So is that last that anyone will see of Tate?

Do you think his last minute add-on, and then poor ball handling skills that he showed, will be the end of his career (remember he has been passed around quite a bit already).

How would you like to be in his shows walking into the locker room?

Keep grooming Harris, I'm all for the youth movement. I also think it would better suit Dre Archer to move to wide receiver with his speed. He can't run between the tackles the guy is too dang small. Check for a decent FA signing on the cheap end, hopefully one with no issues.

I'm amazed every time they try to either, keep Archer in to block, or run between the tackles. Didn't they learn from FWP? Get him outside if you're going to use him at all. Willie Parker was small but he had some great moments. LaDanian Tomlinson was small, he had a pretty good run. There's several small backs but very few last by running up the gut.

I actually think Tate could be a viable backup to Bell. He was a hot commodity coming out of Houston. With the right coaching and the right system, he could do okay. The question would be is he now ready to take a back up role with somebody?

Yeah Jack but I think Harris will be just as good if he knows he is the backup. Stains let Tate go because he wasn't happy with his playing time. Sound like someone else?

Nothing wrong with having 2 good backups.

I think he'd do fine in our system, since that's what he played in Houston (the zone blocking scheme.) I'm not 100% sure but I think the browns and Vikings both play a man blocking scheme, so I think Tate would be a decent fit for us as a backup.

The problem I have is that he's owed the vet minimum, whereas Harris will come much cheaper, and with not much less performance. As much as I'd like to keep Tate around, I think the more prudent move would be to develop Harris and acquire another promising back coming out of college, either draft or free agent.

I think I would stick with Josh Harris and draft a later round RB too.

If he would sign a reasonable 2 year contract I would keep him. And 2 good backups is nice. Then we can use the draft choice for defense. With that said, I suspect Tate will get offers with a chance to start.

When you get passed around as much as he has, you don't really get to choose your place on the depth chart.

If he comes at the right price, he is a worthy back up

Harris and Tate are both depth, nothing more and shouldn't be counted on for more than that. Harris MIGHT be able to be the primary backup next year, but I don't know yet.

If it was me, I would look for a UFA or a draft pick.

If Tate can accept his role and be re-signed for a reasonable amount for say a 2-3 year deal. I'd welcome him back. They'd have a solid vet in the system and be ready for next year. Keep Harris too. And see what happens. Save a draft pick for something else.

Its hard to change a leopards spots, did he not get fired for running his mouth in Cleveland about playing time? Do you really think he is going to see the ball here? Same as Archer, lets terminate that theory already and get somebody that can actually help us.

I think Tate or anyone else for that matter, coming into to Pittsburgh would recognize that their role is behind Bell.

If Tate would re-sign for the veteran minimum bring him back.

He will get more than the veteran minimum. But, he may take less to be on a winning team, as a back up where he can stay versus testing the market for a feature back position and ending up not playing at all.

Fast Willie Parker was at least 30 lbs heavier than Archer.
