I saw that list, not impressed, I'd rather see what Butler can do. Phillips is the only one interesting there, IMO.

Bill Cowher. LOL. I really don't know. I say Butler gets it honestly. I mean how in the crap do you follow Dick Lebeau??? I know our defense hasn't been good in the past few years but what's gonna happen if the next guy is underwhelming is we are gonna forget the down years of DL and hold the guy to a standard of the 08 defense every year and act like that's what we were ALWAYS like. We really need to make all the DL detractor threads sticky so we can go back and look at them when the next guy has some growing pains ya know? It's like the same thing that happens with Tomlin when he does bad and then we all act like Cowher never had bad games and the same thing that happened when Cowher had a bad game and people acted like Noll never had bad games. I'm honestly expecting some growing pains no matter who it is. Who coordinates SF's d? They've been pretty stout the past few years. I wouldn't mind to kick the tires on that guy. Also we should get BA's d coordinator. He sure has took a lot of water from our well. LOL.

    Rocky Seto.

Assuming he isn't locked down as Seattle's DC heir apparent.

It's a passing league now. We need his type of thinking.

What about Mike Tomlin as DC? Let him call the plays the way Rex Ryan did.

I would be all for Tomlin taking the reins as DC with Butler assuming an assistant coach bump. I think Tomlin has delegated too much and calling plays developing a defensive game plan might be just the thing.

He has two turns as a HC, perhaps a chance with a good D might be what he needs. What about his health? Do you think that might be why they "mutually parted ways"?

I think they parted because he hasn't really won anything there.

If we pick and external candidate, Butler will be good as gone. We haven't blocked other teams from interviewing him as well as butler turning down jobs if there wasn't something already in the works. I wish DL would take a consultant role with the steelers and kinda be the man behind the scenes of the defense while Butler is in control. Hate to see DL on someone else's sidelines

I want to see what Butler can do, been around the game for a while now and studied under the best. Being a former LB himself, I'm sure he puts a premium on getting to the QB, which would be nice to see.

It's gonna be odd to see Butler doing this job. If you've ever been around him in person he seems like a REALLY reserved guy. I just can't see him going off on somebody. He seems really quiet. Not that DL seemed like a big mouth but just not nearly as reserved as Butler does. He may not even be that way at all and might just "seem" that way but that's my perception of him.

He seems kind of hot blooded to me honestly. I've seen him go off on players.

Oh cool. I've never noticed him like during games but just when I've been at games and watching him on the sidelines during warmups and things like that. By seeing him that way it's really pretty shocking to hear you say that. Not that I'm saying I don't believe you but just that he seems so reserved when he's not "in the moment" as they say.

Thats my perception of him and in some of the reading up on him I've done, he rides the LB's pretty hard.

Blount, hes a full blooded southerner, you know all you guys have anger issues :lolol:

Well we just expect results. LOL. Actually, I remember when UT lost to Memphis and people around here were shocked. What I didn't realize was who the defensive coach was for them. It was Keith Butler. The qb that he beat? It was peyton manning. Obviously, I'm pulling for Butler to get the job. LOL!
