Humor me here, but honestly... Is it really a far fetched scenario?

does Ike have enough in the tank to play safety ala lake?

does an undersized shazier make more sense at safety than at an log jammed ILB position that like it or not, he is too small for? Will bulking up render his speed useless in your mind?

In all honesty, I'm looking at moves that make sense at certain positions without hoping for or on draft picks that won't immediately contribute as well as FA signings that probably won't happen.

Im not sold on Mitchell one way or the other, and the land shark is obviously not admired by the club even if healthy.

I think Ike could play safety and in an physical way. Shazier seems more safety than ILB to me, but then I'd prefer to see Pouncey as a guard and make Wallace our center rather than spend another season with the foster arrangement. Or move Beech to guard and TRY to find the LT answer?

I think we have pieces in place to answer some immediate needs and free up the board... What say yall

I don't like Mitchell. Hasn't shown very much all season. Ike is too much of a liability any more. Troy needs to hang up his cleats. Shazier may be better for Safety but don't know his past. JJ needs to bulk up and be coached up by Harrison.

I really like what I see with Tuitt and Heyward.

dont like Mitchell either and I thought he was a savior of sorts when the signing happened. If he was injured so be it... But why play that card after the season when nobody knew... Poor sport! Hope he proves us wrong next year.

Ike is a current liability but would a switch work? I mean you know assuming they actually played him at safety and not a roaming backer?

No to Ike to safety. Generally that move is only made when the CB has good ball skills. That leaves Ike out.

Aren't safeties expected to make picks? That would not seem to be up Ike's alley.

I actually like Mitchell. I see some potential. If I recall correctly it took Clark a little while to adjust too when he first got here.

Let's be honest, Mitchell is playing next to a guy who is a shell of his former self, and the front 7 was horrid earlier this season.

I think Mitchell is okay in pass coverage, and okay making an open field tackle, but I think one thing he struggles with is he is slow to come down hill and truck a RB that is coming right at him.

I thought it was a good signing, but I wasn't too hopeful. He essentially only had one good year with the Panthers. He struggled before that.

I would like them to make a decision on one of those ILB's though cause I do like Vince Williams, and I would hate to see him lose playing time. Shazier does look too small to stand up to the run. He was getting hurt too much.

I agree, ball skills... Was thinking that they'd play him like Troy against the damn run anyhow... Wich he is good at hahaha

maybe if he had more time to see the play develop.... Nah... He'd just drop more picks. Hahahahaha

I think Mitchell was reading his own press clippings last year (year with Panthers). He talks a good game, but the execution doesn't match the talk to this point. He sounds like his pride took a hit...hopefully it's motivation to get his s&%t together and be a Steeler.

I like Shazier right where he is, and still think he'll be a star at ILB. The way he closed out the Ravens game was a glimpse of what is to come. I think his problem with regular season performance and injuries was him not fully knowing what was going on with the defense. With an offseason to reflect on his experience from his playing time this season, and with another training camp under his belt, we'll see a different Shazier out there.

I like Ike, but I think he's lost his legs and he's seen his last game. I would not consider him for FS. He's always been susceptible to the double move, and as a safety that can't happen. It's time for us to let him walk away. This isn't a Rod Woodson situation; I think Ike is clearly done playing effective football.

Ike cannot play safety. He has lost his ability as a sure tackler. He misses tackles a lot these days. He has no ball skills whatsoever. He has no closing speed and can't cover whatsoever. Those are all things needed to be a good safety. Ike literally has no skills that would benefit us.

As mentioned Ike is done no need to move he has hit the wall.
Shazier should move to FS if anything a bit small for SS IMO.
Would like to see DHB at FS or SS just to see.
Would like to see more 4 and 5 man DL fronts .
Cortez at FS , he may never be a good CB again.
    Pouncey at LG .
The young Army guy at LT .

I made the case a few years ago that William Gay should move to safety, as he's good in blitz and good at double coverage.

I think he's done alright sticking where he was, though.

Taylor talked about moving to safety last off-season, I think? I doubt we'll see it, though.

If Ike Taylor plays for the Steelers next year it is likely the same type of scenario that brought James Harrison back this past season where someone gets hurt. I strongly doubt the Steelers break camp next summer with Ike being part of their plans. The secondary actually performed better without him this season than with him.

My guess is they say to Ike - "Thanks for everything you have done, keep in shape - we may give you a call."

No Ike can't play safety, and Shazier will stay at ILB.

I like shazier at ilb. take advantage of his speed there and draft a safety who can play that position. their are some good ones this year at the top I know.

ike would have been good at safety 2 years ago maybe but not now. I think he is done or at best a dime corner.

I am willing to give Mitchell a pass this year since I don't know how long he has been injured. learning the system and all that. he showed flashes I thought and he has speed to burn

Ike who? The player who was manhandled by AJ Green, pushed like a ragdoll and fried continually?

Safety has to cover, be a ball hawk and tackle not only receivers, but backs, tight ends.

Guess they're are some that just can't let go. I personally can't wait to see someone else donning the #24 jersey. Should have already been...

I understand where your going dob. The unfortunate end of the season now leaves us all in the wondering category.

Mitchell for better or worse will be the FS. It's SS i'm worried about. I would resign Will Allen. Shamarko needs to make a move this upcoming season. They do need a back up FS as well. Lot's of holes to fill, the worst being now the OLB position. I would resign McCain and bring Harrison back for depth. Heck he might be starting next season. The draft is going to interesting.
