I'm liking what we are stocking up on. definitely some guys that were good in college.

I'm holding out hope for some of these guys. I still think Dangerfield can be good, but he needs to make the step that Robert Golden seems to struggle make. They obviously picked Blanchflower for a reason, and while he's not the second coming of Heath, I'm hoping he at least surpasses Palmer. Howard Jones the board is well aware of.

What do people know about the other LBs and WRs here in particular? With our situation at OLB, are we likely to see any of these getting a chance to break through?

I'm rooting for Jones and Villanueva mostly from a feel good story, but beyond that the common sense side of me realizes the majority, if not all, of these guys will be gone when camp breaks. I'd love to be surprised 10 times over.

Excited to see what HoJo can do.

Just heard Villanueva was impressing in practices during the later part of the year, so that is promising.

Hemer is a giant of a man, very interested it his potential.

there are more " names" on this list than in years past and I expect a few to stick around.

Washington from mizzou is a pretty good WR. I even wanted us to draft him at one point.

hemmer I think can play and will as a backup DE this year.

kruger is that ultimate tweener. he stood up some at Utah as well as having his hand in the dirt. could be a pass rush sub package guy off the edge.

conrath was another guy I thought we may have drafted as a late pick. he was decent at Virginia.

egnew I think can make it as a backup TE.

we have lots of safeties in here right now. a few are better as more than special teams like Dangerfield is. even fogg is more of a safety, playing both in college. I'm not sure what this means to troy, golden, allen or us drafting the spot or not. we seem to be stockpiling that position. lewis and darby were pretty good in college.

al Villanueva I have high hopes for.

blanchflower and Goodwin they seemed to like last year. with a season under their belts with the team, maybe they have upped their worth.

nix I think could be a gem. how he's used will yet to be seen. they have him listed as Missouri, but I remember him at kent state. he was more of a d-lineman there. he can penetrate quickly and well into the backfield. he disrupted plays before they happened. sometimes from DT. he reminds me of the kid from pitt last year arron Donald. the kid that made plays but was too small for the NFL. well the rams love him and the NFL has taken notice he isn't to small. nix is a poor mans version of him. he may even be a force in the sub packages off the edge or from one of the two down spots. interesting player.

I expect a few players could come from here. it will help the cap numbers if they do. several of these guys were on the cusp of making teams or did for a short while and may not have been great fits where they were or just needed another year or two of seasoning first. happy to see us busy though with a better eye on guys that could possibly help us.

I've learned not to get too excited about PS guys. I'm interested in Blanchflower but I'll find out just how much they think of him by whether they draft another TE or not. Dulac said he gets better every time he steps on the filed, for what thats worth.

the arrow is pointing in a better direction for next year. we made a 3 game improvement from the prior two years. I thought last year we were a season away from getting good again. I think the coaching staff is better and will mesh much better after a year together which will help overall. we have a good staff in place now, it should reap some dividends soon. is it enough? who knows, but I like the trend. ^

    This.

Kinda hard to be excited about guys that only have a lottery style chance of ever making an impact. I'm more concerned with the potential started losses (Troy, Ike, etc) than guys that might make a big push for a special teams spot.

But one has to wonder how much of that three games improvement can be explained by playing the AFC and NFC south this year.

They certainly explain two of our losses.

I think it's very obvious that the whole weak/strong division thing counts for little about this team. They play well against good teams (mostly) and poorly against poor teams (mostly). Watching the actual games may be a better way of explaining our improvements...

Every scheduled game against the NFC south was a gift from the football gods this year. Losing those games was at best wasteful and at worse blasphemy.:smiley1:

we were a very young team and old team rolled up into one. being able to gain 3 games with a team like that against any nfl teams means something. we had a lot of new coaches and players playing so I wouldn't write it off as gimme's. at least that's how I'm looking at it.

we needed the experience of team building and I think we got that to an extent. adding wins only advanced that heading into a more challenging season. our guys have some experience under their belts now and we will find out if it was a fluke.

CJ Goodwin has some potential. He looked every bit as good as Justing Brown when I was at camp. So if he improves form last year, he may just get a shot.

    • at least we have some talent to look at. if we can get a player or two out of this bunch we could free up some needs in the draft. at least a glimps of hope.
