I don't see why we can't give him a fair deal that pays him more for the more meaningful games you win ? IMO stats should have little to do with his new deal. The Goal is to win it all not to be the NFL stat leader . A lot of Ben's success last year was because of Coaching and players doing things after the catch .

Don't get me wrong I think Ben is above average as a QB , but our Defense is below average. A team player would want a good Team over a lot of money . As stated I think Ben could make more on endorsements than he could in this contract if he could win a few more championships .

I think his bad image from his early days are all but gone , all he needs to do now is win more championships for the cash cow to start kicking out .So as stated I would approach his contract in such a manor .

I don't see Ben as a marketable endorser for anyone but Steeler fans. I think you're viewing him through the lens of a Steeler fan and a male. I know more than one female non-Steeler fan who still revile him and think he did something very bad. I also know plenty of male non-Steeler fans who can't stand him. Also, I'm not sure why you're replying to me about stats factoring into his value. I didn't mention stats once. He is far better than above average. He's borderline top 5. He has accomplished tons more than Matt Ryan, and Ryan is #2 in average salary. Ditto other high priced guys like Romo and Cutler. I think Steeler fans need to come to grips with what Ben's market value is, and that there's no reason to expect him to take less.

This isn't even remotely true. Outside of Pittsburgh, he is generally refered to as Rapistberger. People like that don't get endorsements, they loose them. Inside of Pittsburgh, he is tolerated because of his football skills. Personnally I think once a pig always a pig. But as long as he is the QB of the Steelers I will root for the Steelers QB to do well. Once he is gone from the team, he is gone from interest.

Well none of us know what occurred with those woman and he has kept his nose clean has gotten Married and has a Family. As long as he keeps that intact and he adds Championships he should get a pardon IMO .

Heck maybe he will only be able to endorse Bible products or work for the 700 club. 'Let he that is without sin cast the first stone'. That could be the campaign.

very few NFL players make lots in endorsements. Other than Peyton Manning, I can't think of anybody doing national ads. Ben does a few local things, ads for car dealers and such.

I agree that Ben has a mixed image outside of Pgh. My wife hates his guts. She is not alone.

I'm sure the team will get a deal done with Ben. I'd be surprised if it isn't $22 mil/yr at least. The home town discount will be tiny.

That doesn't matter. When corporations are involved it's all about public perception and image . I've got friends all over the country and every single one of them(sans Steeler fans) refer to him as rapelesberger or some derivative. The Roethlisberger corporate sponsorship ship has sailed.

Well I could see that image change if he took a discount went out there and won and continued to be a solid Family man. Who knows ? I hope he is not called a Rapist all his life esp. considering he was never charged with a crime. Go figure.

Sexting and rape accusations aren't even in the same stratosphere.

I can't believe how many people think he should take a discount - why? You have to realize that he doesn't have the loyalty that you have and he shouldn't. It is a business. He is only a couple of bad seasons away from being fired at all times. The Steelers organization doesn't have any loyalty to him. If he plays bad, they won't think twice about showing him the door. He knows this, of course, will negotiate to get the most he can get based on his market value. Ben won't take a discount and neither would you in his situation.

Also there are the Subway ads as well. I remember the stupid Eli commercials where he had a watch endorsement.

Ok, that makes two guys. I stand by my comment that 'few NFL players' get national ads.

And with some more Championships Ben would be a good fit for Harley-Davidson he could use the safety first stuff . He is just a big biker looking dude and they could use his fame to tap into the Football Fan market .

Maybe Ben should hire me as his agent. lol
