I'll tell you this, he's no Josh Harris, he's no Dri Archer, he's not even a Ben Tate!!

you have a good argument there, I don't know why they didn't just suspend him. I too was surprised they didn't get a competent back up earlier. I guess they thought Harris was the guy. IIRC they talked to Tate back then too.

The Steelers FO and Tomlin probably thought cutting him would send a message to the team more effectively than suspending him. Maybe they will correct that in the future, but hopefully that situation does not present itself again.

I'm glad he jettisoned that cancer. Walk out on the team, screw him, he's only playing nice in NE because he's the starter. Never would have been that here, Bell is 5 times the RB he is.

I agree Bell's a better RB But IMO Tomlin/Colbert did not handle that situation well, i said it then and im saying it now... And i think we see the results that has became of it .. JMO

They should have kept him? There were players saying they should have left him there after the game. And there was no one else out there for Colbert to sign that would have made a difference so can't really beat on him for that.

Bellichick got rid of Randy Moss when Moss said he didn't feel wanted. Moss was later released by the Vikings who traded for him the same year.

No one should be mad at Tomlin for getting rid of Blount when Bellichick got rid of Moss for the same thing.

Where I think Tomlin went wrong is not punishing Blount at ALL for being arrested. That sends the wrong message and if Bell had not been involved maybe Blount would have been off the team then.

I get tired of Tomlin coming down hard on role players and playing favorites and I'm pretty sure some of the players must too.

This heart of a Steeler BS is what needs to go...yes there has been many players who have embodied what we feel it means to be a Steeler...they truly bleed Black and Gold....one of them is IKE TAYLOR who everyone is ready to run out of town now...But most of them are just players getting a check.....Blount would of been a great CHECK GETTER..... I do not know if Blount would of helped the Steelers get to the Super Bowl....I do know he would have been a better backup than anyone else on the roster....and I do know New England would not have been as good without him.

It bothers me that the Patriots have a better locker room and coaching staff than the Steelers do....I mean they must...Blount is a model citizen and teammate in NE....Pats turned around a few "head case" players that people on this board wanted nothing to do with...Randy Moss comes to mind....yet the Steelers have to draft choir boys or they are not Steeler material.

Remember...Blount did do something very stupid....he left the field early...he quit on his teammates....You had to punish him...and maybe even cut him...but you could also have suspended him....he was upset because he wants to play and compete....thats not a bad problem to have....yes Bell was playing great...and went over 200 yards...but 180 from Bell and 20 from Blount might have kept him in the Burgh and the Steelers in the playoffs.

You can argue about all you want about what they could of or should of done..but these numbers are a simple FACT

    2014/15 playoff stats
    L Bell - 0 carries - 0 yards - 0tds
    L Blount - 33 carries - 149 yards - 3tds with one more game to go

    HACK

    This thread is ridiculous.

Keeping Blount would have kept us in the play offs? Very little evidence for this.
Keeping Blount would have prevented Bell from getting injured? This would only be feasible if Bell was injured in garbage time, or on a play where Blount would have likely been playing.
I'm not sure how many times people need to see that Bell's injury has nothing to do with being on the field too long.

And btw, are we all forgetting how well Blount played last week? One good game for the Pats - literally his only good game this year - and suddenly he's the key for a superbowl victory?

Not only would keeping Blount have NOT kept us in the playoffs, but I don't think the Steelers would have beaten the Rats with a healthy LeVeon Bell. They were better coached, better prepared and the better team. Ben was off his game from the outset and we've seen it before. He just didn't have IT that night, simple as that. The Steelers lost. The Rats won. Blount would not have mattered, PERIOD!

I have noticed one thing that keeps popping up here and among other threads, time and time again. and that,s Coaching . And if all the Tomlin supporters like it or not. this season's failures fall on him . Rather it be How Blount was cut, or Bell getting to many carries, Or how Ben should have not played when he was hurt OR numerous other thing's that happend during the season... Coaching.. And untill Tomlin learns how to do that, constantly . we wil strt off slow again nxt year... B ut wait the Tomlin supporters will have an excuse if this happens, they will say well we had a new dc, .. But it's nvr tomlins fault in there eyes.. ............................. SRRY i didnt mean to make this abt Tomlin but thats wer'e it went...

Or maybe it's Bens fault ? How many games does he just refuse to hit the check down ? How many games does he start locking in on 1 receiver ? How many games does Ben looked confused on pre snap reads ? How many times does Ben get into the Redzone and look lost?

Not bashing Ben either just maybe our Franchise QB is just not as good as some think ? If we buy into a Franchise QB is needed to win then the level of his play will have a direct result on the Coaches wins.

Bill draws it up and Brady executes . Haley draws it up and Ben executes or he doesn't . Then we all start talking about how the OL broke down , this guy missed that catch , this guy ran the wrong route, he had no time. You get the point.

IMO the biggest key to this Team is Bens prep time and film study .IMO that's why we see Ben looked lost he is not prepared as well as he should be.

Let's not go too overboard all over Blounts jock..... Didn't he burn the same Indy team last year in the playoffs for 166 yards and 4 TD.... only to be followed up by a 6 yard performance against Denver? Sure hope Karma comes back and the Seachickens defense shows us what kind of player Blount really is. Indy SUCKS.

Has nothing to do with "heart of a Steeler" had to do with him being a jerkoff and causing problems and when you have a teammate saying they should have left him behind, you can bet there are problems that the public wasn't aware about.

I'm so sick of the myth that is the perfect NE franchise. Belichick had troubles with Moss, he had troubles with Blount too and let him walk after turning in one of the best post season performances. You can be sure the first thing he told Blount this time was if you pull any more crap I'll cut you too and he would have, he benched Jonas Gray for being late to practice in week 11 and he hasn't gotten out of the dog house since. He benched him even after turning in a 201 yard, 4 TD game, which incidentally came against the Colts, so lets not get all giddy over Blounts performance against that pudding defense.
