How important is it that we score the first touchdown

I think it's huge with the weather the crowd will be into it I know in our last meeting they scored first and we still blew them out but I really believe we need to score the first touchdown to take control of this game early

 

Huge! Every point will be huge.

I would love to see us decline the toss and on the first pass play Gay takes it to the house for a pick 6.

I believe the stadium would erupt!

 

The first TD means nothing if we don't win the game

 

The Ravens have had 5 or 6 games where they benefited from a turn over on the opposing team's first possession. Turnovers have hurt this team against them. I think the bigger key is to get the first turnover, versus the first touchdown. Though, doing so at the same time would be awesome.

 

Final score is all that matters

 

I think scoring first might help this Team exercise the ghost of Tebow. The Team started bad and clawed back into it only to get there hearts broke . Not exatcly sure how much it would help to score first , I think is very important to get off to a good start though .

 

I actually don't think it's overly important to score first. This team can't protect a lead anyway. I think what we need is to face some adversity. Whether that's a cheap shot on Ben or another one of our key players, a horrible call that goes against us, a couple quick Ravens scores due to a turnover, etc. Something needs to happen to light a fire under the ass of this team. That seems to be the thing that really gets them going and it's what got them going last time out against the Ravens after a horrid start

I agree , but what if that light a fire play doesn't come ? That's my fear . I would like to see them come out and start fast and play fast and finish fast . Play a complete game for once .

Not only would that win this game it could go a long ways towards winning the next game . Fear can be a powerful opponent or a powerful ally . Basically stop talking about not living in our fears and step in the stadium and prove we have nothing to fear .

 

Yeah, if that one game changing play doesn't come, we could be in trouble. I would love for them to start strong and finish strong, but it's almost unrealistic to expect that given this team. We generally don't do that, so honestly, I don't expect that tonight. What I hope is for that one big moment that changes the game and turns the tide in our favour. That's what I'm hoping for. That's what this team needs sometimes to get going. We struggle to get going on our own and we struggle to put teams away when we have the lead, so

It seems to me in the past year, we are better when not scoring first. A few games come to mind. Titans and Texas. We generally seem slow to score in the beginning of games and seem better when starting behind. I'm more concerned when we get a lead to get a 2 score lead. Just don't trust the defense enough, or a bad play, or a bad penalty with only a 1 score lead.

 

This is EXACTLY what I was gonna say! LOL!!! Overall though I say score early and score often. I predict it will be "game over" if the Rats score first. LOL. There will only be a few that get that joke but if you ever do the gameday threads you will.

 

If ya wanna get technical then neither does the second TD!

Its more important in my estimation to score the first 2 TDs and then try to keep Flaco off the field

 

I'm going with first TD, last TD and every other TD in between.
