I'm a buckeye fan, and watch plenty of Penn State games. Idk if I'll know his game as well as the true lions fans, but I've seen him enough to have an opinion....

he has great size, but is utterly unimpressive on the field. Very little production for a guy that has the size to be a big mismatch. Not that Hackenburg is a great QB, but he is good enough to not blame his lack of production on really poor QB play. I don't think he is a good blocker either. There's not a lot about his game that I covet, and I'd personally be pretty disappointed if we took him before the 5th round. There are way better options at the position (in a similar round too) in guys like Kroft, Heuerman, and even O'Leary.

though I do think deion barnes from penn.st. could be a decent OLB. I'm still a Mitchell or walford TE fan though. walford preferably. I doubt we go that high for one though.

I still like Koyack from Norte Dame. I think he can definitely be our next Heath.

I know he's your guy BF, but man for the life of me I can't see what you do in him. I think his skills are just about rob blanchflower or below. they seem like similar players in skill level.

No surprise Mac, we never agree on TE's :lolol:

He's a hell of a blocker and has good hands, good catch radius, he catches in traffic, he catches twisting and laying out in the air (probably he nicest catch I've seen of his) I dont know whats not to like. He's a blue collar type player all the way and will give you everything he's got. Wouldn't be surprised to see him taken by the 3rd round by someone.

I must have missed all that. I've not seen all that on any tape I've watched of his. I've seen average blocking and limited route usage and production in the passing game. i'll have to investigate further, but I've just not seen it yet.

Stands out to me. You know how this works though, Mac, two people look at the same prospect and come away with different opinions all the time. You're the first to question his blocking though, thats a given with him, the knock is he's not fast or as polished a catcher as other more athletic TE's. He's generally thought of as the 5th best in this class of TE's

Hackenberg's number 1 problem was the offensive line. PSU only had 9 scholarship athletes on their Oline depth chart and two of those were switched from the defensive line. Also, their starting left guard Miles Dieffenbach missed the majority of the season as a result of a torn ACL during spring practice. The second problem was the new head coach insisted on using the read option way too much. Hackenberg is a classic pocket passer and is zero threat to run.
