Last year I pounded the drum for the new age shiny TE's like Ebron, this year, seeing as how Heath is nearing the end, my guy is Ben Koyack. He can block, has soft hands, nice catch radius, attacks the ball, all and all, nice possession receiver that can help out the line with his blocking too. I tend to only watch Notre Dame football so might be a little biased but after looking around, really don't see anyone else. Maxx Williams is interesting but he's a sophomore, not really crazy on drafting those, plus he will likely go by the 2nd round. I think Koyack can be had in the 3rd leaving the 1st and 2nd for LB/CB or vice versa.

Some film of his blocking and catching, nice catch in there, play starts around the 4:42 mark.

I'm kind of curious about what egnew will do for us. not to mention his teammate Washington that we have added as a WR. I think both have tons of upside. size, speed and were in a good program at Missouri. more toys for ben.

He's a tenacious blocker. Definitely more of a "Steelers Tight End" than Ebron. :smiley1:

I'm curious what Blanchflower will do for us. We stole him in the 7th. With a year under his belt, and hopefully a healthy camp, who knows...

Ben Koyack, played high school football about 10 minutes from my house in oil
city, pa. My wife teaches school in the same district as his mother. He is probably the best football player to ever come out of Oil City High school. Primarily a blocking type TE, he can catch the ball too, his speed needs work for the NFL. I'm sure he would like to play for the Steelers, being that his hometown is less than two hours away.

He was highly recruited coming out of high school had many division one offers.

I agree and with the addition of egnew, we could be in pretty good shape. I will say I also like clive walford from Miami in the draft. he's another guy that is a blocker and good receiving threat rolled into one. not overly tall but built well and uses that size with some deceptive speed for a 263 pounder. nice all around game.

Yeah, what can I say, I was seduced by sports car last year

Koyack is more of a Ford F250

Dulac said Blanchflower gets better every practice, we'll find out soon enough if we found a gem or not.

I got excited after watching Blanchflower's tape after the draft last year. I made some prediction about him making the team over Palmer and being active all season and surprising everyone. I was disappointed, but I hadn't heard he was doing well in practice. That's good.

Koyack looks like my type. Love to have him. But I don't know if I want us taking a TE in the upper rounds. We've got bigger holes to fill..

I think the Steelers are banking on him.

Looks like a good player wouldn't mind him if we traded back and had a extra pick otherwise I don't think we can afford to spend a pick on the offense until round 5 or so.

Given what this team tends to draft in round three, they could do much worse.

After watching some of his blocking in the title game, I think Huerman (sp) from Ohio State ought to be on our radar rounds four or five.

Notre Dame TEs tend to be average in the NFL, if it was a late round pick then okay.

Eifert had a good first season, nearly 500 yards, was hurt last season. Niklas didn't do anything his first year but he plays for Arians, doesn't exactly utilize his TE's.

I'd be fine with Koyack in the 3rd.

Vannett looked good for them too, but I think he has a year or two left.
