It looks as though DHB will make the Team again next year . He came on as a ST the last few weeks he even made a catch and a few blocks in the playoff game . The only reason I mention this is this will allow the Steelers to cut Moore and save a Million bucks or so .

I still swear I would try him at one of the Safety spots , he is fast he makes good tackles on Special Teams and he should understand how to recognize a route . What is the worse thing that could happen ? He would suck . Well see no real difference.....

I swear PWP you should change your screen name from Play with Poise to Persistent way Past Pointless. Ok you'd have to add another P but man when you get an itch you scratch it till it bleeds and then go back for more. I championed keeping Plex on the roster last off season and even I gave that up once camp got underway but you just keep talking up DHB, so I hope he makes the team just so you can ease up on the man crush just a bit.

Ben picks his favorite guys that's why DHB never got many balls . I think the College open thing that Ben still has requires more 1 on 1 time for Ben to be comfortable throwing the ball. He ignored Archer like the plague as well .

Maybe with another season DHB can get 20 or 30 catches in a year and 300 or 400 yards with more time with Ben . As stated in the mean time I would try DHB at Safety just to see if he can play the spot. He could be a natural who knows ? Maybe at least provide some depth at that spot and help with the #'s for the 53 man roster ?

Agree about trying him at safety, cause he is not that good as a reciever. I was shocked the he played over Moore in the last game. Bly is what you would call a bust as are as being pick no. 1 by, not sure if the Raiders or Lions. He always looks like he has potential but always under performs. For some reason Tomlin likes him over Moore and Justin Brown. Probably for special team play only. As far as receiving the other two are equal. Moore definitely has better hands.

I have a feeling we'll keep Moore over DHB, if a choice needs to be made.

In more likelihood, we take some UDFA receivers and stick with who we've got. No need to change, as far as I can see.

The area we need to address most on offense is TE and T.

This thread is pointless. If DHB sticks next year it is for one significant reason only and that is he can play special teams. He is not a great receiver other than as a decoy. I have nothing against the guy and respect his attitude for being willing to do whatever needs to be done. But jeesh DHB is not going to factor much into whether the Steelers move up or down the standings next year.

By the way - the safeties are likely set for next year w/Mitchell at FS and Shamarko Thomas at SS. I know Mitchell was a huge disappointment this year, but there is no way they are going to get rid of a guy they just signed to a 5 year/$25M contract. You got to hope he gets better - and probably not playing w/Troy might help him.

Same goes with Cortez Allen. They are not going to completely bail on a guy they signed to a big contract. Allen has shown some flash in the past (end of 2012 season, parts of 2013) - you got to hope he gets his head on right.

Don't forget RB . That is a key concern we need a true #2 . Is that Tate or do we need to look a little more ?

DHB could factor in. As stated it seems he needs more time with Ben . Maybe he and Ben can get good at hitting the 9 route. Maybe Ben can drop it in there ? Willie Mays style basket catches are all that's required . Maybe hit that route and be the difference in 1 or 2 games ? Who knows ?

Maybe more Reps gets him more time at WR and he makes some key blocks to spring our runner or key blocks to spring the pass catcher . Either way he could very well be a positive next year .

As far as the thread being pointless? It seems it has a point as I wanted to discuss it and push a few buttons at the same time . Seems the thread is right on Point. They should call me Poking With Phrases another way to look at PWP.LOL

I have no problem with what you are saying (though I do think the safety talk is kind of strange) - here is another idea how about him returning some kicks. But the reason why I still say it is fairly pointless is DHB is at very best going to be a minor consideration on whether the Steelers do or don't do well next season.

I will agree as far as what will determine whether the Steelers do or don't do well next season. The biggest concern is the CB and Safety spots , but until we draft might as well talk about something else a bit , because there is not a #1 or # 2 CB on the roster as far as I am concerned .

The top three WRs are set in stone for next season, barring injury. With the success we have had drafting WRs in later rounds, I'd personally like to see us just draft another guy and only keep 4 WRs next year. Id think, again barring injury, that Brown/Wheaton/Bryant/Bell/Miller/New TE is all that should be on the field anyways.

For WRs, our top three all have great speed. Brown is the playmaker, Bryant is the deep threat, Wheaton is the possession guy (though Id like to see them run him more vertical routes from time to time, as I think he can be a deep threat very easily with his speed). Maybe a 4th WR being a bigger more physical type, like a Hines Ward blocker/possession type. Hard to find, but I don't see a point to having Moore/DBH or JB on the team next year, as a WR at least.

JB is already gone and Moore probably won't be back. They like DHB on ST so who knows, might be back.

Actually to me one of the few bright spots in the game was Archer he did some nice things and caught the ball when thrown his way. Heck he should of even had his first TD if not for pathetic officiating. I also noticed Shazier was starting to play downhill in that game. I'm actually excited to see what both those guys and a few others can bring to the table next year. We have some very athletic and skilled young players that have a opportunity to do some nice things. Let's see if they can conquer the mental part of the game. Really looking forward to seeing Archer, Shazier,Optimus, Big Dan,HoJo ,Zumwalt and a few others try and make the jump. Wheaton should show a big improvement too.Im not ready to give up on Cortez yet either...I know our schedule doesn't look to promising on paper but hopefully like Tomlin says "iron sharpens iron"

I agree, I said in another thread that it was a shame it took until the playoff game for them to give Archer a shot like that. To me, Moore was useless this year. I was glad to have the signing, but he's done, put a fork in him. DHB played ST, not sure what his contract is like, definitely wouldn't over pay, but I'd bring him back.
