I don't care what type of season Ben had - he loses at home to a below average Baltimore team (For his 3rd straight playoff loss) - he drops back from a sure HOFer.

Let's not forget - he had the ball in both the Super Bowl vs GB and the playoff game vs Denver with a chance to win the game in both cases, with decent field position, enough time and timouts and did nothing in either case.

He supposedly progressed this year and he's an all-pro.

    Well, let's see it.

Tell me which part of my statement isn't true.

    1. He had the ball vs GB (with 2 guys in their secondary hurt)
    2. He had the ball at midfield in Denver and fumbled before the game went to OT
    3. He's facing a defense with 6 DBs on IR and guys pulled off the street weeks ago and he's failing miserably.
    4. This will be his 3rd straight playoff loss.

I agree with JPP. The way we played we have no business going any further in the playoffs.

And please stop talking about games years ago, as they have no bearing on this year.

I agree with everything, but the HOF part. Flacco's post season record is pretty amazing...

The human body is not capable of producing the eye-roll response appropriate for this thread. Sad that some solid performers picked this game to have a bad one (the entire OL, Timmons, JJ when he was in, and of course the usual suspects)

He didn't play offense tonight either.

The defense gave the offense the ball 6 times either tied or within 1 score of tying/taking the lead and scored 0 TDs.

Ben laid a dud in my opinion. Game plan was weird too. Haley made the game plan too complex with lev bell out the game.

The offensive line wasn't as good as they've been, but he missed open guys. Flacco got better protection, but when his protection broke down, he made plays. Ben didn't do that tonight. He isn't the only reason they lost tonight but considering the type of year the offense had and the secondary that Ben was throwing against, he laid an egg.

He did the same as a lot on here wanted him to do. To use the Back up RB'S the same as Bell for the most part . Huge mistake. Also trying to go with max protect or to many TE sets . Any player we tried to get to help protect could not win there 1 on 1 battle . That is where we missed Bell the most.

Should have dictated the game to them with our WR'S ...

I'll take Ben any day over Flacco, but games like tonight remind me of why I don't think Ben is elite. Top tier franchise? Yes. Elite? No. He needs to be re-signed, but only in a cap friendly way.

Flacco was certainly better tonight, but BB was by far the better QB for the season. Dude tied Brees for most yards in the league this year behind an improved but still average OL. If BB and Flacco had switched jerseys, Joe would have looked putrid. Ben's late INT sucked, but he just got his bell rung. Ben was under pressure all dadgum night. A lot of blame must rest on the OL. And missing Bell was the dagger. Bell is an elite RB who also excels at blocking and blitz pickup.

I'll take Ben over Joe 365-24-7.

Don't dislike him, just think he should be better in games like this one if he's truly elite. Maybe, as a few have said, he's not elite, just a step below Brady/Manning/Rogers, more on par with guys like E. Manning, Flacco, etc.

did Mendenhall fumble didn't cost us that Super Bowl?
i don't think he failed miserably tonight. The one int was off of Tate's hands, and Bell catches that one. The second, he never should have come back in the game.
elway got blown out of 2 Super Bowls, think Ben will bounce back. With or defense, if we lose Big Ben this team will be lucky to get 5 wins a year, even with Bell.
The replace Manning with Luck or Favre with Rogers will not happen here. Ben needs to be the QB for the foreseeable future.

Peyton Manning is one of the best QBs to ever play the game. Yet he has just one Super Bowl. He has choked a few times himself. Ben has two Super Bowls. Not saying Ben is better than Peyton, but just saying #18 has screwed the pooch occasionally as well.

The fumble hurt no question, but once again - down 31-25 around the 30/35 yd line with over 2 minutes and a couple of time outs against a gassed and injured secondary. Fumble or no fumble, I'd take my chances in the 2 minute drill with an elite/HOF QB in that situation every time.
