Who cares about superbowls? We won the division and that was def worth risking our starters in week 17 instead of giving them a bye to prepare for our playoff run.

Give it a rest, man. The entire discussion about this in a different thread consisted of people giving reason after reason against your view, and you just re-asserting the same point without responding to any of them.

If you really want to harp on about it, at least come up with some kind of responses rather than posting the same thing again and again.

Home field for one game without a bye or healthy starters with a bye playing away. Give me a healthy team everytime.

Sorry, there were no points in the other thread other than "YOU PLAY THE GAME" or "winning the division is worth it!". Well at least those folks are happy. I would have rather have Bell playing @ Indy today

There were many more points being raised than that - I suggest you read them a bit closer. And once again, all you've done is stated the same point again...

    I think I'm done here.

Do you actually think that ANY team would rest they're starters if they had a chance to WIN the division? Look I feel your pain about losing Bell, but common now, injury's can happen on ANY snap.

If they were smart yes. To be honest, this doesn't happen often, where you already made the playoffs, can't make the bye, and are fighting only for a 1st round home game vs a 1st round away game. The Steelers are no better or worse at home than away. This might make sense for a few teams (Saints, Seattle, etc) but not us. Good thing instead of giving ourselves a bye (btw, like 70% of teams win after a bye) we risked our players for a home game and we lost Bell and lost our home game. Hopefully we won't make the same mistake again if we are put into it.

I didn't like playing the ravens we are much better off going on the road to play the Colts

Of course it wasn't. We struggle against teams with pass rushers. The Ravens have them, the Colts dont, but I figured thats a topic where people can disagree. To risk your starters and deny your team a bye for a home game compared to an away game? That is just silly to me.

I'm an optimistic person in general, so I appreciate the optimism, but there's no way winning the division feels good after losing a chance to win the SB.

Not even remotely correct. As I said in another thread, hindsight has the benefit of being 20/20. Your argument is based on knowing that Bell was injured. However, our big 3 - Ben, Bell and Brown had played 15 games without injury heading into week #17, so it was certainly not a given that one of them would be hurt.

I guess you would guarantee that there is no way that we would lose to the Colts and that there is no way that Bell could ever get injured during that game.
Grow up! Your point is useless.

This premise made no sense when it was first posted. Bringing it up again makes even less sense.

Our D struggles against teams with great offenses. The Colts are even better (read: WAAAAY better) than the Ravens. We gave up 30 against the vaunted Ravens O last night - we would have gotten torched today for 50 by Luck and Co.

    What's your point again?

Now that I realize that, my post doesn't really make sense in this context. I'm not sure how I missed the sarcasm now that I go back and re-read the OP. I guess being bummed about the loss had me not thinking clearly.

LOL. You guys never heard that playing after a bye helps your team a lot? 2 reasons, your players are rested after many tough games and you don't lose anyone to those 1 week injuries. It's not 20/20. I was with some friends the night of the Bengals game and some suggested we go to a bar to watch the game, I said no thanks- it's going to be backups and it doesn't matter if we win or lose. Good thing I came home and saw Bell was hurt. Teams win like 70% of the time after bye weeks. Have you guys ever seen football?

So you've at least started to add something new to your point, and then go and spoil it all by throwing out an insult at the end.

I think people around here have probably 'seen' football. They probably saw how well our 'rested' team did against New Orleans this season, for example...

Wow give it a rest. Some people just come here to complain and post nothing but negative stuff (which probably a good bit of the 121 posts in 3 years probably are).

I don't agree with this thread, as no team would lay down when a Div title is at stake. But we did lose Bell and Cinn lost Green and Gresham, so both teams essentially knocked each other out of the playoffs trying to win a regular season game. Dem is the breaks I guess.

I rarely post during the season, I normally only post about the draft and players. This just made me so mad when I came home and found out Bell and company where playing in week 17 and Bell got hurt. It's annoying to see the NFL's #1 offense not get a chance in the playoffs because of poor coaching decisions. And yes I do like Tomlin and think he should be our coach but this was a very dumb move (about as dumb as not having a backup behind Bell.... but thats another story)
