Yeah and they are a bs tuck rule away from not making that SB and they are a missed chip shot away from losing to the Ravens and not advancing to that SB, not to mention yesterdays illegal tripping that more than likely seals their fate if called.

And yes, they beat the Colts handily but how many other games did it help them out? Their fumble ratio sure is peculiar. Fact is, you dont cheat unless you think it will give you an edge.

I don't know how BB is the greatest of all time, its like people act like his tenure with the Browns never happened. I could easily see Noll, Walsh and Landry being ahead of him, lets not forget Lombardi too.

No. It WAS a big deal. It DID give them a considerable advantage. They were doing it for a long time. And it WAS covered up. No. I will never let it go. You deal with it.

Are you so obtuse you think inflate gate was about one game???

Or that it was an isolated incident?

Or that it was the only under handed crap they were pulling for 15 years???

No. That franchise REEKS of taint. And we'll never forget how they attained their legacy*.

(And don't even try that nonsense about steroids. They weren't against the rules. Every team used them. It's false equivalency like that that let's *s fans think they're legit.)

But it's all relative. Free agency has hurt team continuity. That's for sure. But while we may say that BB and Brady won despite a bunch of HOFers, they also didn't have tp beat many HOFer-filled teams, either.

Look at those 70s Raiders, Dolphins, Vikings, and Cowboys. The Steelers had to get through all of them.

Then you look at the 80s Redskins, Giants, Bears, and 49ers.

The Pats didn't have to go through that kind of gauntlet year in and year out.

No. I don't think it is about one game. I like to think about things over time with consistent evidence.

They have won their division 13 out of 14 years (only miss was 2nd place without Brady). They've been to 3 Super Bowls SINCE Spygate.

Even if they deflated balls for every home game since 2001, their results speak for themselves and it's about time Steelers fans admit that we just aren't as good. Period. They've beaten the Steelers ass consistently in Pittsburgh as well, with balls that were under our control.

I HATE to admit it. I HATE that we weren't able to take advantage of 2010, or that we have wasted better parts of Big Ben's career with subpar offensive linemen and lately, a subpar defense.

The reality is that Belichick has been able to make it work with a wide variety of talent over a long period of time, with literally zero dropoff from year to year.

Anyone that still believes there is another coach with a better historical resume at this point is either A) a monster homer or B) way too nostalgic for the past

No way in my eyes. Knoll accomplished it with the team he drafted...prior to free agency so he wasn't able to buy his team. The games were also officiated much differently back in the 70's compared to all of the BS penalties being called these days. Lastly, the Steelers of the 70's were never accused of cheating the way Belichek's teams have been so that in and of itself put Knoll in a class way above Belichek.

The main difference between Noll and BB is the fact Noll didnt have to contend with free agency and a salary cap during his superbowl runs, give BB credit for winning 4 in free agency, thats tough to do in this era for any head coach....

They have the talent, as much as I hate to say it. The problem isn't whether or not they crushed Indy in the last playoff game anyway, the problem is their lack of integrity, and on top of that, lack of integrity despite the fact that they were able to handle Indy so severely. Whether people want to admit it or not, integrity and sportsmanship is still matter.

You can call me a monster homer or whatever, but I'll just say this- when people, and I mean former players, coaches, other team's fans etc...talk about Chuck Noll, they talk about him with respect, because the man was an icon, and a symbol of hard work and fair play.

When people talk about Belichick, many of them slip and say Belicheat. <drops mic>

But Noll DID get accused of it sorta by Davis didn't he? At least the franchise did when he thought they froze the field to slow their offense or whatever. So if Al Davis was hating on Noll it speaks volumes to the fact that the man must have been a saint. LOL. I wish I could have been old enough to watch him in his hey day.

I don't even know what to say. Al Davis may have been the devil himself. Darth Vader barely trusted him.

LOL! That is awesome. Man Al Davis is one of those people that just gets under my skin every time I think about him. The guy went to his grave believing that he got screwed by the league in the Immaculate Reception and in the playoffs when it was cold. He was the antithesis of the Rooney model and maybe that's why I just can't bare him. Jerry Jones is another guy like that.

He won a playoff game in Cleveland, that might be the most impressive thing on his resume.

Some people don't understand why others can't get over SpyGate- I don't understand how people can treat it like it's nothing. It's CHEATING. They took opportunities away from other teams that were not cheating. I don't see them winning all 3 Superbowl's if they hadn't cheated and anyone who does is delusional. They wouldn't have even gotten that far. They may have won 1 or 2. As far as DeflateGate- I don't care if they beat the Colts 100-7. They still intentionally gained an advantage over the other team. They cheated. The WORST part is that they didn't NEED to. Tom Brady is a good QB- but if he wasn't guilty of having a part in SpyGate- and he had morals at all- he would've ran as far away from Bellicheck as possible. I sure as hell would have because I wouldn't want my name tarnished any further. But he stayed. Since they got caught cheating twice, I wonder how many times they cheated and DIDN'T get caught. I can't say they did for sure- but no one here can say they didn't. The question wasn't about Brady though-it was about Belliecheck. Like people said- it's difficult to compare them since they coached in different eras. Of course you can argue that Chuck took a team that was bad, built the team up, & took them to 4 SuperBowls. He won all 4, he never lost one. BUT you also can't compare them because Bellicheck CHEATED. You can't give him 100% credit when he knew what the other teams were going to do. That is the bottom line. Bill cheated, Chuck didn't and that, among other reasons, makes Chuck superior.

These Cheatriot threads are ludicrous. I doubt for one minute their boards are being inundated with "Are we better than the Steelers? Is Belicheat better than Noll? Is Brady the greatest person ever known to mankind?" WE set the standard and have 6 rings. Eras are different, rules are different, equipment is different, etc. Some people argue the salary cap era is harder. Let's see what kind of team Belicheat fields by just using players he drafts, like Noll did in the earlier years til FA took over. There's always going to be a cloud over the Cheaters, Spygate, Deflategate, No Communicationgate, they make a mockery of the weekly injury list ( couple of times they reported 25+ injuries ) and who knows what else. Hell, one of the greatest coaches of all time, Shula, calls him Belicheat. Where there's smoke there's fire. Never heard ANY court case where evidence was burned. I think Noll was a genius and a great coach and Belicheat will never be in the conversation.......period.

I definitely think they lose to the Rams. I'm convinced they taped their walk through, thats just one they didn't get caught at. If you listen to people in the know who have talked to those Ram players, they are certain NE new the plays and they definitely played like they knew what was coming. Even Warner now is skeptical about it. Upsets happen all the time but the Rams should have killed them.

It also lends credence to why the tapes were burned, because why burn the tapes if it was just signals that were filmed, that's not that big of deal but winning the SB by cheating is worth covering up.

I've personally never considered Spygate to be that big of a deal. There are former players and coaches that say the same thing. Rod Woodson actually said he didn't think it was a big deal. Honestly I think Tomlin stepping on the field was probably worse. It was never confirmed they taped a walkthrough. They were fined for filming a Jets game and They stomped the Jets in that game of week one. I'm not saying I think it's "right" to do it. I'm just saying that I don't think their dynasty has been built on spygate or deflategate or whatever else. I don't think spygate rises to the level of steroids in baseball or the ref that was cheating in the NBA some years ago. The pats didn't invent cheating in sports. That has existed before and will exist long after. I mean do people think spygate is on the level of what Pete Rose did?

So now to stick up for your boys you'll just dismiss the cheating because they didn't invent it and its not that big of deal. Because you know, everyone cheats when they feel they wont gain any advantage of it.

They burned the tapes, thats enough proof for me that the walk through was on it, why burn them if it was just signals.

Far worse that what Pete Rose did, he never bet on his own team and therefore could never effect the outcome of any game. It's beyond stupid that one of the greatest baseball players has been erased from the game for something he did when he was not a player and had no effect on the games.

I'm not sticking up for them. I think it was wrong. I just don't think it's the reason they are what they are. I personally think spygate was a vendetta from Eric Mangini. If the rams really thought it was that big of a deal I don't understand why they waited that long to say anything about it. The rams story was never even corroborated. The league destroyed the tapes and not the team. I also think Pete Rose should be in the Hall but he knew what he was doing was wrong and he did it anyway. Pete Rose is a liar and that's the reason I think he's not in there. If he had been honest from the start he would probably be in right now.

No, thats not it, baseball is just really hung up on gambling, probably because they want to uphold the integrity of the game but the steroid era destroyed the integrity anyway.

    Rams did complain right away.

I dont care if it was a vendetta by Mangini, he exposed NE for what they are.

But if that is true about Mangini he really doesn't come out with much integrity either because he waited til after he was gone to do it. The pats thumped the jets in week one and didn't need the tape to do it. The thing that Bill was fined for was the "where" they filmed. Teams were allowed to film but just not from a certain angle and it was the angle that got them in trouble. I wonder if Mangini turned his Super Bowl ring if he got one for being on the pats staff since he was such a whistleblower? I feel the whole thing about deflategate also happened because the rats got mad that Bill outcoached them and used a clever way to substitute to neutralize their pass rush and so they then came out with all that deflated ball stuff. It just seems that teams today can't take the fact that they get outcoached and outplayed and always have to find some reason for why they're just not good enough. It's really quite golden how the rats acted like they didn't know what Ray Rice was doing but TMZ can get to the bottom of it but then these morons try to act like they are "protecting the integrity of the shield" and all that crap. They are also a team that has had multiple people busted for juicing but they complain about ball pressure? I don't think that it was right to do what the pats or the rats did but I just don't think what the pats did are the reason they have had so much success. They went 18-0 AFTER the taping thing. I just don't know how much of an advantage it actually gave them. I would say juicing gives you much more of an advantage than that and the seahawks have had multiple people busted for that and so have a lot of other teams but people act like only the pats do things to gain an edge. It's clearly not true but I doubt anyone would have said the hawks are "cheaters" if they had won the other night because not many people said they were cheaters last year.
