So were they concussed or not?

I'm not a doctor but my eye tells me both Ben and Miller were concussed and should have not come back in. I still don't understand why they were not put through the NFL mandated concussion protocall. It seemed pretty obvious to me when Ben was laying there rubbing his eyes and with Miller's arm going straight out when he was hit. Both came back in, produced turnovers and lost the game. But more importantly, they were put in a position to jeopardize their health.

Ben was...have you ever seen him lay on the ground for any extended period of time? Heath, yes, seen that look before. Oh yeah, they both turned it over shortly after their return...

according to the report I saw both passed the initial testing done on the field to see if they had suffered a concussion which then leads to the 15-20 minute evaluation. If thats the case I believe it, whether they had help something along the line of how many fingers do you see followed by a number of taps on the leg I will leave up to the conspiracy theorists. i do believe Ben rushed back to quickly and caused that turnover and that they should have let Grads finish the drive and let Ben clear whatever effects he was feeling out.

Of course everyone said no. With lawsuits the NFL got hit with, they better damn sure say no. It's just like what happened with Redman who ended up admitting later that he really did have a concussion and talked his way out of getting the protocol.

As I understand it, the player is first approached my a med staff to determine if the concussion protocol needs to take place. If Ben says he's fine, who's going to be the one to tell him he's got to take the test anyway? That's the loophole in this.

In 12 years of football I only had one concussion that I'm sure of and I played on and could have passed most tests I'm sure. Couldn't see the defensive signals from the coach but somebody else got them and called the play. I was fine walked and talked fine only needed one play from calling the plays but can't remember much about the game after the hit.

They both got rocked and it showed. I would have been fine letting Grad and one of Heath's many backups have a crack at it.

Who knows. Maybe... Maybe not. Were they the same afterwards? Not really. Grad should've finished the drive that's a no brainer. All I can say is I wouldn't put a lot of stock into this coach or medical staff ever doing/making the best decision on Ben and telling his ass to sit down for a bit much less sit out the rest of the way. The dudes somewhat of an iron man but not always at the right time hence a few seasons ago when he was obviously messed up but played against and was further hurt/embarrassed by the 9ers when we had a capable Batch in the wings. I like our coaches mostly, but situationally be it injuries or as disciplinarians or just frigging game planning/time management specialists they just leave you scratching your head.

However, none of it matters now seasons over.

Ultimately we got our asses kicked regardless and at home, with a team that was supposed to be dangerous and on the up and up. Our staff I think panicked and do so quite a bit. The rats did not, and we only lent more value to the Joe cool B.S. We keep hearing about! Atleast we didn't play down to the opponent, injured/concussed/out coached or not, we played to lose top down.

I don't know about played to lose.

The players actually played petty tough but made way too many mistakes by agressive nonsense penalties and committing costly turnovers.

Some played tough... Even after injury results aside. Our coaches did not play to win.

the refs didn't help but we're supposed to not leave that part of it in their hands... As costly as that approach can be.

Well if Ben was concussed, he sure didn't show it in the post game presser. He looked alert, answered questions easily about various plays. Spouted some BS, as athletes do from time to time. But appeared in full control of his faculties.

I was actually surprised because I thought for sure he was knocked silly. Maybe the INT on his first play was just a coincidence.

I'm not surprised. Delayed onset is pretty common. I've had a few and had delayed onset symptoms for one of them. I've seen high school kids act fine after a game, only to have moderate concussion symptoms during the week. One of them was seeing stars and had to be helped off the field.

If trainers put him through the protocol and he passed sideline checks, which appeared to be the case, then there's nothing more to be done. Sure seemed like he was concussed though.
