens. I loved how it became a real story once Ian Rapport confirmed it by of all things talking to Ed. Then the following day kabloy from the Trib reported that Troy's agent told him Troy hasn't made any decisions yet.

Well, like I said, I make fun of Bouchette too. But at least his articles come across professionally written and not some fan bias piece, which is how steeldads read.

As for Raporport, you dont only need to take what he prints with a grain of salt, you have to take it with an entire salt shaker.

This line of discussion is a little weird to me. Sure, sports journalists get away with a ton of crap and some (like Ed) are very good at making their opinions sound like they're facts, but Bouchette is a journalist who actually does, you know...have sources.

I take everything that Pittsburgh beat writers say with a grain of salt because yes the follow the team and have sources but at the end of the day they work for newspapers and have to sell stories. So they are no better or worse than fans

By that I mean as far as guys like steeldad. He has pits his thoughts out there in such a way as to generate site traffic. He could have been less controversial but that wouldn't get noticed. So no better than Bouchette in his attempts to clicks

Far better than fans. They produce more facts than fodder, steeldads pieces was pure fodder.
