According to Chat Sports, The Pittsburgh Steelers should keep a good eye on Larry Fitzgerald as he enters free agency this year. The wide receiver has spent his entire career with the Arizona Cardinals, and if he returns, the team will have to spend over $23 million of their salary cap on him.
After making over $110 million in his NFL career, Fitzgerald could be due back in Pittsburgh. He played college football at Pitt and has actively trained with Steeler’s quarterback Ben Roethlisberger in the offseason.
Cardinals President Michael Bidwell has already assured that the wide receiver will return to Arizona, but perhaps Fitzgerald will end his career in the city that made him.

While replacing Lance Moore with Fitz would be cool. He would have to accept he could be a low man on the totem pole. Also he would have to accept a LOW contract...something probably similar to Moore. As they do not have the free money to spend on someone like him.

But I'd welcome it if everything worked out.

Well... I'd love to have Fitz here. He wouldn't be the lowest man on the totem pole, he'd be a starter and see a lot of single coverage outside of the red zone. Could be a bit of a resurgence for his fantasy football value. Money could be an issue though, even with him having already pocketed 100+ million.

How good is Fitz anymore? He has had to have lost a step by now?

Would be a great mentor to Bryant.

Not holding my breath but that would be a fearsome receiving corps. AB, Fitz, Bryant and Wheaton.

Honestly I don't know if he'd want to work with Haley again. I would love to have him though. I bet the pats will make him an offer since Amendola is gonna be a cap casualty. Or maybe even the rats. Or is Flacco eating them up?

I posted it originally and think it's a pipe dream, but I think it "could" be awesome! We need help all over the defense and our offense just needs a tweak here or there, really! Who knows, with the bank that Fitz has earned through the years, "maybe" we and not someone else, could get him on the cheap??? PLEASE, though for the love of GOD, don't let him sign with the Pats or Ravens especially! Maybe the Colts have money, but they need to pay Luck! If Fitz doesn't become a Steeler (pipe dream more than likely anyway), I just hope that he stays in the NFC but just not with the Cowboys or Packers!!! Just a great Dude who I think that can still ball...he had below average QB's in Arizona since Warner PLUS he and Ben are apparently tight!!!

I love the idea of Fitz in Black & Gold, but with the success of Bryant and Wheaton this past season and the optimism going forward with them, I can't see it as enough of a need for the Steelers to pursue.

Fitz had over 1,400 yards and double digit TDs both seasons under Haley.

If and that's a big if we are talking here the Cards don't hold on to him I believe the Vikings will be a frontrunner for his services. He is from Minnesota, they need a legit WR threat to allow Patterson to continue developing and MN will have some money to play with.

Yeah he was awesome with him but I just don't know how much he "likes" him. Haley got in to it with Boldin and I think even had some heat between him and Warner.

The word here in the desert Fitz is in negotiations and indicators are he is going to take a team friendly contract, he has already said he doesn't want to leave...

If the cards do not sign him he may just do that, aka come home. Think of the knowledge he has to share with Brown, Bryant and most of all Wheaton. And his hands are the best in the NFL as far as I am concerned. Saying that, I bet the cards do a restructure and he get all 23 mill and takes a smaller hit. Some kind of restructure thingie

I'm not too sure I wouldn't just grab some of this young talent coming out of college. we have hit well with wr's and mann seems to be doing well with development of them. I do think we need a better #2 guy to team with AB as Bryant and wheaton further develop, but pitting a larry fitz with AB is just taking reps off of the best receiver in the business. would fitz fit in a #2 role? that is the question and also how much would it strap other spots on the team taking that type of money? I just don't see it as a good fit for us.

    This.
Not sure how legitimate "Chat Sports" is, but it really could be nothing more than one of you guys with a website publishing some wild dream that he had.
WR is the least of the Steelers worries going into next year. Now if he could switch to Cornerback and prove to be effective, or gain a ton of muscle mass and be Bell's back up at RB, then maybe the Steelers should entertain the idea.

True, but home would be with the Minnesota Vikings since he's originally from Minnesota, not Pittsburgh. He only spent a few years here going to college.

    **edit**
Sorry I just saw that Thorn already addressed this.

I think that Blount guy for the pats is gonna be a free agent and we might want to look at him as a possible backup. Oh. Wait. LOL. I really do want to get a good backup for Bell though. Corner is probably top of my list though. I'm telling you right now that if we draft another dang stupid project player early I am gonna absolutely lose my ever loving flipping mind.

I'm hoping they draft a punter in the 3rd just so I can see that.

That's not something that would necessarily do it. I wouldn't mind having a really good punter that could reverse field position and help our d out. But another qb or undersized back that can't pass protect would probably do it. Especially if there's a good db on the board that then falls to Baltimore or something.

Larry is and still can be great, but we are up against the cap now, can't clear that much space. He hasn't had a decent QB since Werner retired still HOF.Larry is a rock star in the Steel City. Loved by many
    not only by PITT.

It seems like we're always up against the cap and struggling to clear space just to re-sign some of our own guys.

When you over pay people or think the people
you have paid will produce at a high level and don't you become what we have become. Along with striking out in (2) consecutive draft classes 2008,2009 you have what we have. A team in transition with an aging franchise QB, his window is closing, we better find some immediate impact players before #7 rides off into the sunset.
