Maybe this is why Cortez Allen struggled this year?

According to Ike, he had significant health issues for much of the season. I really do hope this is the case. If we can get Mitchell and Allen back to 100% health-wise, the back end of our defense may not be as bad as we think. Here's what Ike said about him:

Another player who comes to mind is cornerback Cortez Allen, he of the $26 million contract. Taylor insisted Allen was injured “in more ways than people can imagine” last season.

“It came to a point where I'm like, ‘Tez, man, you gotta tell them you're hurt. It's making you look bad,' ” Taylor said.

IMO That is a cop out. After your play sucks all of a sudden it is because you were injured more than anyone knew. BS And look who is telling the story, someone who can't effectively play the position any longer. Just seems like a convenient excuse.

Unless Cortez Allen fell into a giant blender ... no, not in more ways than I can imagine.

I agree. You don't want to pay out that bonus only to find out that he'd been riding shotgun with Toonces.

I think Ike underestimates our imaginations.

If that's the way you see things, you must be giving mad props to Cortez Allen then, right? If this is true, then he went out there and sucked, made himself look like a scrub, totally embarrassed himself, and never made his legitimate excuse public, even though it must have been really tempting.

I don't know if it's true. It certainly would help explain what happened to him. That kind of dropoff is not seen very often in young players.

I have confidence Cortez will rebound, he sure has the talent, and we have seen shimmers of it.

He just need to clean up a few technique things and I think he will be fine.

Maybe he didn't make his so call legitimate excuse public because there was no legitimate excuse. Maybe Taylor is just talking like he always does and Allan didn't have anything else wrong to justify his bad play than what we knew. Someone is full of BS, maybe both of them are.

If I have to give credence to Mike Mitchells groin injury (which is very hard for me), then I'll give C Allen some slack and see how he does next year.

Makes sense, the drop off in his play was very perplexing. It also explains why the put him on IR which raised eyebrows at the time.

Athletes hide injuries, its just in their DNA to try and fight through it, I don't hold any ill will towards him for it.

And yeah, Ike likes to talk but I've never known him to be a liar.

I think this is good news, Tez being able to play at the level I thought he was capable of will be a big help next season.

Well then Taylor is the one you have an issue with. Unless you're talking about his play on the field, I don't understand the problem you have with Allen. You're simultaneously blaming him for faking an injury (which you don't know) and using an injury as an excuse for poor performance (which you know he didn't do). Am I wasting my time?

I hope there is a good excuse for his play. I'm not sure I buy it though because he seemed to be in good position on a lot of his bad plays but for some strange reason he just couldn't locate and or make play on the ball. With all that being said. I Think he can bounce back

Excuses, Allen sucked at the beginning of the season so I don't know how injured he was.

no body has a good season and then later says I was hurt all year. Now, Cortez and Mitchell both stunk up the joint and claim they were playing hurt.

i don't want to think is an excuse to gain the 3 milion bonus (that will end with another 3 milion in september ) and not be cut before that

"Hurt" could mean a lot of things. I've wondered all season if it may not be more mental health. "Injured in more ways than you can imagine" suggests something along those lines to me. But I might be over-reading. Perhaps the more logical thing is that Allen tried to keep something hidden, and once they found it he was dropped from the starting line up and into IR.

It would seem odd to me if Allen had an injury that Ike Taylor noticed but the team medical staff didn't.

No - Mitchell said he was hurt. Ike Taylor said Allen was hurt. Cortez has said nothing.

I don´t think him not turning his head to look for the ball was because he was injured. He just sucked!
